Imagine that Voldemort had asked Lucius to give the diary to Ginny specifically, because he knew that at age sixteen, he would really fancy Ginny and want to use her for his plan. ANd imagine he sort of fell for her in the process...
What if Tom could come back, as he was at age sixteen? Now that would be interesting. My entire scenario depends on Ginny being in a certain frame of mind, a not exactly certain, emotionally unstable. I also think that someone in this forum brought up the idea that maybe something was left with Ginny, just as something was left with Harry. Potter gets the unnatural powers and Ginny is left with something a little less desirable- a part of Tom. What if Tom can keep coming back in her mind, able to give small suggestions here and there.
Okay EvilRyokoJesse, say she never hates or loves the DT, she is neutral about them. She's much more drawn to Draco, he's like her. The CoS makes people wary around her, but Draco understands this. One day in the library, Draco notices her. She's sitting in his usual chair. Imagine the out rage. it HIS chair, not the weasel's. But for some reason he seems drawn to her in a strange way. He tells her to get off his chair or else he'll sit on her. She says go ahead and do it. So he does. She asks if he's comfortable.
In the mean time, he's not looking at her eyes, but rather at her lips. he'd been noticing these a lot more lately. So he says no, not yet, reaches up and decides to kiss her. He expects her to push him away, spit a few times for good measure, but none of that happens. she's as in to it as he is.
and they're together. But sometime later, they've been together for a while, and Tom comes back into her head, telling her things. She's not insane. its actually Tom, who was not, in fact, killed with the diary. Now he finds a means to return, disgusted with what he becomes in the future. What if somehow he materializes through Ginny? Ginny's not 'in love' with Tom, perse, but she is a part of him, just as he is a part of her. My question to you all is what would Draco do? I was just thinking about that. I get off topic alot.
QUOTE
I would never want Ginny to go evil in canon. Rather, I would like to see Draco hate her so much that he pays as much attention to her as he does Harry and then have Draco fall for her, making him rethink his loyalties.
That would be interesting... would he go all out for his love or his hatred? i guess its a classic war between good and evil, love and hatered. But you brought up some good points Jesse. When i said Ron was being an ***hole, i mean like an older brother. Even though they shouldn't, the act like them sometimes. But this is becoming an epic.
I think G/T would work if somehow Ginny ended up dead. Tom, the way she remembers him, is dead, so if she is dead, maybe she can somehow join him????

I'd thought about that too! People in another topic (or was it this one? I'm getting confused...) were talking about how if D or G died they would keep shipping D/G and how fanfiction would make them possible anyways. But thinking about Tom makes that more complex. If G or D die after Voldmort, then maybe Ginny will see Tom again in death......but that would mean the land of the dead theory or something like in the Holy Trilogy would have to happen. *shrugs* I dont know, I'm so intent on D/G that I wouldnt want to share her between Tom and Draco, but the love triangle as you mentioned sounds nifty.

Ah!! I hate school! I go away for six hours and look what happens! But anyway...
Unknown Street Kid, I love the way you think. It makes perfect sense, and the reality of it is that it if Ginny does turn evil and ends up with Draco, I think it would happen like that...
Ryoko and Sakura - As you can see by my new avatar- recently for the last few weeks, I've been thinking so much about Tom Riddle. I've always been fascinated by complex characters, and Tom is so intriguing. I'm even writing a story about him, because I've just been wondering so much.... Anyway, off-topic, back to it.
I think if I didn't ship Draco and Ginny, I would definitely ship Ginny and Tom- I almost already do. (The love triangle thing sounds like a really good story, by the way.)

You bring up a good point here, Jesse. Here, i'm going to steer away from all ships right now and its going to get angsty. Think about this. Ginny does not turn evil. But Tom doesn't care. he isn't set out to make her evil.
What does Voldemort do? He destroys. The only difference between Voldemort and Riddle is a few years. What if the entire purpose of the diary was to give something to Ginny that would eventually destroy her? I think that it has been stated more than enough that Rowling hasn't spent any time with Ginny. This has led us all to believe that Harry will be the ONLY ONE that will defeat Voldemort, right?
But what if its Ginny who is truly the one that can destroy Voldemort, and to throw this attack off, he gets Lucius to give the diary to the girl. Maybe there was another prophecy in the department of mysteries that voldemort did get his hands on, this one involving the weasley girl?
Wouldn't it be cool if the only way for Ginny to stop Tom would lie in Draco Malfoy?
hmm.... yeah. i think i may write a fic in which this happens. oh welsies.
Hey, can anyone give me a hand with this? i noticed below some of your avatars you have sayings or little phrases. can anyone let me know how to get that on mine?

