Here's another one, but I think I'm grasping for straws:
| QUOTE |
"Hi Harry," Said a voice behind him.He turned around and found Cho standing there. "Oh," said Harry as his stomach leapt uncomfortably, "Hi,"
"We'll be in the library, Harry," said Hermione firmly as she seized Ron above the elbow and dragged him off towards the marble staircase.
"So, have a good Christmas?" Said Cho. |
Occlumency Pg 466 Uk version
Well, what I got out of this scene was:
1. See how Hermione firmly says she'll be in the library?-She's either pushing Ron into going or to get Harry out of his trance/stomach learch obout Cho. I think the first one is more likley but oh well.
2.We already know this, but see how Cho starts the conversation first? She is starting to get a bit jealous here of Hermione before it really builds up at the end of the book. But Cho has obiously noticed that Hermione has been with Harry ALL THE TIME. Whenever she talks to him-except on his way to Occlumency (but that doesent count because Hermione wasnt allowed to come) she was there! Most people aren't stupid about love-except Harry and Hermione, notice each other dammit!
And after this sentance:
| QUOTE |
He virtually bounced off to the library to pick up Ron and Hermione before their afternoon lessons.
By six o'clock that evening,- |
It just cuts off, not mentioning Ron and Hermione asking what Cho wanted. Now Hermione already knows about the kiss, and we can be right to assume that Ron asked Harry about Cho, was hermione trying to block Harry and Cho out of her head? But she was listening to the date conversation because of the interview plans they made for Hogsmede. Hmm........sounds interesting doesn't it?
I think i'm grasping here but tell me what you think

I'm betting on the first one too because she snapped at Ron when he ruined Harry and Cho's first encounter. Also, that it a great observation Marshmallow, but I think that Hermione was just worried because she didn't want to be caught by Filch after hours. She also didn't seem to be bugged by the fact that Cho and Harry kissed. If she truely was jealous of Cho (and since Hermione doesn't care about her looks etc, why would she be?), then why would she have snapped at Ron for screwing up Harry and Cho's discussion by asking why she supported the Tornadoes? It just seems so unlikely that Hermione of all people would be jealous. It seemed to me that she was trying to encourage a Harry/Cho relationship. Just my opinion. Happy 100th Marshmallow!

Okay, now first off, Hermione does care about her looks. If she didn't, why would she go to all the trouble that the Yule Ball caused her? Which plays a big part of the Ron and Hermione fight in my opinion. It wouldn't have been that explosive an arguement if she hadn't dolled herself up so much, catching (and holding) Krum, Ron, and Harry's eye. Ron got jealous because of that. (No, I'm not jumping ships; I do believe that Ron has a thing for Hermione- it's been proven time and time again. I do not however see any evidence of her returning the feelings).
As to that, Hermione was being polite. Besides, that conversation was pretty early in the year, if I remember right, so Hermione probably didn't feel that threatened yet. And yes, she might have been trying to encourage it. I have too, when I felt that maybe I wasn't really in love with my best friend, and it would be healthy if we could both move on. Then I set him up, and it hurts so friggin' bad that I try to break it up. Yes, Hermione is not your typical teenage girl, but she is a girl nonetheless (something Ron was a bit delayed in noticing), meaning it is her perogative to change her mind.

Yes Hermione was definetly annoyed by Harry kissing Cho. She seemed to be a little too emotionless on the subject.... If she hadn't been somewhat aggitated, her response to hearing about Harry and Cho would be a little less tepid.

Actually she was very 'ticked' off about the H/C kiss. Maybe you should re-read that page again and see the change in her tone. And also there's a very well written

Well, Sure Hermione is jealous. Think on her relationship with Harry, at first anybody stand her because her brains and bossy actitude, everytime she try to make friends all backfired... then comes Harry and Ron (mostly Harry (all us know it)). They both come along very well ( very very well indeed

) They share a lot of things, both arrived at a new unknowed word from the muggle's without know antything (mm almost, Hermione had "Hogwarts:a History" already under her arms

), both share some fears and begins where the people reject them. Sametime they undestand each other and fit themselves as best friend of the one another. Their relationship grew close and close to be so dearest as we see it.
And suddenly Cho appear from under a rock and Harry follow her like a puppy, Hermione just feel like her first year returned to her, that Cho is steal whom is mor3e important to her... Simply, she don't want to lose him.
Is not a romance undergrown, necesaryly. I would be jealous too if a outsider comes and separate my best friend of my side.
Otherwise... I think that that is cute

'cause mean Hermione had strong strong feelings about Harry and is bounded to him. ( Althought it were strict on a friends way... There is a cool cute H/Hr moment

)

I'm hesitant to say that Ron and Harry discussed his upcoming date and that's how Hermione came up with her interview plan. That implies a certain amount of game playing on Hermione's part and I really don't think that she's doing that. It also makes a huge assumption for something that happened "offscreen" (think of the claim by some R/Hrs that Hermione kissed Ron on platform 9 3/4 as well)
I think its more likely that it was simply a coincidence that placed the interview happening on Valentine's day.
What I do think is significant is that JKR kept Ron tied up all day at Quidditch practice. And it would have been easy to hint at Hermione liking Ron even with him being absent. She could have bought him a box of fizzing whizzbies or chocolate frogs and mentioned with a blush that she bought them because he missed out on a Hogsmeade weekend.. . instead nothing.
We do get a sigh from her after saying that Harry was worse than Ron and then amending it to "no, you're not" IMO that means that she thinks that Ron is even more clueless about girls. I think the sigh means one of two things. . its possible it means both -- (1) Ron is not picking on her "I'm not interested in being anything more than a friend" hints and she's not looking forward to having that talk with him. OR (2) he's not picking up on Luna's "I really like you lots" hints.
Hermione dissects the Valentine Date catastrophe AND explains Cho's actions by saying that she was trying to make him jealous to see how much he fancied her (Cho) Harry completely misses the fact that Hermione had just thrown out her own bait with the "you should have told her you think I'm ugly" comment and recieved a postive response with "But I don't think you're ugly" (more positive than Cho's in point of fact)
HarHermlove4ever
Sep 2 2003, 03:03 PM
yeh..that another thing. Why?..did Hermione tell Harry, that she want Harry to know that she is uply..compare to Cho. I mean..if girl like guy...why is she put herself down..in front of guy that she like. or maybe she want Harry to compare..who is prettier. I mean..why do it have to be COMPARE. If Hermione is friend of Harry..she doesn't have to be compare. She doesn't care..if she uply or not..if she is friend of Harry. She just care about Harrys friendship..to her...that it...but she didn't.
The other thing, if Harry like Cho..he would be saying all the nice and sweet thing about her and do anything for her..but he didn't. He keep saying though the book..that he got crush on her..and she is pretty but that is it. He didn't risk is his life to kill 50 foot snake save her, he didn't worried about her when she was frozen in Hospital wing, he didn't hold her hand or hug her...when she is worried, scared, sad or happy. He didn't got sick to his stomach to think of her when she is lying in hospital. If you are boyfriend of Harry, you would be very mad..and dump him. He did all those thing...for Hermione...not Cho or another girl...that came before him. And I sure Hermione will do the same to Harry.
I hope I am making clear sense...
