That final scene, after the battle, could have been a great way for Rowling to make it H/Hr.

Now that you mention it, that was sure a good call. Minmei played that role of a girl who was seemingly perfect like Ginny. I guess we can say that Lisa is quite bossy in her own way as well.

About the end of the series, what a finish! As you say, a dilemma about "what's right or easy" and a choice made on what's the right thing ro do. JK should have written the ending into that fashion indeed, and it would have been interesting to see if Ginny could let Harry go - I guess it was asking too much for Weasley siblings to learn how to let it go.

This isn't an anime, but a classic cartoon I just watched with my 4 year old nephew, it's called 'The Lion King', you mite have heard of it, lol. but doesn't Simba/Nala remind you of h/hr? I mean best friends turned into lovers. I mean they are just like h/hr, especially that arguing scene in the forest, where Nala isn't afraid to stand up to Simba when he doesn't want to accept the responsibility of becoming king.

In FMA, I sure kinda like more the interactions between Ed and Winry since they are a really great match. But now that you bring Roy/Riza on the table, we sure can talk of total devotion for the other. Well, generally speaking of animes... I'd have to say that in general, the anime Zero no Tsukaima just screams Harry Potter to me, even though the main relationship (Louise and Saito) aren't very much like Harry and Hermione in their interactions.

But since this said relationships, my choice would have to heavily be on Senel Coolidge and Chloe Valens from Tales of Legendia. Senel is the main hero who's searching for his sister, and Chloe is one of the girls who joins him on his quest because of her high sense of justice. However, as the quest progresses, the two become close friends

I've just started watching that series but I do see a bit of an H/Hr connection. After GOF Harry starts lashing out at everyone, including Hermione, similar to the way Kyo does. But Hermione/Tohru is still willing to stick with him.

Honestly I think Yuki/Tohru is more like h/hr. While not an offical couple, that pairing does have a fanbase. But Kyo/Tohru does have some similaries to h/hr. But I honestly don't see any similarities between K/T and R/L.

All the things a guy could want back then.

But by vol 4 Dai came to his senses and realized that he valued his friendship with Riku more than his hopeless crush on Risa. Only problem from really relating this couple to H/Hr is that the series isn't over. They have the H/Hr set up just need the finishing kicker.

*Arima needs Yukino. Just as Harry needs Hermione. Without her he would feel apart. They both need the girls to listen to them in their many times of need. In vol 6 or something Arima is upset that he has to leave for the summer but hides it, so Yukino pulls him into a hug and her touch comforts him. It reminds me of the time in DH when Hermione touch Harry's forehead and he closed his eyes at her touch. The same comfort came to the boys.

*Cain is very determined follow through in his ambitions. But he also hides his deeper emotions. Other than acting like OotP Harry throughout the series and having black hair AND green eyes their really nothing alike.

*Cain and Riff have known each other since they were young(er). Cain lost both his parents, his father's crazy! But Riff was there to help him. Even when Cain flirts with other girls Riff isn't jealous. There's no need for jealously. They have a bond deeper than anybody else can hope of reaching. Just like Hermione didn't need to be jealous of Cho or Ginny they could never reach the level of love and understanding her and Harry share. Plus both couples are always hugging or grabbing each other's arms and such.

Haruhi's eccentricities are put up by Kyon similar to Harry putting up with Hermione' antics as well. S.P.E.W. is somehow similar to the S.O.S. Brigade. Harry is embarased a bit similar to Kyon but for some reason supports her. Proabably the biggest similarity is the trust, even Itsuki, another character in the show, recognized the strong bond of trust between Haruhi/Kyon. So I do hope you have seen my point. Tai and Sora! YAY Taiora!!! I think that these two totally remind me of H/Hr cause they are a great team. They always looked towards each other. They have the same athletic skills and abilities...so they can keep up with one another and challenge each other. But then at the same time Tai can be a dope and rush into things with out thinking and Sora is there to keep an eye on things and when Tai isn't sure, Sora is the one he looks to for reassurance, or knows that if he fails he can count on her. Hence the reason why he trusts her with important things like taking care of his sister...or going to find help while he stays to fight.

They do fight but Tai and Sora both like to make up after....Tai feels bad about making her upset...and when she's upset he'll want to make her feel better.

I agree that a lot of Anime go with the "I'm going to fight with you cause I can't admit that I love you" mold...like my favorite Sosuke/Chidori...but at the same time those types of characters in my eyes where always presented as being kind of on equal terms...and were able to dish it out as well as take it from each other and still you at all times you knew that they trusted each other totally and worked well with each other and could work off one another cause they were on the same level, where as Ron would mostly be at a lost as to were Hermione was, and how she thought and reacted in situations didn't actually think that were dumb....with R/Hr JKR didn't really convince me that they were level from the beginning so when they fought to me it always seems different. Like I know what she was trying to do....but if you ask me she didn't do such a hot job...and she could have learned a thing or two had she watched more Anime....lol...I love the "fighting couple" mold...I think it can be fun to watch and read....if its done right...and if I see the respect and faith that the characters have for each other, like with Ichgo and Rukia, or Sosuke and Chidori for example.