I have dubbed this my favorite thread. It is so much fun to check, and I know what you mean, InTheStars, I went away for school too and had to catch up!
QUOTE

|
That completely summed up what I have been thinking about. I suddenly want to read more and more fics with D/G/T love triangles, and [as i have mentioned a few times before] am writing one myself. Go check it out! [Our Little Secret- on FFN]
I never though I would ship either Draco or Ginny with someone else but the appeal of Ginny/Tom is racking at my brain. But I think I hold firm to the idea that Ginny will be brought over to the dark side through Tom, but evetually fall for Draco. Because I can not imagine Ginny living that long if she is paired with Tom... and I don't want her dying any time soon.
But if Tom Riddle was able to come back as his sixteen year old self in the flesh, and join up with Ginny...and she could maybe convince him that what he turns into someday is a hideous monster... maybe she could convinve him to stop himself before it happens.
I just got a great idea. Say Ginny was romantically involved with Tom, and doing everything in her power to make him stop his future self.... as a sixteen year old he doesn't know how to do that and ends up commiting suicide, even though it seems way OOC with enough persuasion and a good author writing the fic it could happen.
Ginny is upset and seeks comfort in Draco? Voldemort still exsists, even though they thought that would kill him, but at least Tom is out of the way. There...wonderful love triangle and Ginny never really had to go evil... plus is ends up D/G so I dont have to feel bad about shipping G/T.
Any thoughts on my new theory?
The Unknown Street Kid
Sep 3 2003, 02:36 PM
Sakura1287 , i think that could work. have you read Draco Dormeins or Draco Veritas by Cassandra Claire? well, in one of them, Ginny is given a time-turner and she uses it to go back in time and secure an army to defeat voldemort. so maybe that could happen?
that fic could really turn out well
Sakura1287
Sep 3 2003, 02:42 PM
Yeah, I have read those and I know what you are talking about, but I don't think she would go back in time to get an army....hehe.
Ginny could go back in time and bring Young!Tom to her time...and thus my whole theory could easily take place. Well maybe not easily, but it could happen.

I don't mind her turning evil. What I hate is when Draco turns into Harry Potter the Second, holy saint and nicest person on Earth. And I don't really like Ginny being very, very mean, and ready to do anything for Voldemort, even if he orders her to kill Draco.

I started reading this and had to join and post. Here are my thoughts on the matter evem though I found things have been going a bit off topic.
It's been said quite a bit already, and I agree with this point first. CoS was pretty much forgotton. Why do that? I'm not a wonderful author myself, but I don't think JKR would right an entire book and then have all the characters forget that the events happened. Well, maybe not forget, but just pretend it didn't happen. It was a major event, more so beacuse nearly 'killed'. Now if something like that happened to me, sure I would try and put it behind me, but then they seem to drop Ginny. She becomes unimportant, no one cares.
QUOTE
The fact that Ginny was possessed and not moving of her own accord is what makes me believe she won't become evil. Seeing the things she was doing, experiencing pure evil - I mean she was eleven years old! I'm pretty sure an eleven year old would not do these things simply because Tom Riddle was their only "friend".
This was also mentioned. I am slightly torn on this. I see what you mean. I don't think she would do all those acts of her own accord, but perhaps some of them. The fact that she was eleven and Tom was her only friend is part of why I believe this. She was young and easily influenced by someone older. I see no reason why she wouldn't do as Tom asked. As children when our parents tell us something to do something we do as they say (most of the time -.-; )without questioning their reasons. Perhaps she did a few of the things on her own and after a while she got scared that she would get in trouble or expelled and began to refuse, and that's when Tom began possessing her.
Yes, well off of that for a moment. Back to my little predictions/ramblings. My apologies if any of these have been brought up already.
One thing that caught my eye was the comments where Tom left something with Ginny, but if he had why didn't he use her when in the Department of Mysteries?
I think it could be true that he had left something with her that doesn't harm or affect her at all...yet. She doesn't even know it's there, and Voldemort is just waiting, biding his time. He wouldn't use her in the Department of Mysteries because she would be a last resort possibly. Maybe in the last book during the final battle Voldemort's chances of winning are slim to none, and so he decides it's time. Perhaps Tom placed a little of himself in her, and so she has been acting as his new 'diary' for the past few years. Voldemort then uses this to possess her once more, and I doubt Harry would attack Ginny, so Voldemort uses her against him.
My second thought on how she would willingly go to Voldemort.
Someone in her family is killed, maybe the mother, and not only that but it was Harry's fault. Maybe a death eater attacks and sends the killing curse at Harry, but he moves and it hits Mrs. Weasley, or she moves to save him. Something. Then he sort of comforts her, but then drops her again like every one seemed to do in CoS and this pushes her towards the edge. Then everyone starts comforting Harry because he is so grief stricken, or angry with himself because he didn't stop it and no one sees how hurt Ginny is despite obvious hints. Now while all this happens, the death eater has informed Voldey of his actions and has been watching the family and also tells him about Ginny. Voldemort uses this to his advantage and begins to plant thought in her mind that he is the only one who really cares about her, and that he promises things like she will never get hurt again, and that she can have what ever she wants...Things like that. So she fights at first, but because her family is still not paying attention to her in her mind, she gives in a joins him.
Last one.
Someone also posted that is Tom had done or left something with her Dumbledore would have seen it and done something. Also that Dumbledore isn't just worried about Harry but all the students.
I don't believe this. Dumbledore may be a wise old man, and he may care about all the students, but that doesn't mean he'd see that something was wrong with her. After everyone is sure she is fine they leave her alone. I can imagine her being one of those girls you see at school that is only noticed by a few friends and then forgotton by everyone else. Sure Dumbledore probably put thought into the matter, and maybe even watched her for a while, but when she seemed fine he decided it was okay and he focused back on Harry again.
That's all for my ramblings. I apologize if they made no sense, but I had to post. I apologize for wasting your time.

