Yeah, I would not be able to handle it if H/Hr didn't happen. It'd still be my favorite ship forever. It's just too good for that. I don't think anyone here would give it up. Loyalty is a very good thing.

I still think that I will be happy with no matter what J.K. writes, because when she does, it will all just fall into place and I will be content. She's the only one who has control, and I think that at this point, she can turn things any way she wants, and which ever way it turns, it will be beautiful, because you ask me, nothing is more beautiful than the security of canon-ness.

i don't think anyone can really say they have that canon-ness security because Jakes the only one who has it..... If it were a story we personally wrote then we can put it anyway we like.... Jake is a very good writer because her story is interpreted in many different ways in many different views.... I don't want to be over confident about anything.... but i'll love her two other books just the same.....

I think what Laura meant was that when the two books comes out, she will be happy and secure that the ships will be canon and no more argumentative debates, etc. There's no more arguments after JKR finalizes it. Right, Laura?

I think I agree, Laura...but then I don't
Canon-ness is very stable and "logical", if you will, while all the theories are just fun and mind-developing (and time consuming, might I add).
With the stable "beauty of canon-ness", we wouldn't analyze things, which REALLY comes in handy in school work. I know I wouldn't be able to pick out things half as great if it wasn't for Portkey (scary...)
In any case, stableness will arrive eventually, and if H/Hr doesn't happen, fine, it's not the end of the world - we won't be jumping for joy, but I'm sure JKR will make the rest of books rewarding nevertheless. But in turn, canons are just as beautiful as canon-ness...
Did I confuse anyone? *scratching head*

In all honesty, I will feel hurt

, especially after reading everyone’s essays on H/Hr. They have such an amazing and strong relationship that it would seem like a waste not to develop it into something more. If R/Hr did happen, then I pray that Ron will treat her better and stop insulting her. Then Harry will be all alone.... well, there is Ginny, but I don't think she would ever understand Harry the way Hermione does.

Oh well. I would not really care, just as long as we do not have to read them argue. That is quite annoying.

If she makes it R/H I'll accept it.
Because the only way she's going to make it R/Hr is if it fits into the rest of the story. And if it fits into the rest of the story, I can accept it.
I mean, I became a H/Hr shipper just because I thought they would (from what I've seen so far) fit together.
I'm not letting it not being H/Hr depress me just because it isn't H/Hr. Because for me, that's not the issue.

sone I wouldn't care much. Rather think what luck, I can take the throwing chance and create what JKR wasn't able to create. There wakes up the evil writer in me. What an opportunity for me

Hmm, I'd be dissapointed, I'll admit that, but if that's what JK has planned, then I can live with it. If she does put Ron and Hermione together though, I hope she develops their "sexual tension" further than just their bickering because then I'd just be dissapointed in JK.
But hey, there's always fanfiction right?

I agree 100%
if it did turn out to be r/Hr I would be let down with JKR, but it's her book honestly. I would just write a bunch of fan-fictions.

Honestly, if she does that i think it has to do with the reason of: he is not that smart

and well she is really intelligent
its like the whole perfect match thing
like u are so smart.. u are in arts and stuff
and i .. know all the south park episodes by heart
u know that kind of stuff
but what harry and hermione have its more important.. has more meaning

i'd be scarred emotionally for the rest of my life if r/hr happen! j/k
i'd be disappointed because i'm a firm believer that true firendship evokes the strongest and indestructible love of all. just as long as h/g doesn't happen, i think i can handle a r/hr romance, given ron battles with his psychological demons (inferiority complex) and wins.

Although I don't like r/hr, It wouldn't really bother me if r/hr happened. What I would hate is for OBHWF to happen. Ginny neither knows nor understands Harry - truthfully, he's better off alone than with her. I wouldn't mind H/Lu, though - Luna seems to have the ability to connect to Harry on a deeper level, the only problem is she's in her own world. I can see her leaving that world for Ron, but for Harry - I honestly don't know, whether she'll do it or not.
I have no hassles with Ginny/Neville, she seems to get along quite okay with him and he NEEDS someone like her. Draco/Ginny, though extremely unlikely in cannon, may work out rather nicely as well, but I'd prefer a bad Draco/Ginny rather than a reformed Draco.
I would qualify the above by agreeing with Turambar and others who say that anything that is not H/Hr would be nothing short of a wasted opportunity.
To me the sibling theory + R/Hr or OBHWF (either with the sibling theory or by itself) would prove that JKR has no creativity whatsoever. Being a Star Wars fan who loves H/L, I don't see the need for her to go that way especially, since it HAS been done before by GL, with spectacular results in the Star Wars Originsl Trilogy!
And those who are convinced that H/Hr is Anakin/Padme.

