I SUPPORT HOUSE UNITY! Differences are FUN!!

First off when JKR doesn't even respect us and almost straight up insults us it doesn't really set an example for those who look up to her. I'm sure at one point we all had this huge respect for her and the world she created and some of us still do. But looking back over JKR's comments in the IoD she fully opened the door for others to slam us. Not to say we were well liked before, but people felt it was alright to finally let loose their animosity towards us.

As for the reason non-harmonians don't like us it could be multiple reasons. Different for everyone. Could be our we-are-above-you statements since I've made a fair few. I look back on them now and think of what an a*s I've been. Maybe it really is JKR's fault for not helping us out, but to stand us up only to knock us down again. Or it could be they were getting defensive to something that threatened their ship...I don't know. We did get alittle worked up over the IoD, but how could you not feel insulted? Some people took it over the top, but I won't apologize for getting upset and wanting to punch Emerson in the face. Though I promise you now that if I ever came across him I'd walk away mumbling to myself instead of hitting him. I'm only throwing out reasons, some that have already been made, and claiming none to be right or wrong.



Well I think Emerson, Melissa, and JKR kind of helped with that. There's the three biggest OBHWF shippers and one of them is the author of the series. We get publicly bashed by two of them and JKR does not one thing to remedy the situation. Oh she told them delusional isn't a word she'd use...she likes militant more, but we got no help. It was probably like 'hey those two can bash harmonians in front of JKR what's there to stop me.' Though that's my opinion and I'm not a non-harmonian who hates harmonians so that comment only holds so much weight.

OT: Boy that post is long didn't think I had that much to say at first.

Why, of course I am! The only reason why you come here is because you are intolerant and selfish.
There are many places where you can discuss shipping but your problem is that you simply cannot accept the fact that there are people who don`t like your ships. So you have to come here and try to "convert H/Hr shippers", try to make us "see the truth".

I`ve certainly far more respect for Emmerson than I have for you and your shipmates who come to Portkey.



To be honest, I disagree with AdamantEve almost as often as I disagree with R/Hr shippers. So this is nothing new really.

No unless you are calling every single shipper on this forum a "bad shipper".

And if people should have prejudices based on "bad shippers", then its a wonder that portkey always all these differnt shippers to join and discuss. Because trust me, Harmonians go through a lot of crap.

What annoys the hell out of me is when JKR made her witty,rhetorical question about did anyone really think H/Hr were suited for eachother? My question is "woman you wrote them in situations,surrounding them with all this symbolism and you wonder why some would come to the conclusion that they are suited for eachother?" If she already knew from the get go that her ending was OBHWF,there was no need to eliminate Ron from the group and H/Hr solve the cases without him. Otherwise it appears that they work better without him and it still holds true even in DH. I know it seems that she only appears to side with the OBHWF shippers,because they were able to ask her questions first.

At the time her defense was she couldn't give too much information away about the end of her story,yet Herons would say they saw R/Hr as the only way the story was going to end. She just assumed that any reader who starts reading the series,would only consider the OBHWF posibility and never see H/Hr as becoming a romantic couple. She could have completely abandoned the alchemy aspects of the story and kept it basic. However once you read the first book and discover the large amounts of alchemy,it's proven that it will be brought up as a recurring theme,not only in the plot but surrounding the characters as well. This could be delusional thinking here,but I don't see where the Herons gained much of an advantage over us like they think they have. DH was supposed to be her Christmas in July present to them,yet she didn't do the thing properly and show Hermione telling Ron that she loved him,nor Ginny telling Harry that she loved him. So the way I see it she gave them half a present,tf this was supposed to tie up once and for all who was in love with whom. No wonder the discussion is still going,because the ship debate is not an open and shut case.

I don't think anyone has to justify why they disagree/dislike/are disgusted by an author. Honestly, the culture of Love Thy Author didn't seem so prevalent until JKR rolled around. There's absolutely no need requirement to love her or hate her, and I wish fans would stop putting such a price on it.

I dont think its fair to call anyone sad either. I dont admit to liking it but if a person directly asks me I wont deny it. I do get strange looks from people when I do so thats the only reason why, in that it gets super irritating. And a lot of my friends laugh at me in a "Oh I forgot, you like HP you're such a silly girl" kind of way which is even more.

I agree. This thread has gotten out of use and out of control; wasn't this thread supposed to just answer why Harmonians seem to be so hated in fandom? Too many insults ruined that.