Well I don't see Ginny becoming Evil per se.
The way I see it is that her experience in the chamber of Secrets and the exposure to Tom has let her see the Darker Side of Humanity, By being posessed by Tom she would have had access to his memories, to observe how he thought, what he valued and so forth. This would allow her to see Tom's logic as and therefore the logic that most deatheaters are indoctrinated with. She would be able to see both sides of the conflict much better than Ron Hermionie or Harry. (granted that Harry has faced Voldemort but he only sees him in the sense of good and evil. He would not have had Ginny's access or her desire to know Tom.
People may argue that she is 11 and such an experience would be unlikely to taint someone so young. I think that posession and almost dying is something that will stay with a person- regardless of their age.
However I agree that this aspect has not been touched in the following books -it seems like everyone is tryying to forget what happened in COS -including the author. I feel that that is a pity as it opens up an interesting angle- but then again this Series is Harry Potter not Ginny Weasley, so looking for insights into her character would be i unlikely.
Just my 2 cents

I am convinced that Tom Riddle and Voldemort, at this point, are two very different people. We don't even know if Voldemort was aware that he came back as his 16 year old self and opened the chamber...
In any case, Voldemort would not know the signifigance of Ginny unless Tom Riddle was to come back again. This is where time travel gets tricky. We don't know if Voldemort would remember going forward in time when he was 16 and opening the chamber, because at that time in his life he didn't know all the things that Tom Riddle knew. By preserving himself in the diary, he has almost formed himself as a new person...
In order to use Ginny again, that new preserved Tom Riddle would have to come back, and as it stands he's gone... lost in the destroted diary.
Make sense?
Basically I'm saying unless he can come back some way, that preserved form of Tom Riddle, Ginny should be safe.

Duuuuude, I see what you're saying Sakura. I'm a such a silly goose for not realizing that earlier! However, I wonder when and if Voldemort found out about the posession of Ginny, if he wanted to dabble further into that. However, only time will tell about that. But it reeeeealy irks me how we no nothing about Ginny's recovery. You'd think Ron would tell Harry and then we'd know!

Gah! The of the main reasons it gets to me is, there is good possiblity the possession will have great signifigance later on in the books. And JK is so good at throwing us for a loop, I wonder how she is going to tie it in, if she decides to at all. She is just full of surprises, I wonder what she is going to do with our Ginny?

Firstly, I love your signature Sassychic, lol.

it's so funny! Is the fic H/Hr or R/Hr?
Secondly, I
really wish JK was reading this right now. I mean, come on, wouldn't it be amazing if, in the 6th book, Tom
does return as his sixteen-year-old self? He may even side with Harry against what he has become, though Tom is not good, per se, he may enjoy being human, and want to keep his future self from existing and being a representation of himself so vilely. If what you say is true in the books, Sakura, then anything can happen. I can defintely see Ginny playing a much bigger role if Tom comes back, because she'll really be the only person who knwo anything about him. Harry only fought him as Voldemort, not as a preserved form of a 6th yearat Hogwarts.
Another thing is that Tom/Voldemort may not be kindhearted and nice, but he sure is/was brilliant. As Mr. Ollivander said at the wand shop when Harry first went there, he was terrible, but
great. Tom could have brought himself back, planning to help Voldermort even further. Though he is only a memory and was preserved in the diary, he proved by possessing Ginny that he could be inside a person too. That he could exist inside a human body. So if he could be preserved in a notebook, I dont see why there isn't a possibility of Tom still being within Ginny today, hiding at the back of her mind.
Ginny may not have had to be scarred.
She could still be living the nightmare.

