Alright. I've read all of Cassandra Claire's works and love them greatly. But I heard that she had originally posted them at fanfiction.net, but then was kicked out because of plagiarism. Is that true? What happened? Did she really plagiarize? I was just wondering because I'm very confused on the subject.

I highly doubt that...I've read all of her works too, and I think she's an excellent author! not some plageriser...

But I could be wrong! *looks around* Anybody else got an answer?

I'm not sure what the whole thing is about. What I've been told by various people is that some of her plots are from Buffy universe, and sometimes they resembled too much of the buffyverse.

I'm not sure how much of it is true. I've read that it was more of an homage - but I really don't know. I don't think Cassie does need to plagerize. When you read her work, you have to admire it. And that is from one who despises the Draco/Hermione things in there and the way she characterized Harry and Hermione and Draco...

Best thing to do is to go to the source. Go to her yahoo group - look at the very early message. You'll find something there - I'm certain of it.

Okay, I really don't know if this is supposed to go here, but I'm dying to know if anyone can shed some light on this subject.
Now, if anyone has read the Draco series by Cassandra Claire, I'd just like to know if you think the series is ultimately Harry/Hermione, or Draco/Hermione. Cassie Claire has established a triangle between the three, and I was wondering if anyone has any opinions on the final couple.

I apologize if this inquiry doesn't belong here, but I'd really appreciate it if anyone can respond. Oh, by the way I'm a fanatic H/Hr shipper, and I think this site is superb. The idea of Ron/Hermione makes me ill, and if it wasn't for the excellent arguments at this site, I never would have realized just how plausible H/H is!

SPOILER ALERT for Draco Dormiens (book 1)
SPOILER!
Yep, righto there biggrin.gif
Although there's a few Draco/Hermione scenes in the beginning of the 1st "book" of the trilogy (I think it was Draco Dormiens), it eventually ends up being Harry/Hermione.

And to the people out there who haven't read it, I strongly recommend this series - it's so well-written, full of suspense, humor, a bit of drama, and a very sarcastic Draco smile.gif With many memorable quotes inbetween *cough* wink.gif

I read the first fic a while back. I never did far into the second one. I hate rollercoaster of angst and pain. The first one was nerve wracking. I ended up skimming bits. The second one was just too much of a stress to finish.

SPOILER ALERT for entire series
SPOILER!
Book One : H/Hr ending.
Book Two : More D/Hr, but I think it was also H/Hr at the end.
Book Three : I've been told The fic series is now more slashy ... ^.^ ( 99% sure)

What the series will end is anyone's guess. It's a well written series, so if you are looking to read JUST H/Hr, then it's not probably your cup of tea. But with a little open mind you'll like it. Most women I know love the series. Most Men (het) I know hate the series. Well.. That about covers it.

Nappa - you're not the only one who left this alone. I did too, couldn't figure out where to put it. Maybe we should have a separate forum for fanfic discussion?

As for the Draco Veritas series - I just don't know; I didn't like it much. It does not rank as one of my favourite fanfics.
KaiserDragon
offtopic.gif
Actually, I would like that. Some fanfics out there are rather nice to discuss and they might have valid H/Hr arguements in them. Why don't you guys make a forum for fanfic discussions in each ship?
DreamerBlue
Oh, it's one of the best series I have ever read. Because it was mainly about Draco, I never got around reading it for a while. But, it was about last year that I started reading the series because I heard so many good things about it,. It was because I heard it was a H/Hr fic, so I couldn't resist the urge to read it. Yep, the best biggrin.gif

offtopic.gif Nappa & thereader - y'know, I vote for just leaving this thread here in H/H forum. Unless we move it to General HP Discussion.

others -- the Draco Trilogy has lots of witty lines. My problem is, it's Draco who's saying most of them, and he's not my favorite character. Cassie Claire is a brilliant writer. I just prefer reading stories that center on Harry and Hermione.

Hello all,

The Draco Trilogy doesn't meet our Criteria for Recommending H/H Fics. That's why we didn't make a thread for it in there. If we move this thread there, it might lead some visitors to think it meets our Rec Criteria. (Can't elaborate without giving spoilers.)

SPOILER Alert for Draco series:
SPOILER!
Draco Trilogy book 1 -- ends in H/H, Book 2 -- still H/H, Book 3 -- in progress.

