Hello All!

Just figured I would might as well put up a thread where we can all just sit here and talk about the glorious couple Draco/Ginny! Talk about anything... just a place where we can come and relax and get away from all the crazy Dudley/Ginny, Collin/Ginny, Harry/Ginny, and the sometimes good Tom/Ginny shippers.

Just a question to start us up on our discussion... Why did you pick D/G over all the other pairings with the two characters? Well my answers shall come after yours!

Hmm.. My reasons. Actually I don't have any. Nothing good and puritanical like I should anyway. But here are some other ones that're just as good in my eyes.

1) I want to see Draco get taken down a peg. Not entirely - just the peg. I want to see him become good enough to consider Ginny and the weasleys his equal and while still be bad enough that he calls Hermione a mudblood. Gets hit on the head (by ginny), but he does that none the less.

2) It gets Ginny/Draco out of Harry / Hermione.

3) Perhaps the funnest reason : To make Lucius and Arthur look at each other, and watch them trying to destroy each other through their intense gaze, and being held back by repective wives.

4) Ginny is rather under appreciated. I want to see Draco see something in her that Harry missed. Harry might reject her, but I want t see Draco finding something unique and worthy of worship that Harry misses.

5) I want to pair up Draco with a girl that will kick him right where it hurts. So far in the books we know enough to know that Hermione (in my opinion) does not have it. She's nice.

5) The angst. I love the families are against us, so we can't be to gether.


Those are my semi - reason. Feel free to tear them down. But those are my reasons.

The traditional Romeo and Juliet trauma, of course. And a bloody fistfight where Draco trashes Ron would be interesting...Plus, Tom/Ginny is more of an obsession-love, Colin/Ginny is mother/son (imagine the poor kid running around snapping pics of Harry while Ginny runs around with a cane, telling him not to harass poor celebrities), Dudley/Ginny is just plain sick, Harry/Ginny is impossible because Harry belongs with Hermione. Well, wasn't that so very obvious? Hehe...plus, blonde hair looks great with red. Must be the Luke/Mara connection from Star Wars...

I agree with Nappa's reason that Ginny is mean enough to kick Draco's butt! In all the stories where her personality has been expanded, she's always coming off as a strong character. Plus, she'll have made a good Slytherin, being the youngest Weasley and thus equipped with plenty of ambition to be better than all her menacing brothers.

Yes i agree with you... just as long as it's a peg! I really don't see Draco becoming a pansy just for Ginny... *lol and imagines Ginny bonking Draco on the head* Maybe she'll threaten to take away certain "rights" from him if he continues to do it.

Okay, now for my reasons instead of just quoting everything

1) There's a bit of evidence in cannon
*Flourish and Blotts,
*"Potter you've got a girlfriend" (which is translated to "Potter, you stupid slimy git! How the hell did *you* get such a *pretty* girlfreind?" On the SS Fire and Ice on FA),
*and Ron never had to yell at Malfoy at the ball which tells us that he wasn't making fun of anyone. We also never say Ginny which means that Draco and Ginny were having wild teen sex up in the Slytherin dorm (LOL! I'm nutterz, don't mind me)

2) Ginny isn't a goody goody because Tom obviously did something to her in CoS. Which means that Ginny won't necessarily like the good guys anymore.

3) Angst... it's good *smiles psychotically*

4) Ginny doesn't deserve to be pushed to the side in the arms of just another Gryffie

5) Ginny won't take any of Draco's crap... and he needs someone that will put him in his place

6) They even share a rodent (i think) nickname. Weasel, Ferret... JKR doesn't make these kind of connections if there isn't a meaning behind it

7) Draco can show her Wub (see wub!) like no one else can *snickers and tries to get her head out of the gutter, but fails miserably* Oh well... looks like i'm stuck...

8) they just need to be together

erm- one question before i dash off... What first got you into the couple?

