I don't think it will happen before the end of the seventh book, just before the last battle with Voldemort, or after.

Or, obviously, Harry and Voldemort are alive. So, the word live is probably used to indicate that Harry won't be able to enjoy his life while Voldemort is still alive (I don't want to imagine the other issue).
And this means that Harry won't act on his feelings before the very end.
hm, me own theory on that matter:
seeing as how love seems to be the key to voldemort's destruction i wouldn't be
suprised if our little dimwit Harry (sorry he's just somewhat slow on the uptake of how Hermione feels about him) finds the type of love that is required to activate whatever special powers he has and that that avtiavtion is somehow connected
to Hermione. Maybe like this:
Harry stood there panting, whatever curse he threw at Voldemort, latter simply
dodged or deflected it
"You cannot beat me Potter" taunted Voldie (hehe)
"You have taken my family, you have tainted my life with your viciousness"
And then it clicked. Against Voldemorts evil only happy feelings could suffice, so
Harry tried to concentrate on the one thing that made living worthwile and without
really knowing why his thoughts focused on Hermione.
Harry screamed "Expecto Patronum" and insteadt of the usual silver one a stag
composed of green flames erupted from the tip of his wand and charged towards Voldie
To make a long story short, after Voldies defeat Harry thinks his life is pointless as he is somewhat dense, until Hermione comes up to him and tells him that he
shouldnt be thinking like that cause he makes her life worthwile. ja... something
like that, eh?

My lil' theory on how Harry and Hermione will get together is going to take place around Halloween in 7th year (this is kind of OT, but do they really have Halloween in England?).