Draco gets the most exposure in all 3 books. Or at least, as much exposure as Harry or Hermione.

Again, I do think Cassie Claire is a terrific writer, with a knack for writing witty lines and imaginative scenarios.

offtopic.gif I encourage all of you to discuss fanfics in the existing Fanfic Rec threads. If there isn't a thread for your fic, then make one -- as long as the story meets Portkey's criteria for Fic Recs.

I suppose those stories that do not follow our criteria (i.e., are not centered on H/H, D/G, R/LL or L/J) may be discussed in the "General Harry Potter discussion".

These past 2 weeks, I've seen at least 5 authors* come to our forums, just so they could thank (and exchange notes) with their readers. Having a single thread about a fanfic helps both writer and reader. Hence, I try to merge or cross-link the fic discussion threads that I see.

*Lori, Angel-Wing, Amynoelle, itmonster, Aris
I know the last 2 registered in the forums after I gave them the Rec Thread URLs to their fics.
This much I know: Lori came over a day after I posted (in FAP SCUSA) the link to Portkey's POU Rec.
Amynoelle and Angel-Wing are long-time Portkey members, but haven't posted much. They did join in the discussions when they saw the Recs for their fics.

I just wanna know isn't this Fanfic forum in this H/Hr forum there just to post a link to a great H/Hr fic and not to discuss the fic itself?

I mean thats how I know it. Its possibile that I might be wrong and there is another forum for that but what I know we have there a fanfic hunting forum and this forum where you can post a link.

Maybe we could turn this PortkeyReaderChoice award forum into a general fanfic forum. Where is all in it like hunting, link and debatting fanfics this would make sense because I think the award is supposed only once in a year so this say we could use this forum like that and by the way every year vote who get the PortkeyReaderChoice award. This would really fit, don't you think?

I think I should post it on a different place too...

Hi, phoenixwriter,

IIRC, the H/H Fanfic Recs forum started out as a directory. But it has evolved into a place to discuss the recommended fics.

I've posted a "how to navigate this forum" guide in there. It's almost identical to the one I put up in the L/J Fanfic Recs forum.

You're probably confused with the template. We mods insist on using the Recommendation Template on the FIRST post of each thread (and the FIRST MENTION of a sequel or related ficlet). But we encourage other Portkey-ers to add their own comments on the fic. Just use spoiler tags when necessary.

As a reader, I'm more convinced of a fic's merits when I see at least 2 Portkey-mates endorse it 8-). The authors appreciate seeing their readers' comments in one easy-to-find thread.

Hope I cleared some of your questions
PhoenixWriter
offtopic.gif
Thank you.
You did indeed clear some of my questions but still I'm confused why not put all this things in one forum?
I mean the PortkeyReaderChoice award forum isn't used now. It would be really a lot easier if we put all this in one forum this would make it for all members easier.
See I'm a little bit longer at Portkey and did only barelly know about the changed in recommendation fanfiction forum and I guess new members don't have a clue like you might see it at these thread.

By the way I did post this allready else where in case this is OT.

*grins*

offtopic.gif Yeah, we're veering off topic. So I inserted these Off-Topic icons in our posts.

I'll volunteer to split our OT posts into a separate thread. I'm thinking of merging that with the "HOW TO USE THIS FORUM" threads up in H/H and L/J Fic Recs (since they're the ones I co-moderate).

But I'll leave these posts in this Draco thread for now, to attract attention from the other Portkey-ers. Some Portkey-ers don't read the Guides/Rules that we Mods put up. *sighs*

Good night! We'll hear from Nappa soon. Your inputs are much appreciated. I hope we didn't make poor Nappa dizzy with these.
flucias / weird4hanson
I did read it, loved it, it's very wonderfully written. I think it'll ultimately be H/Hr.. The way she's written it, though, I got the impression that Draco is in love with *both* Harry AND Hermione, although she also seems to be developing some kinda interest between him and Ginny.

I recommend it. Truly awesome fic, one of the first I read when I discovered fanfic.
gal-texter
MOD'S NOTE:

I merged 2 threads, which came from the Fanfic Hunting and H/H General Forums. I'm moved the resulting thread to General Fanfic Discussion (here). If anyone's curious, here's why I didn't move it to H/H Fic Recs.

