Lately I've noticed things have become very quiet in the D/G corner, and not just here but everywhere. D/G has become less and less apparent, and less fics are being posted too.
Are we just losing our enthusiasm for the ship we love, or has DH really taken such a toll on us that we no longer care?
For me I will always ship D/G and probably always write fanfiction, even if I tell myself I won't. I just wish everyone else would get into it again too.
So how can we revive the beauty that is D/G? I know I want to, but I certainly can't do it myself.

Well, I'm not sure what's really happening. D/G wasn't the most enormous ship even back in the day when millions of Harmonians fooled themselves into thinking it was a canonical possibility. With the other failed ships, everybody can at least look back on the books, the theories, and see that it could have happened. With D/G, that's not an option: At best, you have fanfiction and more fanfiction. It's very, very difficult to try to tell yourself that in her heart of hearts JKR did intend to write DG, like you can with HHR and RL: You have to squint for subtext so hard that even a Pumpkiner will think it's stretching the taffy (and believe me, subtext has to be REALLY ridiculous for you HHRs to think it's a stretch).
I myself actually didn't become a D/G shipper until post-DH, which was when I basically found out it existed. Quite frankly, the idea of it in canon, especially alongside HHr, disgusts me personally, but one D/G shipper at a time, as it goes...
Besides, DH caused a LOT of people to hate Ginny even more and adore Draco even more; that's another factor in Draco/Ginny's popularity.
As for reviving... If it's just the two of us, Moogle, I promise that I'll be with you all the way. Together! Together! Together...! On with the S.S. Fire & Ice! (Not the HMS Muffin Love...)

It's hard to scrounge up writers. I had a pretty crack idea with D/G and I might write it, but...*sigh* I've hit the wall. Maybe we should make a big event. Problem comes in recruiting and finding reliable authors.

Well I wasn't much of an outspoken D/G fan...I just tend to lurk lol.
But I've read many D/G fics, but as Draco&GinnyConvert has said...DH has made me hate Ginny. Most of the fics I read are usually the ones that are 1-5 canon. That's because its in those books where I have usually adored Ginny's character. Not in books 6&7 where her character seems to be forced to be with someone that she obviously did not belong with.( Got to take a deep breath before my HHrness get the better of me and start ranting)
I like this partnership more than the other ones that authors partner Ginny with. Maybe its the romantic in me who likes the idea that someone like Draco can change Ginny. And someone who seems to be in the shadows all the time has the power and the heart to seem the greater side of Draco

Fire melting the Ice awww.
:sigh: I think I'm going to go read some more D/G fics now.
I hope authors keep on writing. I know many amazing authors out there and i would be really sad if you guys just give up.
Keep on writing and I'll keep on reading!

I don't think many of us ever really thought D/G would happen in the books. I would sometimes hope, but it wasn't a very big hope. I've always seen them as a fanon ship.
That being said, I do love the ship to pieces, as it is my favourite pairing.
Hobbes, you should not give up!! If we just all put it out there then it will pick up again, but you're right that we need reliable writers. I'm always up for anything anyway.
It's been pretty cool how purple has finally been noticeable on the fanfiction are of portkey for the past few days

I was generally a very quiet D/G shipper because like moogle said, I always thought it was a fanon ship. I always hoped, but then I always hoped for Harry and Hermione too. With DH came some serious Ginny hate on both sides of the fence I like to think, just because her character changed dramatically, in an anticlimatical and disturbing way. Anyway, away from that. I do love reading D/G fics, and personally I wish there were more of them. *sigh* Maybe we can gather up some people to start writting again.

I never really hated Ginny to be honest. She's always been a character I've liked, and even in DH I didn't hate her. She just unfortunately got forgotten about by JKR, which makes me feel rather sorry for the H/G shippers.
Writing her so much in fanfiction makes it easier too. She's such a well-known character to me now.

It's hard to post in here when there's no discussion. I've been busy with assignments and trying to get chapters of my fanfiction written while I can.
I really want to liven up this place again though.

http://fanfiction.portkey.org/profile/19923That's a link to my portkey profile. (Gosh, I feel like such a self-adveritiser, lol).
We definitly need to do something though. Anyone got any ideas? For threads or maybe a small D/G fanfic challenge for all the board, etc?

Well, I started a round robin but nobody's been responding.... *panderpander*
The problem with me personally putting any D/G ficage on *this* site is that, for reasons too long to explain right now, I just CAN'T STAND H/Hr. *sigh*
moogle

You don't need to put H/Hr in your fics. Very few of my fics have H/Hr in them, and if they ever do it'll be the barest mention.
I looked at your round robin but I am unsure where you actually want that to go. Is there any particular plot you are wanting to explore, or is it simply free for all?

Heathen.
It doesn't really matter. The only rule is that H/Hr can't be a broken ship, so if you don't mention them at all, technically you're not breaking any rules. Besides, it's a D/G fic, right? Who's reading for the H/Hr anyway?

Hear, hear! I actually have a fic that has Harry/Pansy and Ron/hermione in it, but shhh don't tell anyone, otherwise it might get deleted
Draco/Ginny are perfect in the fact that the only shippers they really bother are H/G, and we don't get much of those around here anyway, ehhee.

*ahem* Sailer of the OC right here?
The only problem is that my in-the-works D/G opus features HEAVY H/G and H/P, as well as Dransy and heRmiONe more minorly. Darnit. Maybe nobody'll notice.
I'll go churn out more challenges, I suppose: "I Dream of Ginny" and that-one-post-Final-Battle-bunny. The last one worked out and produced a D/G fic, yay, let's hope that happens again

I suppose you have to look at it this way DracoGinnyConvert. Is it really necessary to have their relationships shown explicitly? I simply gloss over them if I am having R/Hr or H/G or whatever else it may be. Then again, you can just not post fics on portkey and post them wherever you currently are.
I used to accept challenges all the time, but I'm so terrible with keeping up to date with my own fics that I must resist.
