It's Draco Dormiens, Draco Sinister, and then Draco Veritas.

My first fic was Serpent's Bride, not unlike many others.

Everyone keeps talking about The Draco Triolgy, so I think I might go read it. I know.... no tomatoes.... I've been reading D/G for a while now and I still haven't read it. blush.gif But that, of course, will all change.

Sadly, there isn't as much DG in there as one like myself would hope for. But it's still a classic fic, so at least attempt to read the whole thing. wink.gif

I don't really know the title of my first D/G fic I read...But it was about Draco being tutored by Ginny in potions. O.o Hahah. Yeah, I know it's odd..but it was like two years ago..or something.

And I agree on the not a lot of DG content in the Draco Trilogies...I didn't really like it blush.gif But it was still very addicting for some reason. I tried my best not to gag when there was D/Hr parts...And there were some parts where I thought there'd be D/G..and I'd always be wrong about it. So I stopped reading in the middle of the second one. offtopic.gif Ok, I think I'll stop talking..er..typing now. tongue.gif

Same here. Just when you thought the DG was going good, one of them would do something to mess it up for another few 1,000 words. rolleyes.gif

I read both the first and second, and tried to muck my way through the third one before I finally gave up half way through.

But that was definately not the first DG fics I read. It was much nearer to then end of my list.

i just started reading the draco trilogy, and i thought hey wait a minuet this sounds more like D/Hr so i stopped reading it. I think i will probably wait till i have a load of time then get through the whole lot. I Dont actually remember the fic that first got me hooked, i used to like D/Hr and then suddenly i was a D/G shipper... no idea how it came about though.

Even though I still can't remember the title of my first D/G fic, but I know it was at Harry Potter.com the site in the Books section, I've got to tell those people about Portkey!
Anne Weasley
My First D/G fic was Buffy/Harry Potter crossover called A Drop In The Ocean by Echo. It was also the first time I'd ever heard about D/G.
~*~Dracos Girl~*~
i dont remember the first D/G fic but it was at FF.net and im like hey thats a cool thing to ship, then i started searching for them when i came here( i think thats the story that got me to come here) and feel in love with them, i think i like them more then H/Hr now innocent.gif (but i still love H/Hr as well, so dont hurt me tongue.gif )

EDIT: i see that a lot of people like the serpent's bride so i went to go find it then i did and lost it so when i was going to find it i came across this site called ---> Serpent's Bride fanlisting a site all about the Serpents Bride...I just thought that the people that are in love with that fanfic would like to go there, if they dont already know about it whistling.gif innocent.gif

another great fanfic author that has kept me reading D/G is Davesmom at fanfiction.net. She has really good fics.

Davesmom is my heroine, even now she has great fanfiction, Desperado, the colour of her knikers, etc. she makes my day... (draco is IN character!)

btw, my first fic would be desperado, but after that one I read all the ones from davesmom and the from Mochabutterfly, and all the great authors.

okay, sorry if this is off topic but for those ppl who have read or are in the process of reading The Draco Trilogies I must warn you, cuz it's not finished! mad2.gif In other words it's not completeed.I just got finished reading Draco Vertias and when I was done wit chap. 13 I found out that it wasn't finished and she hasn't updated since June of last year. I was just wondering what was up with that. Also, that The Draco Trilogies were very irritating cuz right when I thought there was gonna some D/G there wasn't any. It was mostly D/HR and H/Hr so yeahh I'm just wondering what was up wit that and if she's gonna update soon r not or if I missed somethin. sorry if it was off topic offtopic.gif
Hpfreak06
well the first d/g that i read was Ginny thinks she's in love,

Great story, and i guess that's what got me reading more Ginny and Draco fanfic thumbup.gif
ShaddowPrincess
My first fic was Christmas Lights by reliena. I found it on some UC/Slash webbie back when I was obsessed with That 70s Show femslash. I found a Harry Potter section and fell in love with D/G. The rest is history! (You can't find it on any site other than the one I linked to. Trust me, I've tried!!) This fic is pure fluff. wub.gif Me wuvs fluff...

The first D/G fic I read that got me into the 'ship was actually Cassie's Draco Sinister. I was a diehard H/Hr 'shipper from the books, and I'd just gotten into the whole fandom thing. I loved Draco Dormiens, so I started reading Sinister and I was hooked instantly. I know there's been talk of how it's not really a D/G story, but for some reason, I'm totally hooked on any scene that the two are in together. The dialog is always snappy, and I love their characterizations. When ever the new chapters come out, I scan them for D/G stuff before I actually do anything else.

Also, I love that their relationship is littered with angst. I love angst. Love it.

