DRACO/GINNY FAQS & GUIDELINES

With the new changes made to the D/G forum it has come to my attention that new FAQS and guidelines need to be made. This is where most of your questions will be answered, but by all means tell me in this thread if yours is not.

As this board is still a part of Portkey, the site-wide rules still apply. That means that you may not ridicule D/G shippers for their preference in shipping. We do know that our ship is purely fanon, so we do not need people to tell us that it has no evidence in the books, etc.

It would also make all of our lives easier if you did not ridicule other Portkey shippers (such as H/Hr or R/Lu) in the D/G forum either. Though this is the D/G forum, there are still those of us who ship other ships, and as this is still a part of Portkey, respect for those shippers needs to be maintained.

The same goes for D/G shippers trying to convert others. It is fine to express your opinion respectfully, but we do not need to convert each other to our preferred ships. People will choose to ship D/G if they wish to, and we do not need to force it on them.


The Sub-Forums

You may have noticed that the D/G forum has now been split up into different sub-forums. This is simply to make topics easier to find for you, and to also help us mods from getting headaches from having to move topics to their right places.

Here are the different explanations:


D/G Forum Concerns

This forum is where you will find all announcements concerning the D/G Forum specifically, as well as where you can make suggestions on how we can make the forum better. This thread here is the best place to put your concerns and suggestions. I check it regularly and am always happy to help or listen to whatever your query may be. No question is too silly, and no suggestion will be taken lightly.


D/G Topics That Won't Die

As the name says, these are the topics that kept popping up again and again over the years because of their popularity. There are different sub-forums within this board and each has their own unique purpose.

Why we like D/G: Pretty self explanatory. This is the subforum where you can share with other shippers on why you like D/G and what made you first become a D/G shipper.

D/G Canon & JKR: Again, self-explanatory. Anything to do with D/G in the books and JKR will be found here. A lot of these topics are archives that are outdated (considering D/G did not happen in canon as we know) but having them here makes them immortal topics in their time all the same.

Other Popular D/G Topics: This is sort of like our misc section, which has all those popular topics that collected in the main D/G forum over the years. There's not much of a theme here, so I encourage you to have a look around and find out what's hiding in amongst the diverse threads.

Do not be alarmed if you find you cannot make a new topic in this board. That is intentional, as this board is purely for those topics that never died while in their time. I do, however, encourage you to post in the threads that are there, and if there is one that is locked (as there are archived threads in there too) that you wish to reply in, just post in this thread and I will unlock it for you.


D/G Fanfic Subforums

Anything to do with fanfiction and D/G can be found here.

-- If you would like to recommend a fanfic then come here. There is also a subforum within this board that allows you to seek out (or recommend) D/G fanfics by themes, which can be found here. Please make sure you read the rules of these subforums before posting any recommendations.

-- If you've lost a D/G fic that you were reading then come to the Lost and Found board to post the details of the fic and gain help in finding it again.

-- If you're not looking for a long fic, or maybe you just want to test the waters with your own small ficlet or cookie of an upcoming fanfiction, then Ficlets/Cookies is the place for you.

-- If you would like to challenge your fellow D/G shippers to writing a fanfic idea of your own, or perhaps you would like to take up an idea of someone else's, then come to the Fic Challenges forum. Mini competitions and ficathons can also be found here.

-- D/G fic collaborations are welcomed in the Round Robin forum, and currently we have one active round robin here. Please read the rules for this board before posting or starting any new round robins.

-- Finally, if you would just like to discuss D/G fanfics in general, then Other D/G Fanfic Discussion will cater to all your needs.


D/G Games

This board is where you can find all the crazy D/G games that have been created. If you have an idea for a D/G game then don't be afraid to start a new topic for it.


D/G Media & Sites

This board is for all discussion of movies, images, graphics, and any other form of media that can be wormed into fitting with D/G. A few of these topics are archives, and therefore are locked, but there are active topics in here too.

You can also find the Fanarts/Media Forum here, where you can admire and create D/G fanart to your heart's desire.

Frozen Embers is a subforum that will not be in use by us active forum members. It is the archive board for a past project of D/G shippers, but you are welcome to read over the threads if you wish.


Misc D/G

This is the board where all the left overs are to be found. Any topic that cannot fit in the other boards should go here. All the archived threads are currently being stored here, but active threads are welcome to be posted in and you may create new topics as much as you like. You may also request for archived threads to be unlocked (which again can be done in this thread).

The D/G Addicts topic is where you can get to know your fellow D/G shippers without having to worry about being on topic, and I encourage you all to participate. I promise we are a friendly bunch.


Frequently Asked Questions

I posted a topic/post but cannot find it. What happened to it?

The most likely scenario for this case is that a mod has decided it was not in the right area and has moved it. Follow this guide to help keep track of your posts.


Why are there so many subforums now in the D/G board?

As I stated earlier, this is to help you find your way around the forums better, and also to help lurkers and inactive members find their old posts and threads if they so wish.


Why are threads locked at around 150 posts?

This is simply to cut down loading time and make threads easier to read and monitor. Links will always be placed in the new and old threads to help people find where they came from.


How do I contact the mods if I have a problem/concern/question/request?

General suggestions and concerns should go in this thread, but if you do not wish to publically post your concerns then you may PM me or another mod.

When requesting something- ie, wanting a poll to be added to an existing thread, having a topic removed, help with spoilers and quotes, or opening a locked thread- post in the Modly Assistance thread. It would help me greatly if you posted links to those specific threads and posts (here's how) so that I can help you more faster and efficiently.

The same goes for concerns, such as threads that need to be moved or merged, etc. A direct link will always help me get there faster and fix the problem.

If you notice a serious offence (such as trolling or a link to an NC17 images or posts) then please press the report button and/or alert an active mod on the site straight away through PM. You can figure out who are mods by the labels under their names (such as my green super-mod badge) or the names will be colour coded and bolded in green, red or blue in the active users area on the main site page.

Note: You do not need to contact other mods if you see me active on the site. Just PM me and I will help fix the problem straight away.
