I thought so. So flowers, books, socks, knitting... what else? Have I left anything out, oh yes... SPEW.
Maybe he and Hermione can work on a day when the students and the house elves switch places? That might make Hermione happy and the fact that Harry's helping her ::sigh:: I read that in a fic which I can't remember it's name or Author. I don't think it even ended up H/Hr in the end, I was devastated.

I remember Harry reading a fic where Harry help Hermione with SPEW. It was Chrismas holiday and all the students went home, so the house-elfs had nothing to do. All they did was reclean the kitchen over and over again so they were really miserable. Harry then convinced them to go outside and have fun or something. It ended with a beautiful H/Hr moment in the end.

It would be nice to have them have another walk around the lake. Probably toss a few pebbles for the Giant squid to catch, watch the sunset together. *happy sigh*

Perhaps as a present, Harry can be Hermione's Slave for the day. (not like that, my fellow Gutter Citizens, although that would be lovely) He can carry her books for her all day or something...."Harry Potter, at your service..."

She knows she wants Harry to be her slave...
It doesn't defeat the purpose of her "slavery" views, it would make her happy actually, to have a human (her hero) as her slave, rather than a house-elf. and if it's Harry, one of the people who had given her a bit of a hard time about it, then it would make her even happier... and the things they'd get up to!!!

I think if Hermione was given the chance to have Harry be her slave, she'd take it up and her Innuendo side would be eating her up inside, cos she would but wouldn't want to have him do anything tooo drastic, but it'd drive her insane, cos she would have the opportunity and she wouldn't be game enough to use it....

Anyway giving Hermione a penseive doesn't really strike me as romantic. Though it would be thoughtful and a great present. But it seems like something he would give her when they are in their 30's. Unless there are a few memories that would--ah-- please them. Then that is alright.

Sandra, you have what is known as a dry wit....so while you are very funny, some people might not get it immediately, or not even realise you are joking. This does not mean you aren't funny. It means they are stupid.

OK, that was a little harsh, but they get slapstick better than dry wit. But dry wit requires a bit more thought on people's part.
Perhaps the Pensieve is not a 'romantic' gift, but yes it is extremely thoughtful, (and I'm betting expensive) and while it may be something you give to someone when you're older, I think Hermione is the exception to the rule. I think she's needed one for years. And Harry doesn't give Hermione romantic gifts, he gives her what she needs/wants. (book in OotP, anyone?) He could merely tell her it's a study-aid.

Also, Harry could not possibly resist a dip into her Pensieve.

There are fics about this.
Cue Shippy Side & Straw-Grasping: I'd also like to add in that particular scene I quoted, Harry also felt like he could use a Pensieve. He didn't say that about Ron. Harry and Hermione need Pensieves. Awwww...

Get in line..... I think we all wanna see Hermione's thoughts! But this does make me wonder, would Harry dip into Hermione's Pensieve?
He has dipped into Dumbledore's (accidentally), and Snape's (spitefully). If Harry did take a dip in her .... Pensieve, people Pensieve!

Ahem, anyways, if he did do such a thing, inevitably, he would get a revelation.
But if his conscience (which sounds a lot like Hermione's voice) talked him out of it, this would speak volumes equally.

It would be putting Harry in a moral dilemma. I love those, actions speak louder than words.

I thought perhaps a new book that Hermione has been dying to get but was too expensive to buy but Harry would end up getting because he is very thoughtful. He is much more caring when it comes to Hermione than Ron is.

You don't get perfume for a girl. My girlfriend told me that different scents are differnent on all females. Some will smell good on some, but terrible on others. It has something to do with they're body chemistry or something. Hermione is a practical sort of girl, so I though Harry's gift was much better.

Interesting.
Have I made my point clear?

In case I haven't, let me make it clear that I am not saying Kalie thinks that. I know Kalie certainly wouldn't think that, but she would be aware that there are people out there who think that. Random thought: I should write disclaimers.
Ron should have bought Hermione a better gift. It either shows little thought (last year Hermione turned into a girl, girls like perfume don't they?), or he was hint-dropping, badly. Either way shows he doesn't really know Hermione well does he? Does he honestly think Hermione is the type of girl who cares about perfume? Even if she was, the gift would have been way more thoughtful if he'd tried to find out what perfume she did wear, if any. That would have been impressive. Thankfully, Ron doesn't get Hermione like Harry does, and once again, Ron's cluelessness towards Hermione makes out Ship stronger.
Yes, this is a lesson to all males: never buy a woman perfume unless you already know what perfume she wears. As Aramas said, everyone's body chemistry is different and while it may smell nice in the shop, when it reacts with the skin, it might smell like a troll on her.
I'm personally one of those women who never wears perfume (they all smell the same to me), jewellery (I only wear 1 necklace, and it has a special significance to me), and do not like to receive flowers (they are impractical and they die). Needless to say, I freak guys out. *shrugs*

I don't recall any rashes from perfume though. But perfume, jewellery and flowers are the 3 things a guy thinks of getting a girl, and when they're ruled out, they have to put a bit more thought into it. The results are interesting to say the least. But most of the time I've been pleasantly surprised.
Yes Ron was being completely clueless on what to give Hermione. Like I said, I'd have been worried if Hermione had walked in saying:
"Thanks for the book, Harry, and Ron, how did you know what perfume I wear? I never thought you'd noticed, that was very thoughtful of you."

Hermione is not the sort to use perfume in my opinion. But it is in Harry's POV, so as far as we know, maybe he just hasn't sniffed her yet. But he did enquire about her non-bushy hair in GoF, (and a guy discussing a girls hair is a SIGN!) so maybe Harry would notice if she wore perfume. So in my own muddled way I'm trying to say that Hermione doesn't wear perfume because Harry hasn't noticed it. Um yeah.

Yumiko-Chan, look at the beginning of the chapter after the yule ball. It says Hermione told Harry about how she tamed her hair with a magic hair-care product. So although we don't hear the conversation, we know once took place. The question is, who brought up Hermione's hair taming in the first place? Harry? Why would a guy ask a girl how she straightens her hair?? Hermione? Why would she think a guy would be interested in how she straightened her hair?? It's very interesting the way JKR handled the hair issue. Personally, no guy has ever asked HOW I got my hair to look however it did, nor would any guy be interested in finding out. The guy will usually only go far enough to compliment it.
| QUOTE |
GoF, Chapter 24: "Everybody got up late on Boxing Day. The Gryffindor common room was much quieter than it had been lately, many yawns punctuating the lazy conversations. Hermione’s hair was bushy again; she confessed to Harry that she had used liberal amounts of Sleekeazy’s Hair Potion on it for the ball, ‘but it’s way too much bother to do every day,’ she said matter-of-factly, scratching a purring Crookshanks behind the ears." |
THEN Harry mentions how Hermione and Ron were behaving post-Yule Brawl and THEN Hermione's opinion on Hagrid's news about being a half-giant. The first thing he mentions is Hermione's hair. Interesting set of priorities, Harry.

Also, it says she confessed to HARRY. Not Harry and Ron, not Ron and Harry. Harry. Again,