Though I do think that Naruto and Sakura are getting less like Ron and Hermione as the series progresses cause Sakura starts to understand Naruto more and starts to really see how strong he is and how Hard he tries....I think that's what JKR was trying to do with R/Hr but if fell short if you ask me...and was always coming off as patronizing...much like the way all the Weasleys ended up in my mind....but that might be just me...LOL....but anyway...

Naruto and Sakura... you can tell that Sakura does enjoy her time with Naruto and they work great together later in the series once Sakura gets off her butt and realizes that she needs to start kick'n butt too. I don't know how many here have seen or read any of the Shippuden volumes yet.... but the two of them are much closer then ever and they work better as a team each is very strong and bring different skills to the table which is why for me they are getting closed to H/Hr like, and it's not just Naruto worrying and looking out for Sakura, and Sakura just looking out for Sasuke. Sakura is just as concerned and worried and tries hard to be better for Naruto as well. And maybe even more cause she's willing to stand up and fight Sasuke for Naruto if need be... which is were I'll stop talking about it lol...cause like I said not everyone has seen or read those volumes yet.

LOL...I don't really talk much shipping wise though with Naruto fans really...so I wouldn't know what they are like or what the shows shipping demographics are...lol...but I judging by all the Sasuke Fanboys and girls there are I can guess that the Naruto/Sakura ship might be the smaller...lol

I just thinking of Tenchi and Ryoko. Personality wise Ryoko is more like Harry and Tenchi is more like Hermione. Ryoko loves adventure and mischief while Tenchi focuses more on school or atleasts he wants to but so many things get in the way. He seems to only rise to the challege when completely necessary.

I would have to say that's a definite no. While I'm a HUGE Usagi/Mamoru shipper (even more so than Harry/Hermione), and have been a Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon fan for almost twelve years now, I'd have to disagree. The relationship between Usagi and Mamoru is incredibly different from Harry and Hermione's. There are many reasons that I want to go into, but I can't, seeing as it's well after two am and I need to get to sleep. The main difference is the basis of their romance: Harry and Hermione are (or rather would be) best friends turned lovers. They would know everything about each other before they would form a romance. Usagi and Mamoru are acquaintances who argue, realize they actually like one another, date, and learn about one another through their relationship. It's like comparing Harry and Sally to Joe and Kathleen (for anybody who didn't get that reference, I'm talking about the couples from When Harry Met Sally and You've Got Mail), only subtract the getting to know one another from Joe/Kathleen, and you have Mamoru/Usagi.

There's especially even LESS similarities if you go by the anime rather than the manga. In the anime, aside from a couple of stares, Usagi and Mamoru

never think about one another romantically until they're trapped in the elevator together. After that, it's sort of like a "love at first sight" type of thing (well, you know, more of a "love at three months later," but you know what I'm saying). They realize that there's so much more to one another, and that they may just like each other. Their romantic relationship kind of just...happens. There's no build up, like with H/Hr. Furthermore, Usagi sort of idolizes Mamoru...so if anything, as much as I hate to say this, it's a bit like H/G (god...I just compared H/G to my beloved U/M...*shivers*).

old enough to be her great-grandfather , Abel is an immortal Crusnik (A vampire who feed on other vampires) and Esther is a nun from the Vatican. Esther loves both sides of him.

She always concerned for him, can stand her ground to defend herself against him (OotP with Harry/Hermione fight? ), and she never can reveal her feelings because of what she thinks he doesn't feel for her.

Even though in the anime, you were never told that Esther had feelings for him. You just knew she did, it was obvious in every episode, including when Abel died in one of the final episodes. She stayed at his grave, grieving over him.

They were best friends throughout the whole entire series, Abel always saved Esther from danger (Harry anyone?) and Esther was always strong in front of him, right or wrong.

But there was one scene when it sealed the Harry/Hermione deal with me. It was in episode 3, Star of Sorrow Part 1.

Esther was being taken to jail for murdering Radcon, a police officer and Abel wouldn't let her go. He told the police that if he was taking Esther that they take him as well.

Abel was handcuffed and was brought over by Esther and she asked:

Esther: Why? Why father? (Abel is a priest)

Abel gets this so tender look on his face before saying:

Abel: You have to ask...really? Well, its because I am your friend.

And from that moment on, Esther and Abel were never seen without the other, except when Abel had to go on missions for the Vatican.

But it was too late when Abel realized that he loved Esther. When he was killed by his brother in the final episodes, he looked like he was going to say I love you to Esther, but he died...