First of all, let me tell you that The SW Prequels have no trio. I'd also advise you to wait for EP-3 before you come to any conclusions about Anakin and Padme!

From what I hear...

Honestly, I would be a bit disappointed if H/Hr doesn't happen, because JKR has set them up so beautifully that it would seem wasted if she chooses to write another ship. However, I wouldn't be fuming if R/Hr happens because if H/Hr doesn't, then the only possibility I see for Hermione is Ron. Although I do have some doubts about that pair, I think I will be able to accept it.

Exactly. I'm not particularly fond of H/G ship, simply because I find it superficial and meaningless. The entire scenerio of a shy little girl crushing on a hero (based on superficial reasons) and somehow miraculously ends up with him in the end, without ever getting to know his true charater, is unrealistic and hopelessly naive. So in short
if:
1)Only R/Hr gets together- *Polaris makes a face, frowns, and turns the page quickly, skimming R/Hr parts.*
2) Only H/G gets together-*Polaris gags over this fluffy saccharine pairing, and raves about it with anti H/G friends, and possibly will be disturbed by this for days*
3) OBHWF: *Polaris falls out of her chair and faints* ....j/k
Anyway, as far as Harry is concerned, I really don't see him with any other character besides Hermione; Luna may be a possiblity, but she is a bit too...ethereal for Harry; although she and Ron would make a very interesting pair indeed.

Well I would think if JKR goes R/Hr that it would be one of the worst wasted opportunities of modern popular literature. She's crafted their relationship so nicely, I would just think what might have been. But I would think that it would be her loss. What would be her legacy? Another cliched squabbling couple.
It wouldn't ruin the idea of an H/Hr relationship since to me they would always be best suited. I also think Neville/Ginny seem suited and would be good for each other and i could see Ron/Luna working if Ron grows up a bit

I would be able to tollerate almost any ship but R/Hr. If it does happen, I will have to skip those parts when rereading the book(s) where it happens. I used to be able to tolerate it, but reading R/Hr fanfic and GoF totally turned me off of it. If Ron loses his jelousy and grows up and both of them learn to respect and understand the other's view point and stop arguing so much, then I might be willing to tolerate it. Still, I will never like it.

okay, i would be pissed.... honestly feel bad for a while but will get over the whole thing eventually and grow into a very big obsession of writing more H/Hr fics... anyway.... it's jakes story so she ends it the way she wants too if she does make R/Hr ending then well she has to make a lot of convincing.... one thing though.... H/G is too far fetch for me to stomach.....

I wouldn't really mind. Like I said in another thread, H/Hr have taken a life of their own and for me their relationship is not only bound in the books anymore. So whatever JKR does to her characters is fine by me. The HMS Pumkinpie will sail on.

My first reaction will be. Mad, because of all time that H/Hr been though together..in book and movies...Hermione will end up with Ron..(all of PEOPLE!!) or I would be very scared..that H/Hr will not be together. How can they survive with each other..it is not right.

First off, I won't really be surprised, but then I know I will have a bit of anger. But, that's when I read it the first time. Then, after that I won't really care. I love H/Hr and always will and like some people are saything, we still have fanfiction. If JK Rowling put Hr/R together then, that's that. It might serve a purpose later on you know. But I will expect them to get together, because if i don't then, I will be really mad when I find out they are going to be together. I always expect the unexpected first.

No..lol thats a bit much, I'd probably just be really disappointed, mad..and I'd go on and on about how much I hate it to my friends..even though they don't care.
Hmm..maybe Harry could be with Luna..just not Ginny!

i guess we can get over the part of Ron and Hermione *stops herself from puking* but we will be super restless if Harry ends up with *god forbid* Ginny..... Luna would be okay.. i think ginny's better off with Draco or Neville....
Truth of the matter is H/Hr would still be the best ship for me... no matter what's going to be written in the later books....

It's the opposite for me. I actually would be less mad about H/G than R/HR. My two least favorite het ships are Ron/Hermione and Draco/Hermione. If either happens, I will be extremely mad.

If it doesn't happen, I'll still continue to be an H/Hr supporter. It's as simple as that. I would jump ship and start shipping something that I have no interest in or don't believe in. I have to agree with star22 when I say that I'd be more disappointed if R/Hr happened than if H/G happened. Personally, I have a moral issue with the R/Hr relationship, but I'm saving that for other threads. But, there is always fanon to rely on. I'll still write fics and keep up
HOAF. H/Hr was my first actively shipping pair.
