I want to introduce myself here first...
I didn't care much about shipping when I first read the three early books of Harry Potter at 2002. But I liked this Hermione character and I felt alright if later on the series she would be intended by the author as Harry's love interest. Pairing her with Ron? Umm sorry... absolutely didn't see it...
When GoF came out, I liked the part about that Skeeter's article and the constant denial by Harry about he and Hermione as a couple. I felt it was cute and kind of showing the typical storyline "everybody but themselves sees it". I never discussed my view about shipping in Harry Potter with someone else because I'm SURE that everybody shares the same view with me... (which later proved wrong... so many MoRons outside...

)
After I read HBP I was very shocked with the fact that Harry (with some slight personality changes) suddenly have Ginny as his girlfriend and Ron and Hermione showing signs of loving each other

but at that time I had no accesses to internet and therefore had no knowledge of fandom, shipping wars, fanfictions, or wonderful persons like you, fellow Harmonians. So I think that the author had every right to write the character exactly as she wished, and it's not a big problem to me to accept R/Hr and H/G as main pairing

despite lack of chemistry between them. I also accepted that I was able to read Harry and Hermione's relationship as a very strong, but platonic, friendship. Until today. I can understand why many people told so. It's up to us to interpret the books.
At the beginning of year 2007 (six months before DH released) I started to browse fanfictions and get into the Harry Potter fandom. Here, I read many forums, fanfictions, etc that showed to me that not everyone was happy with JKR's version of romance and pairing, and also showed me that the unhappy readers have rights to speak about it. I remembered the time when I read Harry Potter before I got into fandom, and I remembered how I was 'attached' with possibility of Harry/Hermione pairing. When HBP came out, I dismissed H/Hr from my minds because its 'un-canon' status. But after I got into fandom, I realized that supporting an 'un-canon' pairing is not a sin, especially this ship, the ship that seems most 'realistic' compared to any other 'un-canon' ship.
At the first weeks of getting into fandom, I also read what you called 'IoD' and I found it very annoying. The interview itself, JKR (I felt she suddenly became bigheaded because of her popularity, or exactly, HARRY's popularity), and two MoRons who interviewed him (I really wanted to SPATZ on HIS face).

At that second, I decided that I identified myself as Harry/Hermione shipper.
As I visited many fandom sites, I also noticed that OBMDC shippers usually annoying and always trying to convert H/Hr shippers. In their real life, they intimidate their relatives so they don't ship H/Hr. Even at the non-debate forums, they still shows hostility towards US, and not towards other pairing including slash or else. They also frequently insult H/Hr as if we are disease and should be eradicated from world to make a peaceful, one big happy world... When it comes to debate, their ultimate weapon is 'OUR PAIRINGS ARE CANON'. They don't understand and seems not willing to understand that we support the pairing because canon status of the pairing, but because we prefer friendship over bickering. Canon or not, sail or not, I ship Harmony and will sail together or go down together with the ship.
On the other side, I found the Harmonians are quite rational in their arguments even though everyone else seems to treat them badly. Even the author seems to harbor a deep hatred toward us ('Riddle!Harmony and "She's like my sister" crapshit stuff...). I sympathized for it and I decided to ship Harmony, cause it's rational and not-so-delusional...
This is my first post on a Harry Potter forum, and I want to proclaim...
196th... I'M A HARMONIAN AND I'M PROUD.
