Kick Keswick and Thomas Curtis of a new book series im really liking- Kick is an independent, intelligent woman who, like hermione, tries to make herself fit into a new world as best she can and succeeds and in the first book Brilliant is tricked by a rude, jealous slob who is just using her, though unlike hermione Kick figures it out quickly enough to get out of the potentially fatal relationship and instead gets with Commander Thomas Curtis, a man who shares many of Kick's interests and talents and he happens to be a hero to those who know one aspect of him, what they want to see, both also have a very harry-ish tendency to jump to conclusions and they work fantastically together to solve various problems
also
michael weston and fiona of burn notice- michael is a good guy who gets burned by those he works with, much like harry was burned by the wizarding world enlarge in his 5th year, and he's quick thinking under pressure and inventive and grew up in an abusive enviroment like harry did, i think he has elements of what Harry could have been, and Fiona is the intelligent, connected woman who can not only keep up with him but can stay a step ahead, she's a little more trigger happy than hermione but like hermione she has a soft spot for the under dog and they both have a slight 'saving people' thing, plus they're just so gosh darned CUTE together!

I picked up a new comic book series from Vertigo,
Unwritten. I was hooked in the first few pages for two reasons.
(1) The riffs on the current state of children's/YA lit were too funny and too scarily true to life. The writer takes swipes at Milne, Rowling, Snicket, and several others along the way.
(2) In the inserted scene from the fantasy series, there are two characters searching for the battle between Tommy the Hero and the Villain, a boy (Peter) and a girl (Sue). We get the sense that the girl is the brains of the operation and the boy is the sidekick. When they find the site of the battle, with the Villain vanquished and Tommy near death, Sue immediately runs to gather Tommy in her arms, pleading for his life.
And as I read on, there's another setting up of a man and a woman...he's not the hero yet but he may well end up as such and she's the clever one.
It's only the first issue of the comic--next one's not out until June--but I wouldn't be surprised if the writer is one of us to some extent.

Has anyone read
Valiant by Holly Black? If you haven't you should its fantastic! Anyway Val (Valerie) falls in love with a noble troll by the name of Ravus.
Although Val is in no way bookish or mothering like Hermione, she is very brave and self sarcrificing. Ravus is similar to Harry in the sense he is very noble and takes on guilt from things that aren't actually his fault. He is also self sacrifcing. They may not seem similar on the surface but if you look closer you can see Harry/Hermione in there.
A few scenes that get me is one in which Ravus explains his past to Val. Val immediatly comforts him, and he seems unware of it (typical Harry). In another scene Ravus believes Val betrayed him, it absoutly wrecks Val, but she still willing to help him even though he hurt her. Ravus constantly pushes Val away but shes still there and always will be. H/Hr anyone?

That does sound very H/Hr, littleBeastie! I've never read the books, but you've got me interested!
A relationship that is very obviously like H/Hr is the relationship between Tom and Hannah in 'Made of Honor'. I wouldn't say I adored the movie by any definition (it resorts to somewhat sophomoric humor at times and that in itself is enough to put me off) but Tom and Hannah are best friends. Tom is quite the lady's man, to put it politely, and he goes for looks and who can give him the most pleasure that particular night. (Harry's not quite that bad, but he does have a thing for girls with the best looks and least personality.) Hannah is a passionate museum... curator, I think the term is... who somehow manages to set his head on straight and still be a close friend. They enjoy silly conversations and know each others' feelings and dislikes. Interestingly, Hannah's the one who most often chides Tom for his ways, never hesitating to stand up to him or challenge him about his ideas about love.
Admittedly, Harry and Hermione never have a 'real' confession scene in which Harry/Tom finally manages to spit the 'I love you' out to his intelligent and spunky best friend, but they do have conversations about love. In a rather indirect sense, I suppose, but as Padfoot_Lives points out, Hermione is the only person that Harry puts the word 'love' together with in a verbal sentence.

Has anybody ever noticed that Duke/Viola from "She's the Man" have a Harry/Hermione thing going on?
Like, he tells her things that he normally wouldn't tell anybody else. Harry is always telling Hermione things that he wouldn't tell anybody else. There are times that Viola just knows about Duke, likewise with Hermione. . . am I making any sense?

