Oh! Okay, and hmm more things that are annoying...I don't like it when Ginny's got like every boy in the school trying to date her...she was never important before...

yeh that's true... i started writing a fic ages ago, and Ginny was like the worst possible slut and it was really bad and horrid, but when i finnaly found a site that would acctually let me put fiction on to it i got excited and posted it... i really must get rid of it... ITS SHAMEFUL... it really could be the UBF! its only one chapter but it has loads of annoying things in it!

Ha! I remember my first fic was terrible too...I still have it up...maybe so I can look back on it and laugh. It had annoying things...like um...SINGING! And i hate when people sing in fics...sometimes unless its a song fic

Don't know if anyone already said this, but even if they did, it's so awful it can be said again...Ginny changing houses to Slytherin!!!! It's infuriating, and makes absolutely no sense!!!! If no one else ever switches houses, why should she??
Or, if she and Draco get stuck somewhere together. Okay, there are many exceptions to this rule (All You Need is Love, by MochaButterfly is absolutely brilliant, and has them stuck in the past) and some can just be plain amusing, but come on, would Dumbledore really let two teenagers stay in a tower or leave their handcuffs on so they have to sleep in the same bed??? It's pisses me off soo much when they're senseless like that and not even well-written.

(I feel bad now though...i have one story that has some of the things mentioned on this thread...eep)

Definately. Ginny and Draco is understandble, all they have to get past is a family feud. But Draco and Harry being friends? They have to get past a whole slew of things, including deep rooted, undying hatred. Or somthing to that extent. I have to admit I've read a few, but fics where somehow Draco and Ginny are locked in a room and end up in love (or making love! ) are really starting to annoy me.

Don't we all enjoy a good row? I also don't like when people make Ginny's name somthing other than Virginia. I don't know if it's said in any book, but it's just implied. I am right? All good fics I ever read had her name Virginia. Sorry if i spelt it wrong.

Well, I dont really care if it's Ginger, cause I find that one cute and I think Molly would do that with ehr love for cooking (once again, implied love) but anything else would just annoy me. Too bad I've never read any like that.

Another thing that annoys me is when people think Ginny's eyes are blue. They're brown!!! *sigh* It's liek saying Hermione's hair isn't bushy.

Yeah! People when they write the fics they use the people's characteristics from the movie! And it's kind of like how in POA Hermione's hair isnt really curly, and I dont like that. But I do hate it when they say her eyes are Green/Blue and that Draco's are just blue. Because they ARE grey! It says so in the books! And Ginny's hair will not turn blonde from the sun! Gr, it's so idiotic!

I'm absolutely disgusted by L/G fics! Lucius/Ginny...and do you ever wonder what might have happened if Hermione went to Viktor Krum's house. again, Sorry! Just kind of popped up in my head. I don't like it in fics where Draco is Ginny's maid...I can't see her actually doing that...being a made for Malfoy of all people! Even if she didn't know who needed a maid...and in the ones where she has to go somewhere with him, as a maid...or whatever you want to call her...he makes her wear the smalles clothes possible! And she does! NOOOO! She wouldnt!

I like GinnyiswrokingforDraco fics too, but some, like you said WP, are beyond reason. I do like fics were their work makes them meet though. Anyone ever read As the Cookie Crumbles? Sorry thats really off topic. Hmmm... *tries to think of ON TOPIC contribution* Oh bother. I'll contribute later.

You know, Draco can be out of character in a romance fic around Ginny because love makes people out of character, yah know? As long as there is a good reason for why he cares about her then it's fine for him to show his true colors. But he can't change his attitude entirely. When he's around other people he'd still have to be the same person. I mean, in real life a bad boy could fall in love with a good girl and be totally sweet but he wouldn't be a sweet guy in front of his friends just because of his girlfriend.
Also, I think Harry and Draco are fully capable of being friends, but once again, in the right circumstances. You can't have a fic where they just start off as friends, something has to happen to make them friends. Something drastic. But it would be a bad idea in a story to have him become friends with Harry and Ginny(or someone else he hates).
Really, Draco doesn't have a definite personality either. We only ever see him from Harry's eyes. And he obviously must act completely different around other people, his family, and when he's alone. In fact, the only character we really know is Harry, since the story is centered around him. That leaves considerable room for fanfiction, as long as we keep up with the personality we see from Harry's eyes when he or she is around Harry.

How about this one - when Virgin Ginny has the most spectacular first time with Draco, having orgasm after orgasm( I can say that here can't I?) and she sees stars and rainbows....yadda, yadda, yadda.

It doesn't matter how much experience a little 17 year old boy has, it will almost never be how it's usually described and it will be uncomfortable.

And yeah, ya'll shouldn't bash other people's fics without posting one of your own. I actually like one of the fics you mentioned. Those author's may pop in here too and I can't see that as being a nice welcome for them.

Just my 2 cents.

What really annoys me is the basic OOC of Ginny or Draco. I think I've already said that here..but..I'm not sure..so I'll just post it again. Mwahaha. Oh yes, and Mary -Sues..mary sues are bad...bad..bad...bad! People should never write Mary Sues. They are evil, I tell you! EVIL!...Am I off topic? I probably am...*embarrassed*

Just out of curiosity, what do you all consider a Mary-Sue, esp. in the case of Ginny, (whom I think was given a fairly distinct characterization by JKR)?
And with the topic of this board, I must say I think any of the things listed are forgivable (save rampant OOC) as long as the writer really works with them and gives the reader an engaging reason for everything that happens. I also think far too often, in these fics where people do all that has been found "annoying" on this board, no one wants to speak up and tell the writer. The review function is fantastic, as long as it's used intelligently and constructively. I always like to know when I'm wrong, as long as the naysayer can back up why.

i'm trying to think of more annoying things, i thik we have gone through a hell of a lot.

Another one i hate is when Ginny hates Harry without good reason, if there is a reason then fine... but sh ecan't just hate him.

what i hate in D/G fics are when Draco just all of a sudden is really nice and on the "good" side helping them, then sees ginny in a was that he has never seen her before, and says "wow how could i have made fun of her for all these years" not in thoses works but around the same way...

and when Ginny needs money so she goes to Draco and he said ill give you money, but only if you live with me

those two get me mad most of the time, ill read them ut the get me mad..

There was one fic, where Draco was supposed to be seriously depressed because Ginny broke off their engagement so she could marry Harry, just to make her parents happy . And then she breaks it off with Harry...and goes looking for Draco...and I'm not sure how but Blaise Zabini found her...then Blaise went to go get Draco, and Draco saw Ginny...and he'd been wanting to get back together with her for the longest time. And when he saw her...he just yelled and walked out on her! It mad me so angry! Why would he do that!

And another thing I don't like is when someone has a songfic, but the song lyrics aren't in Italics. *But I guess that's just a pet peeve*