As far as the D/Hr stuff goes...well, it does make me want to vomit. But it's at least a well written vomit worthy 'ship.
Turtle The Insane Superstar
Well i read a few D/G before "My Beloved Ferret" by Sakura1287 and after that i ipped D/G! It's a great story!
mona_punk
The famous 'Serpent's Bride' by Reiko is ONE of my MANY d/g first fic that I have read...
peanutbutterperfect
hmm....The first time I read any D/G was in the back of a Harry/Hermione fic. I thought: that's interesting, and surprisingly works for me. My first actual D/G fic was A Little Child to Lead Them by StrangerWithMyFace.....unsure.gifI think. Don't really remember.
Daria
My first Draco/Ginny fanfic (and my favourite) is Dreams by silverbutterfly.I read it on this site.It was such a lovely story!Ginny has strange dreams about Draco and on the train they kiss. When the dreams get worse Ginny visits Draco at his mansionand he tells her about a curse...
Tears_ofthe_Phoenix
Well the fic that got me into D/G was "The Pleasure of Your Company"(still is my favourite) but I don't think it exists anymore sad.gif anyways it was really good and ever since I've read it, It has been pure D/G bliss lol
chuya
My first d/g was Trademark Smirks and Temperamental Redheads by Rea Yume but the one fic that really got me hooked was Footprints, by LadyRhiyana

Yep, it was Serpent's Bride by Reiko Naoe for me too (it's on AT on Fictionalley if you want to go look at it *prod prod*)  Did you know she's making a sequel or a new really awesome D/G fic?  That's what I heard from her beta at least...

~Nicole

actually the first FANFIC (and best) I ever read was Serpent's Bride. That started off all HP fics for me wub.gif

And I emailed her and she said she was starting the sequel. But she has doubts because there has been lots of people stealing her story and calling it their own sleep.gif

What was the first Draco/Ginny fic I read? Well... It all started one fateful day about three years ago. I had just finished the Harry Potter books and had found, in a stroke of pure and blinding luck, fanfiction.net. I can't remember if they didn't have the character sorter up yet or if I just hadn't noticed it (insert sweatdrop appropriately). Now, back then I was a major Harry/Hermione fanatic and only finding Ron/Hermione and Harry/Draco was starting to annoy me. Then I saw it, like a gem among... some non-pretty... not-gem... thingies.

"Wrongfully Accused" by Mocha Butterfly

I was so glad to have found something that wasn't slash that I clicked it immediately. And the rest, as they say, is history. biggrin.gif
magical mischief maker
Hmm, the writer was 'Mocha Butterfly', [Sp?] although I have forgotten the name of the fic itself. Ginny and Drco get's transported to medieval England or something like that... It might sound pretty cliche today but back then it was pretty new and nicely done.

The title is "All You Need Is Love." That is a great fiction, seen as cliche or not. smile.gif --Crystal, 9/2

I wonder why this is so many people's first fic. It was mine too.

Agreed. I could read this again and it would still be a lovely fic.

Honestly- it was never really a favorite of mine. I mean, I really liked it and all- but other classics come before. AYNIL, Our Winter by Jade, Serpernt's Bride by reiko, etc., etc.

It's been so long since I read it.. I cant give it a fair evaluation.. all I know is that it hooked me on D/G and I never went back.

i can't remember what hooked me on D/G, i kno wit was one of those "Ginny has changed over the summer and wants revenge on ron for no reason..." I used to actually like those fics, before my brain got taste! But hey i suppose i have them to thank for showing me the light... and turning me away from D/Hr...

Yeah I started with D/Hr as well. Only got through about 5 fics before I discovered D/G though, thankfully.

My first D/G fic was, I'm pretty sure, The More is my Unrest. It = heart.gif. Then I went and read Rising from Ashes, which sealed it for me: D/G was the ship of my heart.

Both those fics are uber-fics, though, and having started by reading the best I tend to be outrageously picky in my reading and wish there were more D/G uber-fics in the world. blush.gif
moogle
I can't remember if I have replied here or not lol.

Well anyway it was Draco Sinister. But funnily enough, I didn;t read the fic, it was actually someone just posting a snippet in their favourite ship moments.

The part where Ginny goes into Daco's room and he is in the bed naked lol

Anyway, I thought, hey that sounds like a cool fic, so I went and read the whole thing. After that, I just went and read all the D/G fics I could get my hands on. My favourites are definitly, "The colour of her knickers" by Davesmom and "Misconceptions" by heartscadence I think the author is. Two very good fics.
HPottersWoman
Mine was Dragon Tears, that's actually what made me love Draco it was the way the writer portrayed him. Seriously if u haven't read that yet, u so should, it would make u love him even more (well in my opinion anyway!) and it makes u wish you were Ginny, lol! blush.gif
magi_luver
i have no idea what my first D/G fic was... but i think it was something about draco and ginny having prophecies that their mothers showed to them...
i think i saw it on portkey.. but now i can't even find it *wimpers* if anyone remembers it, reply ASAP! i think that was the one that made me acknowledge the ship and be interested.

hmm. the draco trilogies huh?? may try it out sometime... i'm in the process of reading 'The Vampiress and The Veelan' and 'The Elemental Prophecies:part one' by NivalVixen on fanfiction.net. these two actually made me so immersed that i'm now a die-hard fan!
IcedGinNTonic
before my first DG fic, I think I read a 0.5th one? I used to be a big H/G fan (forgive me) o_o, and was reading 'Galatea' by Irina with k i n d a some DG involved.. with this thing of Harry and Draco being her 'protectors' and her and Draco 'bleeding into each other'.. before I was like.. NOO.. I LOVE HG.. RIGHT? O_O .. but I couldn't help but love the bit of DG-ness in it..