I agree with Jamal/Latika that one scene with the train always reminds me of the first book with and the troll scene.
I can't think of any other couples I ship that fall into the Harry and Hermione catagory to be honest...I consider them pretty unique.
I actually am reminded of them when I see pairings that aren't intended but that steal the story so work. (ex/ Pacey and Joey from Dawson's creek...except the creator wasn't a moron and changed the path to accompany the chemistry between the two characters.) If only JK Rowling had done the same *sigh*

I know alot of couples that remind me of h/hr I can think of 2 ones...
1st couple: Mary/Dickon- The Secret Garden:
I never read the book I only saw the movie.. I though they were sooo sweet and adorable... The actors who portrayed their character had amazin chemistry like danandemma..When I watched the movie I was like they are going to be together I know it but then when one of my friends told me she read the secret garden book she said that Mary gets married to her cousin Colin.. which I think is gross but I guess it was normal back then.. This sorta reminds of hp alil bit.. u got mary who is like Hermione u have dickon who is like harry and u have colin who is like ron(i mean he didnt have a big family and all but he reminds me alil bit cause of the jealously between mary and dickon...I see harry and hermione in them when they were younger and Mary and dickon is a couple who i will ship.
2nd couple: Monica/Andrew-Touched By An Angel:
I know usually when I say their names.. most people are like u cant ship because they are angels and not human beings..I know but this is what I think...I think they are really awsome together...They are angels who do assignments on earth to help human beings and to ask to believe in god and sort of stuff like that. I cant help but the chemistry these two have. You have Monica who is the main angel who is nice and sweet.. mostly leading lady. You have Andrew who is the angel of death...meanin when you are fixing to die he is the one who stand by u and takes you home to god. He is a good angel also actually all of these good angels..He is the leading Man. The actors who portrayed them have amazin characters too.. they remind the older verison of harry/hermione(even though hhr are wizard and witch and these are angels but u know what I mean)..They are always there for each other was the best of friends..Their characters didnt get together on the show cause the show got cancel after 9 seasons.. but I will forever ship them no matter what any1 says.

Vada and Thomas J. Sennett of My Girl (1991).
Best friends but something... more. Vada is intelligent like Hermione. Thomas wears glasses like Harry.

They're both kids and so, the pairing is very interesting and true.
Quotes from the movie (courtesy of IMDB):
Thomas J. Sennett: Vada?
Vada Sultenfuss: Yeah?
Thomas J. Sennett: Would you think of me?
Vada Sultenfuss: For what?
Thomas J. Sennett: Well, if you don't get to marry Mr. Bixler.
Vada Sultenfuss: I guess. Everyone go "Aww!" now.
Oh yeah, and 11-year old Anna Chlumsky -- the girl who played Vada on the film -- looks like a miniature version of Emma Watson. And 11-year old Macaulay Culkin (aka Kevin McCallister from Home Alone and Richie from Richie Rich) played the lanky, awkward, allergic-to-everything, geeky Thomas J who wears glasses.

Hmm, How about Temperance Brennan and Seeley Booth, from the Series
Bones? I can see the impulsive tendencies of Harry in Booth, and the obvious smarts of Brennan. They've got this psudo-relationship that screams out "THEY'RE TOGETHER!" but they're not, which basically
was the assumptions of the characters in the book for H/Hr
Wiki the series
tis good

Hey, everyone!
it's been a long time, it feels~~~
Bones/Booth, definitely xD
I don't watch the show too often, but each time I catch it on... it's always about those two, and everyone knows it.
I've been re-watching Mysterious Ways, and Miranda/Declan reminded me of H/Hr so had to come here for the old times. Episode was called The Greater Good. It began with them finding this miraculous cloth that could cure illnesses, and Miranda gets infected with a weird bacteria or something, and since the cloth is like 2000 years old is disintegrating. In the end Declan has to decide between saving Miranda and humanity, LOL and even though She makes the choice for him and tells him not to use it on her, he does, which ends up with him sort of getting arrested but she wakes up. He kisses her forehead, and she grabs his hand and doesn't want to let go.
Declan and Miranda investigate what he calls "miraculous phenomena" - he's an anthropology professor with a lot (not) of free time in his hands. He is often spontaneous and gets carried away with his feelings. Miranda is super intelligent, a Physicist who helps him as an assistant in classes, and on experiments.

Julia and Reed in Valentine's Day or Jennifer Garner and Ashton Kutcher. If you're like me, you remembered the actors' and not the character's names as there were so many in that movie. I actually had to look up the character's names.
Anyway, they are very H/Hr. They're best friends who, at first, are both in other relationships that they think are great.
Reed proposes to his girlfriend, who at first accepts but later leaves him as she wasn't ready for a committment. Julia was with a man she thought was divorced but was actually still married. Both Julia and Alphonso (another friend of Reed's) felt that his girlfriend wasn't right for him and he felt betrayed because no one told him. When Reed learned about Julia's boyfriend he told her about it. They both realize that they were meant for each other.
