Favorite Moments...hmm... loads. I'll pick a couple from each book
SS/PS
(Midnight Duel; chapt. 9)
"Excuse me."
They both looked uup. It was Hermione Granger.
"Can't a person eat in peace in this place?" said Ron.
Hermione
ignore him and spoke to
Harry...
<later>
"Malfoy tricked you," Hermione said to Harry. "You realize that, don't you? he was never going to meet you--Flich knew someone was going to be in the tophy room, Malfoy must have tipped him off."
Harry thought she was probably right, but he wasn't going to tell her that.
*Very cute* in an immature way of course, but still...it induces warm and fuzzy feelings
(Halloween chpt 10)
Harry suddenly grabbed Ron's arm.
"
I've just thought---
Hermione."
"what about her?"
"She doesn't know about the troll."
Ron bit his lip
"Oh, all right," he
snapped. "But Percy'd better not see us."
Hermione Granger was shrinking against the wall opposite looking as if she was about to faint.
The troll was advancing on her, knocking the sinks off the walls as it went.
"Confuse it!"
Harry said
desperately to Ron, and
seizing a tap, he threw it as hard as he could against the wall. The troll stopped a few feet from Hermione. It lumbered around, blinking stupidly, to see what had made the noise. Its mean little eyes saw
Harry. It hesitated, then made for him instead, lifting its club as it went. (175)
Most people don't notice this scene, but it is extremely important. Not only Harry first thought of Hermione, but he was also the first one that reacted. He was desperate and threw a tap at the troll. He drew the troll from Hermione to himself. He was willing to "sacrifice" himself for Hermione. It is very touching.
"Come on, run, run!" Harry yelled at Hermione, trying to pull her toward the door, but she couldn't move, she was still flat against the wall, her mouth open with terror. (175)
touching...touching...
*********
Hermione hung her head.
Harry was speechless. Hermione was the last person to do anything against the rules, and here she was, pretending she had, to get them out of trouble.
<later>
"We should have gotten more than ten points," Ron grumbled.
"Five you mean, once she's taken off Hermione's."
"Good of her to get us out of trouble like like," Ron admitted. "Mind you, we
did save her."
"She might not have needed saving if we hadn't locked the thing in with her," Harry reminded him.Harry appreciated Hermione's efforts, while Ron still thought that she *should* have taken the blame. Harry then proceeded to defend Hermione. It was the first time Harry ever stood up for Hermione, to Ron, in fact, and to think, they weren't even friends then...
(chapt 16; through the trapdoor)
Hermione's lip trembled, and she suddenly dashed at Harry and threw her arms around him.
"Hermione!"
"Harry--you're a great wizard, you know."
"I'm not as good as you," said Harry, very embarrassed, as she let go of him.
"me!" said hermione. "Books! And Cleverness! There are more important things--friendship and bravery and--oh Harry--be careful!"
Completely squeal worthy moment...
*******
(The Man with two faces; chpt 17)
"D'you think he [Dumbledore] meant you to do it?" said Ron. "Sending you your father's cloak and everything?"
"
Well," Hermione
exploded, "if he did--I mean to say--that's terrible---you could have been killed." (302)
Seems like Hermione cares for Harry so much that she's even willing to criticize Dumbledore, whom, we all know, she admires very much.

CoS
(Chpt 13; the secret diary)
Hermione left the hospital wing, de-whiskered, tail-less, and fur-free, at the beginning of February. On her
first evening back in the Gryffindor Tower, Harry showed her T.M. Riddle's diary and told her the story of how they had found it.
"oooh, it might have hidden powers," said Hermione enthusiastically, taking the diary and looking at it closely.
"If it has, it's hiding them very well," said Ron. "Maybe it's shy. I don't know why you don't
chuck it, Harry."
"I wish I knew why someone did try to chuck it," said Harry. "I wouldn't mind knowing how Riddle got an award for special services to Hogwarts either.""Could've been anything," said Ron. "Maybe he got 30 O.W.Ls or saved a teacher from the giant squid. Maybe he murdered Mytle; that would've done everyone a favor...."
But Harry could tell from the arrested look on Hermione's face that she was thinking what he was thinking."
What?" said Ron,
looking from one to the other.
"Well, the
Chamber of secrets was opened fifty years ago, wasn't it?" he said. "That's what Malfoy said."
"yeah..." said Ron slowly.
"
And this diary is fifty years old," said Hermione, tapping it excitedly.
"So?"
"Oh, Ron, wake up," snapped Hermione...(233)
Talk about mental connection...
*********
I've written too much.
I love PoA; the entire book, especially when Harry defends Hermione to Ron...awww
and also the time-turner adventure...
GoF
-walk around lake
-Hermione being worried about Harry
-Hermione + Harry spending a night working on summining charm
-Hermione clutching her face instead of Ron's arm
-Harry noticing Hermione in the Ball
-Harry defending Hermione to Pansy
-Hermione soothing Harry about the articles
-Harry and Hermione standing up to Rita Skeeter for Hagrid. Actually the incident is very interesting.
"Trying to ruin someone else's life?' said Harry loudly.
A few people looked around. Rita Skeeter's eyes widened behind her jeweled spectacles as she saw who had spoken.
"harry!" she said, beaming, "How lovely!"Why don't you come and join--?"
"I wouldn't come near you with a ten-foot broomstick," said Harry
furiously. "What did you do that to
Hagrid for, eh?"
...
Rita Skeeter's smile flckered very slightly, but she hitched it back almost at once; she snapped open her crocodile-skin handbag, pulled out her Quick-Quotes Quill, and said, "How about giving me an interview about the
Hagrid you know,
Harry? The man behind the muscles?
Your unlikely friendship and reasons behind it. Would
you call him a father substitute?"
Hermione stood up
very abruptly, her butterbeer clutched in her hand as though it were a grenade.
"You horrible woman,' she said through
gritted teeth, "you
don't care, do you, anything for a story, and
anyone will do, won't they? even Ludo Bagman---"
"Sit down, you silly girl, and don't talk about things you don't understand,' said Rita Skeeter coldly, her eyes hardening as they fell on Hermione. "i know things about Luda Bagman that would make your hair curl...not that it needs it---" she added eyeing hermione's bushy hair.
"Let's go," said Hermione, "c'mon, Harry--Ron..." (450-451)
This is interesting because at First, Rita and Harry were talking about Hagrid. Harry was furious at Rita. Then Rita suggested doing an article from Harry's POV, and Hermione stood up "very abruptly". Something prompted her to do that. Something stimulated her to stand up. The question is, who? Hermione likes Hagrid, but she was able to hold her anger in, but when Rita turns to Harry, Hermione explodes. Hermione was also angry, but her anger is caused by what? Rita's insults to Hagrid or Harry?
BTW, doesn't the last sentence seem weird? It's almost as if Hermione added Ron as an afterthought.
-Oooo, there's always the infamous cheek kiss...
*whew* way to long...