Hm...what first got me into the couple? A healthy dislike of regular Harry/Ginny pairings, though some of them are pretty good, coupled with a liking for Slytherins. Then I stumbled upon the amazing D/G ship, and then got addicted to it by means of some great stories - All You Need Is Love by MochaButterfly and Reiko's Serpent's Bride. Fearthainn and her wonderful story, The Past Didn't Go Anywhere was also part of the factor. I decided that creativity was better than monotonous following of H/G. Plus, I had a botched fic that was H/G, and I've really tried to stop myself from writing it ever since... Hehe...What 'bout you?

What first got you into the couple? Well i was really new to FA and i didn't know anything about ships... So i was skimming though the fics and read this killer R/Hr story (it was good even though the ship is bad, okay, please no flames for this) and i was really disgusted by the thought of Harry/Ginny which was mixed into the story.

Then i was looking around and since i didn't know what D/G meant (which i normally would have never looked under if i knew what it mean because i didn't like Draco back then) i clicked on The Serpent's Bride and began reading...

Needless to say the story had me hooked and i wouldn't stop reading aka my nose was glued to the computer screen. And that's how i fell in love with D/G, not to mention when i went onto Fire and Ice and the Du/G vs. D/G Deathmarch, well those arguments and conversations got me hooked. Ever since i can't stop getting enough D/G!

Cassandra Claire's Draco Sinister. Draco and Ginny just seemed so right together there and I've shipped them ever since.

Why did you pick D/G over all the other pairings with the two characters?
Well, I don't like Harry/Ginny, as I don't think canon!Ginny is a good match for Harry, and I am an H/Hr shipper. Neville seems like too much of a plod to be with Ginny (the stepping on toes during the Yule Ball). Colin doesn't seems too immature for a relationship with Ginny. Seamus? Eh, I guess he's okay but there's no angst there.
Fanon!Draco is too cute to be with Pansy, who I don't think is very pretty. Draco/Hermione is okay on it's own merits, but I don't like to break up Harry/Hermione, so I'd rather not have that ship. Harry/Draco. Ehh, I don't ship slash.
So Draco/Ginny it is. Plus I love the R+J aspect of a D/G relationship.

OK, here's a question? Why do you all ship D/G? Is there a particular reason for that? I want to know.

D/G is allright enough. And to some extent their habbits also match.

but the thing that got me into D/G pairing was a story by Mochabutterfly. Amazing! A must read for all D/G shippers.

It gets kind of old when all you read about is either fluff or death. Sometimes i want a kind of angsty fic where it takes the characters a lot to be together and just the normal Oh-you're-my-best-friend-but-i-think-you're-pretty-cute-so-lets-go-snog aspect. It just doesn't work for me with every pairing.

Also D/G isn't a pair that makes you feel squicky. It's not like Voldy/Lily or anything (now sorry but that makes me squirm) No one really knows what Draco is going to do with his life, and no one knows the real Ginny so anything is really possible with the two. It's even possible that they get together.

I like D/G because it's not expected and not likely. D/G is basically a way to get out of the normal hussle and bussle of Fanfiction and gets you thinking. I suppose it's the what if factor that keeps me into D/G.

Er- yeah... just aimless rambling. Please don't mind me! *scuttles out of room*

soory, kaykosm but i dont agree with you. I can get enough of well written fluff.
But i also tend to like Post Hogwarts stories, mainly because the chances of relationship being more open and more explict, (if you know what i am saying, being a smut lover
I am always looking forwards to stories which are unique from others. Like Some Au fic, involving D/G when both families are firm friends...etc.....

MagicalMischiefMaker, really? I've been converted to an angst fan by VioletJersey wether she knows it or not *grins* Though i can't write it all that well *sighs* To me D/G just screams out ANGST but then again as you all know i'm nutters so it may just be me.

Oh I'm a smut lover too, don't get me wrong, but i just see it more rewarding from this particular couple when they do get together. It's like a prize for everything they've been through and maybe a bit sweeter than it could be without going through a lot of trauma and harsh/sudden realizations. Do you get where I'm coming from or am i just aimlessly rambling?

