However, if her purpose was to be Harry's love interest, JK should have put her more in the front line from the beginning, to let us know her better. I'm sure many can picture her personality from what we are given, but I feel we know too little of her to really be able to see her as Harry's love interest. Of course this is just my opinion.
Exactly! There! That is what JKR should have done! Given us more about her. She shouldn't have to be someone Harry likes in the first book, or something like that, but she should have been mentioned more often. JKR could have even worked with the 'I have a crush on Harry' idea and still given us enough Harry and Ginny time to be satisfied.
Harry and Ginny could have been real friends from before. Ginny could have had the same character status as her brother and Hermione. She could have been more involved. Then, maybe I could see it. Maybe I could understand it.
But. She. Was. Hardly. There.
So the idea of Harry and Ginny is inconceivable!
I also believe Ginny's point of existence was to get together with Harry and make babies. She was Scenery!Ginny book 1-5 then in HBP she has more page time than all previous books combined. I liked Scenery!Ginny she was just there with her innocent crush on the-boy-who-lived. Gutsy without being mean and wasn't perfect. Though in DH she went back to being Scenery!Ginny so I can't really hate her. I feel sorry that her character got no build-up I mean it felt like Cho had more. Is it so much to ask for a developed character for Harry...? *sigh*
Oh, yeah. The old Ginny was much better She pined away for Harry way too long...which was sort of creepy but she was a fangirl so you didn't mind so much. You knew, eventually she would get over it. It's normal to be crushing on a celebrity. But you know, in reality you might not get him, so you stop dreaming. I thought Ginny would come to her senses.
But no...she keeps on dreaming. Even after the break up (I still haven't read that birthday kiss scene in the book. Ugh. Ick)
Compared to Ginny, Harry's crush on Cho had way more substance. Comparing Luna's involvement in the book to Cho and Ginny, Luna had the most important role. How ironic. Ginny, whom we've somewhat known since the first book, has a lesser role than Luna, who we first see in OOtp.
And we know a lot more about Luna than we know about Ginny. Oh, the irony.
I would prefer H/Hr of course, but H/LL would've been awesome.
No, I wouldn't have minded Luna/Harry. Made more sense than Ginny. Luna had more pages than Ginny. Of course it would have made sense! That was my little back-up ship, if sweet Harmony did not sail.
