i was just looking for icons and a r/hr icon stated "we do believe in trees".
can anyone tell me whats their idea with trees have to do with the heron couple.
i think i remember JK saying something about forests and trees but i dont see how that supports their ship.
thanks in advance
if this topic doesnt belong in this thread sorry (i didnt know where else to put it)

I pretty glad someone asked the question. I've been wondering, too, and it's been confusing me.
They believe in trees? Well that's... an interesting allusion to their ship. I think. But I suppose it's about as clever as our pumpkin. Lol.

If they believe in trees, I find it interesting that Hagrid's hut was full of bowtruckles which burned to death at the end of HBP.

The term "we believe in trees" is RHR's "slogan". It just means that RHR is as obvious as trees, just like Roonilz_Wazlib said. They think that Ron and Hermione's relationship is as obvious as trees.

I never understood it.
Its actually more this. There's a saying "Cant see the forest for the trees"
It means that someone looks so hard at details (individual trees) that they cant see the big picture (forest)
To me that slogan doesnt make sense. If anything it should be Harmony who "believes in trees" since we are the ones who tend to peek close at the canon and look past the anvils. ie we study the trees.
So go figure why thats their slogan, because it doesnt make a bit of sense.
I've never actually researched it, because I cant keep my gorge down long enough to look. So I could be wrong, but with the well known saying of "cant see the forest for the trees" its really, really stupid for them to use it as its meaning is already cemented, and it doesnt fit their ship at all. Another example of the general stupidity of that ship.

But then, that begs the inevitable question:
Do the trees believe in them?

Yes I know alot of rhr fans who use that phase. I find it alittle stupid really. I made this up which my sister always uses in her signtures.

I love the "We believe in trees" Slogan and I think it fits their ship perfectly. Personally I think they really can't see the forest for the trees. Harmony shippers see the forrest because they see how each "tree" adds up to something larger. Plus I have a response it in my sig.
They believe in trees, good on em. I believe in LOVE.

Well... I don't know about
that...
Are trees that stupid?

Lol.
I think the more inevitable question is: Do the trees get royalties for this blatant use of their good name?

They don't use "Can't see the forest for the trees" as part of their slogan. R/Hr shippers are also known as ENTS....you know, like those gigantic tree-beings in Lord of the Rings. In other words, R/Hr is so big and obvious you can't possible miss it. You know, like all those ANVILS we've been dodging
Well, they can believe in trees. We'll believe in chainsaws.

The R/Hr ship isn't stupid, they can believe whatever the want. Personally, I think they can have their trees, do we even want them? Of course not.
Plus, we do have our chainsaws.

well thay can have their trees, trees are found everywhere, are plain and simple, boring and dull, but harmony is so much better and if they don't believe us........well we'll always have our chainsaws!!

And the "can't see the forest for the trees" has an allusion to Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. After all, all of the characters in that play suffered from the condition.
However, seriously, I must admit that I prefer a wood or forest to a small grove of trees. I don't like chainsaws. I do it the old boyscout way, give me an axe and a hatchet any day over a chainsaw. I prefer to slowly knick at the trees, until they fall on their own accord. It's actually much more enjoyable than a quick killing, and you make sure you get all the good points as well. Oh and by the way, to make sure I'm safe, I always make sure that I have my totin' chip up to date.
Trees

(I'll just pretend that's an axe...)

I think that "We believe in Trees" is a reference to a supposedly canon basis for their ship growing out of Gof.
The canon is written on paper
+
They believe the canon
+
Paper comes from trees
+
Therefore, they believe in trees
Q.E.D.
I can't help but notice that this sort of convoluted logic is exactly the type of thing I would expect...
In any case, I'm not a very big fan of the canon, so, to hell with trees, I believe in love.

It was also obvious that Snape was after the Philosopher's Stone and that Sirius Black was a murderer... If they believe in Ron/Hermione because it's obvious, I think that it's good for us...

Thats how I always thought it was used; not from ents in LOTR. But I may be wrong. Either way, as you put it: It makes no sense. But hey, R/H shippers usually dont (for me anyway).
belief = cannon
cannon = paper
paper = trees
Therefore:
belief = trees
Q.E.D.
Well, im not sure if 'a' is equal to/comes from 'c' here... belief _?_ trees.
Yeah.... uh... Belief comes from trees yall, not from your heart and mind! Gosh! Just another stupid harmonian i guess...

So this thought came to me yesterday radnomly while reading the ship slogans thread. This is sort of a jump because I don't know when the term was created, but do you think that RHR was called I Believe in Trees, because after the IOD and HBP they thought for sure that their ship would happen? Because after all, trees make paper, and paper is what the book is made out of. Thoughts on this?
Hope you forgive me for going way off topic.

I saw the "I believe in trees" slogan around the time that OotP came out. I can't remember the exact explanation behind it, but I do know that it didn't have to do with the making of paper, or the printing of books.

It didn't. "I believe in trees" was derived from the saying "Can't see the forest for the trees", which is symbolic for a person who ignores the obvious by examining unimportant details - like ignoring the presence of a forest while examining each individual tree.
At least, that's how it was explained to me when I asked.
