The Word of the Day for February 21 is:
draconian \dray-KOH-nee-un\ adjective, often capitalized
1 : of, relating to, or characteristic of Draco or the severe code of laws
held to have been framed by him
*2 : cruel; also : severe
Example sentence:
Sue contends that the city's steep fine for jaywalking is a draconian form
of punishment.
Did you know?
"Draconian" comes from "Draco," the name of a 7th-century B.C. Athenian
legislator who created a written code of law. Draco's code was intended to
clarify preexistent laws, but its severity is what made it really memorable. In
Draco's code, even minor offenses were punishable by death, and failure to pay
one's debts could result in slavery. "Draconian," as a result, became associated
with things cruel or harsh. Something "draconian" need not always be as cruel as
the laws in Draco's code, though -- today the word is used in a wide variety of
ways and often refers to measures (steep parking fines, for example) that are
relatively minor when compared with the death penalty.

One of mine is no matter what fanfic I am reading I will always squee at any interaction between Draco and Ginny. It doesn't matter if it's H/Hr, H/G, D/Hr, D/P, etc etc- if there is even a single moment where Draco and Ginny talk I immediately seize upon it and get a big, goofy smile on my face.
Another of course is in HBP when Blaise and Pansy are talking about Ginny and they ask Draco what he thinks. I was like, "hee heee hee, he doesn't want to say cause he likes her!!!"

As I was watching the musical "Chess" last night, I was thinking about how the heroes' relationship (Antoly/Florence) was so D/G -- he's the Russian chess champion, she's the assistant to the American contender --, particularly after this line:
FRIEND OF ANTOLY: *says something in Russian*
Flornece: (who does not speak it) What did he say?
Antoly: He says you have very lovely eyes.
Florence: But he can't see them from over there...
FRIEND: *comes over to table and takes salt shaker*
Florence: And he was asking for the salt!
See? Isn't that SO Draco/Ginny? I was almost considering a D/G challenge for a fic based off this musical... except that it didn't have a happy ending, and those always make me cry so much if it's D/G (see previous post)....

Sometimes I don't mind them. I've read some really powerful ones that have reduced me to sobbing tears, but I much prefer the happy ending fics. It's nicer to end with a smile than a teary-eyed, blotchy faced mess. Besides, it's darn awful trying to explain to people why you're crying. They just don't understand how attatched I am to these characters.