Anyway MMM, I still haven't gotten a chance to look over your story... I'm truly sorry about that and I'm just about to get on it if i don't get pushed off the computer for one reason or another. How dare other people want to use it?!?! Oh well that's why i'm hoping that my parents put my laptop upstairs online and such for Christmas.

Speaking of Christmas, what would they get eachother? Yeah i know, silly question but at least it's something to get our thread up and moving again!

Why shouldn't I love DG? They have everything! The love, the passion, the tension, the angst, the fluff... and can't you just picture Lucius' face the day Draccie-poo enters Malfoy Manor carrying eight red-headed kids? It's because nobody in the HP-verse expects that couple. Perfect payback to their families for that bloody family feud! Everyone's reactions would be hilarious Not quite Romeo+Juliet (I must be the only person in the whole world that totally hates that book), but there's enough conflict there for it to be quite interesting! They're fiery, sweet and sour at the same time! Besides, aesthetically speaking, just the fact that he's blonde and she's a redhead makes me love the pairing. They just look SO good together... *sigh* And let's not even begin with the F&B scene in the CoS movie. Such energy, such intensity... they're perfect. That's that.

Okay, lots of questions to answer for the newbie. Well...not really a newbie to D/G, just to this site.

Well, for one, I really think pink haired babies would be adorable. *squicks* And I've always been into love/hate stories. The whole sort of Romeo and Julietish thing they can have going on is pretty neat, as long as they don't kill themselves or anything like that. And there's always that Git!Ron in the story when they're together, he's really fun to read/write.

There are a lot more possiblities for this pairing than a lot of other ones. Specifically for Post-Hogwarts fics.

Besides, don't you just love it when Draco is being such a prat and he doesn't know that he loves Ginny but he really does. Then something like this goes on.

Draco: (looks down at hands quickly, then back to Ginny) I love you.
Ginny: (grins) I know.

Don't you think that's something that would happen? Draco would be so clueless, and Ginny would know all along? Okay, I think I might be getting off the subject....

I agree with Kaykos on "denying certain privileges", but maybe she would also refuse to cook for him...that is if she's a really great cook. Alright, I'm going to go ahead and answer my own question, just because I'm crazy like that.

I think the best and most likely is Post-Hogwarts. If you think about it there's so many more possiblities for plot and originality Post-Hogwarts rather than in Hogwarts. Plus, if the romantical stuff starts happening after Hogwarts, at least Draco has a chance to mature a bit and isn't such a git, AND he has time to grow into his sexiness. But that's just my opinion.

What first got you into the couple?

Well, I've been a DG fan since canon-- I don't really know why, but since reading CoS I had the idea that Draco and Ginny just HAD to get together somehow, the whole unpredictable thing, you know?

But it was just a thought. I didn't actively consider myself a DG shipper until I read a fanfic... I don't remember what fanfic it was, I just know that it had a kissing scene that blew my socks off. It was so passionate, so fiery. Harry and Hermione don't have that, at least not in my mind, they don't. So, I instantly liked the couple.

How would Ginny keep Draco in check?

Who says she'd keep him in check? Bring me bad-boy Draco anyday, I say!

Ok, serious now. I think it's all in the blackmail, baby I bet she'd know lots of juicy information about him and she could easily tell the whole wizarding world... and Draco loves his reputation waaaaayyy too much to risk it

Post, of course. They can mature a bit, Draco would get even more gorgeous than he already is, Ginny would get over Harry and they'd be adults already, so their relatives have no say in their relationship

Well, I don't think Draco will really turn all nice. He'll probably always be sarcastic and mean to certain people....like Harry Potter. He'll probably be a little softer with Ginny, and can you imagine him with kids? There's no way he'll be really mean to them, he'd probably spoil them and such.

i cannot see draco liking omelettes. he seems like more of a... well i cant see him liking breakfast. i dont see him as a real morning person.
