Other Ships: Yes, a lot.
MOD'S NOTE: Harry/Hermione, Draco/Hermione, Founders, Draco/Fleur, one-sided and brief Ron/Hermione, Ginny/other, Sirius/?, etc.

Draco Veritas may have spoilers for OOTP
Warnings: Highly addictive.
Summary:
Part 1:

Draco Veritas by Cassandra Claire
The sequel to Draco Sinister, featuring winter at Hogwarts, snogging, Quidditch, mysterious things and Rhysenn Malfoy.
MOD'S NOTE: Warning: 1 (or a few more?) M/M kissing scene. I'm not sure if there are many D/G scenes here. ~gal-texterAll rec's shall be in the template.

From what I've read of this series, it's the 2nd part,
Draco Sinister, that has the most D/G scenes. So yeah, this thread is aptly named.
H/H are also a couple for much of the series. I'm guessing this isn't in the H/H Recs forum for the following reasons:
1) most HP fanfic readers have already heard of this, anyway,
2) H/H play supporting roles to Draco (who's the lead character, hence the series' title.)
3) H/H pairing
may change *gasps*. Writer's prerogative.
#2 is the only reason I don't read this series much. No offense meant to Draco fans. It's just that I'd rather spend my limited free time reading H/H-centric fics.
But the Draco Trilogy has witty lines and imaginative plotlines. Cassie Claire is obviously a talented writer.
Not that my opinion matters

Hehe. We're [Draco/Hermione] a rather small fan base, I have to admit.
... whispers of Draco and Harry reel me in. What I mean is, I like it better when they have this friendship-enemy thing that just boils with tension. It's so...

It's probably why I like Draco Veritas so much. They're not gay in this fic at all, and Harry's dead gone on Hermione, but the undertones of brotherly-love between Harry and Draco are so feather-light that you can't see it, but you can feel it. Yummy.
I've read that one! I can't remember where but I remember reading it. The thing about that one was Harry was dead. Haha, I know it sounds weird but Harry was dead and it's kind of a turn off thing for me once Harry dies because then I get really tough on how the author would write the characters deal with his death and how, especially, his arch-nemesis and true love would.

Isn't Harry dead? I thought that was it...Harry was dead and in his will that he wrote with Dumbledore about something something, he left the house with Hermione and Ron because he wanted them to get together or something but Ron was over his crush and was out almost all the time. Ron never wanted to talk about Harry's death so Draco was always over to comfort Hermione because she was alone in mourning Harry's death.
....right? haha, I think we're probably thinking of different fics, then.

Oh yes. Very different fic.
Draco Veritas is the third in a series of three. It's preceded by
Draco Dormiens and
Draco Sinister. All three were written by Cassandra Claire. The main premise, from which the trilogy stemmed, was that something went wrong in Potions class and Harry and Draco were stuck being each other. Draco had to put up with being Harry while Harry (in Draco's form) lay in the infirmary, unconscious. Draco gets a taste of life with Gryffindors, true friends
and Hermione's friendship. The best thing about this fic is that NO ONE goes out of character. Draco stays his acidic, sarcastic, almost-repulsive self. So yeah, Draco
does fall for Hermione, and Hermione actually finds herself considering him, because (1) He helped her save Harry; and (2) Harry already told her he only sees her as a friend (which was, to say the least, totally untrue.). By the time Hermione and Harry fall for one another, Draco is just totally gone on Hermione. Still, he stays completely in character through it all, even when he begins to warm on Ginny.
Okay, I've gone a bit

now, but let's just say I'm emphasizing my love for the Harry-Hermione-Draco triangle.

I don't want to read the entire series because I can't stomach Draco/Hermione. I could possibly handle a little as long as there was some D/G parts. So for the people who like this story and love to re-read stories, if it's possible could you copy/paste the D/G parts so that I can read them. I'd like to read every D/G part, so if you don't have anything to do I'd appreciate it.
I just don't want to read the whole series! Thanks! ~Aya

Yeah. I wouldn't call this fic a Draco+Ginny story at all. It's more of a Draco+Hermione+Harry fic... I mean, without the sessy threes*mes.
Draco+Ginny definitely has golden moments of tension, and towards the end, you can really see them falling for one another, but I still wouldn't classify this as a D+G.
kaycee_clover
May 31 2006, 07:04 PM
The Draco/Ginny parts don't really start until the second story in the series, but I am absolutely convinced that when it's finished it'll be Harry/Hermione and Draco/Ginny - might be wishful thinking on my part, though...

Cassandra Claire, the author of the famous
Draco Trilogy
AdamantEve

She is also a fixture in Harry Potter fandom, particularly in the early stages of H+G vs. H+Hr vs. R+Hr. She was on the side of H+Hr, was the Queenbee of "elite" shippers, and she wrote fanfiction like a pro. I think she was one of the founders of Schnoogle, too, but I'm not sure. I have to check back on fandom history. She was in the thick of the fandom wars when it escalated to real-life legal drama, and she seemed to have played a big role in the shutting down of a strongly H+G website once upon a time. Hehe. She's practically a legend.
The Draco Trilogy is an amazing piece of work. I don't know how many Hermione+Harry fics she wrote (or how many Hermione+Draco ones... or Harry+Draco ones), but I think lately, she's turned to writing slash for various fandoms.

Yes, her fics are in Schnoogle under Cassandra Claire. Draco Dormiens is the first, followed by Draco Sinister and Draco Veritas.
[personal opinion]I don't see her fics as any better than anyone else's. She just happened to be one of the first fic writers to gain a following. I get especially annoyed at how she lifts her dialogue wholesale from TV shows and movies, making every single character wise-cracking cool instead of an individual. I stopped reading somewhere in the middle of DV.[/personal opinion]

I think at one time her fics were ground breaking but not so much now. I remember reading the first one Draco Dormiens and loving it. But I never could get through the second one, Draco Sinister. I ended up just skipping a good deal of it. I tried to read the third one but I just kind of wondered off to other fanfics and left it behind. There is alot of angst in her fics and after while you kind of get tried of who is going to end up with who. But it is still a good read if you have time to read it.
But I do agree with puck-nc about the movie and tv show quotes. Way too many quotes from Buffy if you ask me.

Off topic a bit, but the account was absolutely fascinating, a really well detailed and documented look at the darker side of the HP fandom lol. I won't put the link because there's a fair bit of swearing, but if you want the link PM me.

She wrote the Draco Trilogy but apparently quite a few sections were taken from other people's stories without due credit being given. This eventually caused a bit of a scandal in the fanfiction world. Later on, she published her own book and apparently parts there were taken from one of the Draco stories ...
I think this is why she removed her stories from the site.

To the best of my knowledge, FF removed her stories because of the plagiarism charges and she herself removed the stories from FA. For quite a while after the removal of her stories from FA, the Draco stories were available as pdf downloads - with simply beautiful illustrations - from
http://www.heidi8.com/dt/ . However, recently this site, too, was in essence closed (downloads are no longer available). I would hazard a guess that following the charges of derivation and plagiarism leveled against her 'real' book (there are passages that apparently are taken verbatim from the Draco series), the stories were officially removed.
