Full Version: What gets you in the mood to read D/G fics?

Sorry if this thread's already been done, I didn't check. blush.gif

But I was wondering if you had any particular habits while reading or writing D/G fanfics (e.g. listening to music, eating, scratching your nose...)?

When I read fanfics I've found that I'm partial to either silence or music without lyrics (usually ends up being classical music).

And I used to write in silence, as music distracted me and made it hard to focus for very long at one time, though I did find out a couple days ago that certain songs gave me ideas to write about, and I couldn't write efficiently without looping those songs over and over and over again. Annoying, but it got the job done. ph34r.gif

I have a huge CD collection and will switch to suit my moods. When I write darker fics I find I listen to a lot of Elizabeth (movie soundtrack), Passion of the Christ, Nightwish, etc etc.

In reverse, my cutsie, fun fics tend to be a lot of Final Fantasy OSTs and stuff like Sugababes and other upbeat stuff.

Music always helps me, and I can't do anything with out it.

i cant listen to anything when i'm reading a story, it confuses me and i tend to find that i'm not really reading it properly.

i seem to get a few ideas about what to write, at night, just before i'm going to bed, so i have to write it down and get it started. i dont really like listening to anything when i'm writing as i tend to start writing what i hear, which is quite annoying at times. lol

haha, how annoying. That would be something if it happened to me. I can imagine my fics would be very odd.

I'm a really music oriented person, so I always have to have something playing. It's just weird otherwise.

Oh, sometimes I can be inspired by movies and other fanfics too.

nice to meet you, TwistedPixie! smile.gif

Yeah I usually always have to have music, 'cause I consider music my life, more so than books or writing. But the way I figure it, since it takes precedence, that's exactly where the problem lies - I find myself wanting to sing along or just sit there and listen, rather than write or read. biggrin.gif
moogle
Lol,I'm the opposite, the words seem to just feed into my brain and scream inspiration at the top of its lungs, and then the result are the sometimes bizarre fics I turn out... hrm...

I just realised I can blame it on the music now.

hey turkish, nice to meet you too. *hangs head in shame* 157 posts since April this year! oh my! my pathetic amount of posts pale in comparrison to yours even though i've been here over 2 years!! lol

moogle
Don't worry, TwistedPixie, I've been here for almost four years and these past few weeks I have jumped from near 1000 to 1772. That's almost double of what I had gathered over four years laugh.gif

Once I start posting, I can never stop. laugh.gif Unless I ban myself from a board. Which, sadly, I've totally done. mellow.gif
moogle
I've done that quite a lot too. Portkey is the only one that gets saved from my impulsive banning attitude because I write fanfiction here. I actually was intending to leave Portkey last year but I ended up staying laugh.gif
turkish
Yeah I really can't stay away forever from boards that I get attached to... except for one exception. laugh.gif

Thank God you decided to stay! Always good to come across D/G fans. tongue.gif
moogle
Hehe, so very true. I'm desperately trying to get some friends from my old boards to join up, but the sad thing is that none of them are really D/G fans. The good majority are D/Hr fans sad.gif