so officially i finally gave in and my 1st DG fic I read was 'The Source' by Luckyducky7 .. and I bloody loved it. o_o I got hooked and have been a huge DG fanatic ever since <3
Salamon2
It really wasn't a fic, it was a realization to me. Although I read a D/G story (H/Hr were in it so that's how I was introduced into the idea). What made sense to me with D/G was that Ginny is a girl that is a Lioness. By that I mean astrologically. Which means she's one of those glamorous ones who needs to be pampered. Harry just can't supply her in that category IMO. He doesn't know how to pamper anyone. Draco on the other hand is the type of Don Juan/Caso Nova that really knows how to pamper a woman, IMO. Ginny would be like Gabrielle Solize on Desperate Housewives, that's my vision of the adult version of her.

Hmm...I actually don't read much D/G...there's one here on PK, called Beyond Redemption: A Perfect Tragedy, by Ve., however, that I like. It's still in progress. Haven't seen an update in a while, though...
Harmonian Wonder
The first one that started it for me is right here at Portkey (no suprise). I can remember reading it right after signing up on the forums. It's called A Stroll In Your Shoes. Draco and Ginny switch bodies, and all that goodness. The only thing I wasn't fond of was the subtle Hermione/Blaise relationship. But it was truly brilliant.
Chloris
Wow...I never used to be a D/G fan, but after checking out the story mentioned on the first page "Lessons of the Heart", I don't think I'll ever stop loving it! It's quite interesting and it has to be written well, but it works so well!

AWwww man, you just totally made my day with that!!!! I'm sorry you didn't like the Blaise/Hermione, I'm a big H/hr shipper too, but it just ended up that way.
Harmonian Wonder
No, you don't have to apologize. I just read it again the other day, and the Blaise/Hermione factor wasn't nearly as big as I thought it was... more subtle. It was really enjoyable, actually, when reading a good fice where Harmony isn't in it and/or the major plot. Really brilliant job with it, btw. Really enjoyable.

Oh, and I just remembered another DG fan fiction I read that was enjoyable. It's Fool's Dance, I believe. Ginny tries to get Harry to ask her to the dance, but ends up going with Draco.
moogle
You are my favourite person right now!!

I feel so special, I wrote Fool's Dance too, ehhehehe biggrin.gif

Aww yay, I'm glad you liked it the second time round smile.gif
Harmonian Wonder
That's funny. You are a really talented author.
moogle
Aww thanks you!!!!

Another really good fic, is where Draco and Ginny go to this other world. I think it's called the Otherland or something. if someone could clear this up, that would be cool biggrin.gif
TwistedPixie
all i can remember is that there was something to do with a cat....
Gwendra
My first D/G fic was Milk by Alecto, but what really concreted it was reading The Soul Keeper and Serpent's Bride. Nothing like the Classics to pull you in. tongue.gif
moogle
Oh, I've never read Milk.

Care to give a link?

I've been desperate to read some good D/G stories for ages now. I've read every recommendation on Portkey that has been posted and I'm in desperate need of a D/G fix, or else I will have to start re-reading them again. (And I have a horibbly good memory for stories so I never get the "oh, it's like reading a new story" feeling.
PrincessWhizbee
I first got into R/Hr and H/G fanfiction (don't throw things!) and really liked stories by the author Arabella over at sugarquill.net. I was looking through her stories list and found "The More is My Unrest" by her and Jedi Boadicea. It's not totally D/G, but it "considers" the idea. They also wrote a changed version which turned into "Rising from the Ashes" and that was my first real D/G fic. And I've been hooked ever since.

So you see, good can come from R/Hr and H/G shippers! biggrin.gif
Nymphe
After I got tired of weirdness of OBHWF, I read the actual canon, and cringed! My first fanfic after that disaster was Dark Directed by Fearthainn and I still love it. Ginny/Neville is cute and nice, but Ginny/Draco has much better potential of angst and the struggle with the grey areas of life (=hot sex, in my book).
BeautifulLie
I really cant remember. I think the first time I read any D/G-ness was only as a subship in a H/Hr one

The first D/G fic that I remember is Dragon and Angel. That story blew me away actually. Look for it on Portkey search if you havent read it. Infact i must re-read that..
pumpkingurl
hm... when? actually the first DG pairing that got me hooked was in a fanfic I made (which sadly wasn't published because I didn't finish it) I just wanted to twist the harry Potter universe and even though it was HHR... I just loved the idea of DG... the conflict was just too good... so I searched in ff.net and the rest is history...

I think it was the one done by jazzygeorgie... like an alternative or complementary story with Cresent Moon... can't remeber the title though... but it was one heck of a story and I loved it so much... its the first DG fic I've ever read!!