And second off I have to agree with Hermione_Crookshanks with the Mamoru/Usagi thing. They might give off the impression of H/Hr later but in the beginning it is sort of like H/G, as Hermione_Crookshanks said >_< yuck. But if any pairing from Sailor Moon is close to H/Hr for me it would have to be Haruka/Michiru (disregarding the fact that they're both female) But with the more... adult mood as Usagi puts it xD

Really though I see Haruka/Michiru as a better reminder of H/Hr for me,

Haruka = Harry
Michiru = Hermione

Sailor Moon reminds me of HHr as well. But I'm talking about Usagi/Seiya. I shipped Usagi/Mamoru at first, but when Seiya appeared in the series I started to ship Usagi/Seiya. I find the similarities in the fact that they were also very good friends, supported each other, fought side by side, but didn't end up together.

Sorry for all Usagi/Mamoru shippers out there... Don't Avada Kedavra me...

Usagi/Mamoru don't strike me as very H/Hr. They started their relationship fighting all the time...

There aren't much couples in anime that remind me of H/Hr but some are:

Kenshin/Kaoru from "Rurouni Kenshin" ---> She loves him for who he is, and is the only one who helps him carry the big weight on his shoulders.

Ichigo/Rukia from "Bleach" ---> A great team, a strong friendship.

Kazuki/Tokiko from "Busou Renkin" ---> Another great team. He's willing to sacrifice his life for her, and she believes in him and is willing to turn her back to everything to support him.

Sakura/Syaoran from "Card Captor Sakura" ---> They had a rocky start (H/Hr did too), but learnt to appreciate the other's talents and help until they became great friends and partners.

Rick/Lisa from "Robotech" --> A very H/Hr relationship, even in their role types.

I don't know much about Sailor Moon and Busou Renkin, however I can say for sure the other examples are very good ones.

Kaoru is the best to understand Kenshin for who he is, she supports him even in the toughest times. Kaoru's sense of faith for Kenshin is a very good match for Hermione's faith in Harry.

Ichigo/Rukia and Sakura/Syaoran... A rocky start changing for the best afterwards in both cases. Both pairings are great in my book mainly because of how they manage to appreciate the other's talents, then help each other and slowly (but surely) heading towards more than friendship when you'd never expect that at the beginning.

I just wish JKR put that same dilemma for Harry because I'm sure he would have chosen the "right" option (Hermione) instead of the "easy" option (Ginny) if he was given the choice.

The real comparison is the denial of flirting. In HBP there was a scene where Harry and Hermione are flirting and then Ron enters the room they say nothing is going on. This was mentioned in some other thread, I don't have the exact quote or anything right now. Anyway, around the time Shana first realized her feelings for Yugi, she would keep denying it and Yugi would do the same but there was obviously something going on between them as all their friends noticed.

I agree with you harryloveshermione1999 100%! I've never really seen them as very H/Hr but now I really think about it they really are how awesome is that <3

Ouran is my favorite anime ever, and even though my heart belongs to another ship (Tamaki/Haruhi) in that universe I do like the idea of a Kyoya&Haruhi being together. Even in the commentary on the english dub they talk about Kyoya and Haruhi being kindred spirits. Haruhi brings out Kyoya in way that no one else and does and i love it!

The "I'm going to fight with you because I can't say I love you" is typically named the tsundere character in anime's, these are the characters that get flustered when embarresed and start by beating up the main character, enough anime's around that I don't need to name any. But i'll give you one: Louise from Zero no Tsukaima, if you look up her Seiyuu you will see a lot of these roles(Rie Kugimiya )

Back to ZnT, there isen't really a character that fits Harry or Hermione in there although Saito does portray Harry-esque (is that a word, now it is!) qualities. Giving up his chance to go home just to save Louise and others? Drugging Louise to go fight against an army by himself? Nah that ain't Harry right?

Someone who channels Hermione is Henrietta (Mind you i'm kinda shipping Saito/Henrietta) Henrietta becomes the queen and must do what is right rather then what is easy, she is a strong leader but still has insecurieties about herself, as does Hermione IMO, in season 3 she prohibited Saito from leaving with an Order as queen, she did not want to see him or her friends get hurt and would rather be hurt herself.

In general the ZnT universe has many similarities to Harry Potter, Tristian(or Tristein, dunno) is generaly in the rough place of Belgium(woot us) and Albion is England, then there is The roma empire, Italy anyone? France and Germany are also there, so its just Europe a bit redrawn.

Wands and magic are for the noble, meaning those of a pureblood...

And the headmaster, come on it's dumbledore in anime shape, even though this one is a bit more perverted.

Only thing I wished was that the Void element could be integrated into the Harry Potter universe, where it is typically the Shadow element.

Romeo and Juliet from the Romeo x Juliet anime (pic). I have actually never seen an episode in my life, but there was a picture of them in an ad on deviantart and they really reminded me of an H/Hr in anime form.