Btw, this discussion helped bring about these Fanfic Discussion/Writing forums. This and this led to another longer exchange of ideas. Should give you guys a good idea of how quickly suggestions get responded to here in Portkey. rolleyes.gif thumbup.gif biggrin.gif

Oh - to the person who said it was suddenly slash..if you keep reading, it's not, really.. (: Anywhoo, My two Knuts: It's an awesome fic. Although it bounces around a lot, I love it. (: My favourite one is Draco Sinister..I find it the best one out of the three. Who knows why I think so, I'll just say so!
Ashes
Hmm..

It's H/Hr, no doubt, and Draco Veritas is not slash.

However, I think I must be the only one in fandom that does not love the Draco Trilogy desperately. Certainly, it is a good piece of fanfiction and there are plenty of witty lines contained within it. But it was only the hundreds of good reviews that the trilogy has recieved that made me continue reading after the whole 'heirs of the founders' bit. There are, in my opinion, more brilliant fics out there that deserve the same amount of recognition that DT gets. (That does not mean to say that DT is not good. I actually do like it, just not as much as many.)
Sakura1287
DS was very good I think, it was my favorite... but DV is just very long and drawn out.... I hate to say it went downhill but it might just be true.

Plus, as a D/G lover, it's VERY frusterating how nothing EVER happens between them even though we all see it's there. dry.gif
Quis
I agree that the triology does have it's sahre of ups and downs. I actually don't read it for the H/Hr at all but for the Draco and Harry interaction. Having said that I don't believe she's writing slash but as I said on aonther topic earlier; I'm one of those wierd people that think Harry should either leave Hermione or add Draco to the relationship.

It wasn't my intention when I decided to reply to this topic and I really hope it doesn't come back to haunt me but I'll mention it anyways. Harry and Draco here are becoming so close that it's hard to really call them two seperate people anymore. Obviously their day-to-day behaviour is still different but overall I see them having the same goals and, to a point, intentions. So we've got Harry and Draco both loving Hermione and we've got Hermione loving both of them what's the real problem with everyone getting what they want? Their devotion to eachother be it as friends, brothers or idols seems to limit any reason why this can't or shouldn't happen. The only thing that is an issue in my opinion is taboo and worldly views innocent.gif . Who knows what the WW's view on that sort of thing is, especially due to their longer life spans an unfortunate emphasis on "purer" blood.

I could go on and get more specific but, having now gained a reputation for being "sick" and "dirty-minded blush.gif ," I'll get to what I initionally wanted to say. Nothing major, simply agreeing that I did find the middle portion of the second story to drag on longer than it needed to be. But since the beginning of third story it's really grabbed my attention alot more neither has it wavered in the least with each additional chapter.
jaida1965
I have just finished printing Draco Sinister, and I'm gonna start on Draco Veritas when I get a new binder.
Dulcis Cruciatus
cool.gif I've read the Draco Trilogy.
the stories are by Cassandra Claire.
you can find them at schnoogle.com
she's a wonderful writer.
You must read the trilogy in order (dormiens, then sinister, then veritas)
in order to understand everything.
The story gets weirder with each part..but it's well written.
Out of all the fanfics I've read, this one is the best.
There's a lot of H/Hr , D/H, and D/G, H/R angst.. twisted.gif
there's no slash or anything...
This isn't a story that's stricltly romance, but the plot is fabulous.
The author stays true to the Harry Potter books, and this trilogy is the only reason why I'm so fond of Draco's character. innocent.gif
Even though there are some H/Hr scenes...it's not fluffy like a lot of other fanfics.
Also, the scenes between Draco and Ginny can be very frustrating, but I think it just adds depth to the story. heart.gif
However, Draco Veritas isn't complete yet..she (cassandra) wanted to finish OOTP so that she could include spells and bits from the book into the rest of Draco Veritas.
I hope I helped. smile.gif

I did not finish the Draco trilogy because the last I read was that Draco was more powerful then Harry.

Well, the first two were good and fine, but I never finished the third one, because I was mad when I found out it wasn't completed yet. I can't read half of a fic like that and then wait for more chapters... by the time it's updated again, I've forgotten what happened before, and it's too long to go back and re-read. wacko.gif