Mod Note: Split post from Inane Theories thread, moved Evil!Ginny thread from Archive and merged posts with thread. --InTheStars/Crystal, 20June2005*cough* Um, well, I don't know if anyone has said this (maybe the first part, but I don't think the second). Has anyone ever thought that maybe Ginny was put in the wrong house? Could she really be a Slytherin? Some people say they could picture her as such. (In the movie) We know that the Sorting Hat yelled (when Ron was being sorted) "Ah! Another Weasley! I know exactly what to do with you...GRYFFINDOR!" Or something to that effect. Could the Sorting Hat have done the same with Ginny? We don't know, because Harry and Ron missed the Sorting their second year. If she really belongs in Slytherin, then she would most likely be interacting more with Draco than she does.
Or...Could there already be something there that hasn't been spoken/written? Could they be secretly meeting? They don't actually have to talk about it or say anything to the trio about it. Maybe there is already something going on in secret. Who knows? We certainly won't unless JKR has decided to write it like that.
Has anyone thought about this?

I don't understand why its so hard for people to accept and Evil!Ginny; to me, its so obvious.
It is my opinion that at least one of the Weasleys will go to the Dark Side. Right now, the popular opinion is Percy, which I also agree with. But I think Ginny is also a likely candidate, but for two completely opposite reasons.
Percy is (for all you Star Wars fans out there) Anakin Skywalker. He is a happy family, people who love him, and everything going for him; but the one thing he desires above all things is just out of his reach; power. If Percy is lured in and tempted with power, fortune, and importance, I think he would bend to the bait, especially since he's often been labeled as a bit of the black sheep of the family (not entirely, but the Weasleys, as a whole, seem rather laid back, while he is wound up tighter than a clock). If offered the right amount of power, Percy would be no match to resist it.
But Ginny has an entirely different motive. She's just so...weak. Ginny reminds me of that girl who still acts 13 even when she's 27. She's naive, trusting, and has little will power. I'm not blaming an 11 year old for the CoS incident, but I do indeed believe that was some foreshadowing. Not foreshadowing of evil, but of supreme weakness. She was lured with flattery and attention, and she broke down. I believe this weakness carries on throughout your life, no matter what your age.
However, I don't believe we will see Evil!Ginny, nor Draco/Ginny in canon, unless there is an epilogue of some sort. They seem very post-canon to me. Especially since Ginny will only be a sixth year when the book ends; a bit young to join the Death Eaters.
And, speaking of Draco/Ginny, the only way I see this couple happening is if Ginny goes evil. Unfortunatly, I fear that the canon is going to go the cheesy way and have Draco turn good at the last minute and save Harry somehow; but I truly hope not, its painfully unrealistic. The fact is, Draco has shown zero desire, motive, reasoning, consideration, or even pondering the idea of leaving the dark side. And I don't care if we barely see Draco and see everything through Harry's eyes; that boy is as much of a clone of his father as he could possibly be.
Isn't is possible (you better sit down now, fandom) that Draco is just what he's made out to be...a negative character? Is it possible that he's never going good, and he's going to be the next Lord Malfoy? I hate to insult fandom (because I love you all obscenely, truly I do), but what is this obsession we have to make ever evil/cruel/dark character into a sad, misunderstood, neglected little boy? Maybe...he's just dark.
Alright, I know I've made a bazillion enemies, but believe me when I say this, just because I despise good!Draco, doesn't mean I don't ship Draco/Ginny. Quite the contrary, I think dark!Draco and dark!Ginny is the most likely situation possibly, and I absolutely love Draco with Ginny, no one could be better, its all very Romeo and Juliet, and I love it.

I had a thought, I really believe that Ginny/Draco will work out. But I think she is going to go evil and join draco. Just think it is the perfect betrayel Harry's best friends sister. The yougest of a family devoted to the light side. Please tell me what you think?
hhmmmmm... i see why you think that but i personally think that just mabye (fingers crossed!!) that he might actually turn good (how kool would that be !!)
but if not then ginny would be great turning evil!!!!!

But Ginny has an entirely different motive. She's just so...weak. Ginny reminds me of that girl who still acts 13 even when she's 27. She's naive, trusting, and has little will power.
She was eleven-years-old. We're all naive and trusting at eleven.
OotP conveyed a completely opposite Ginny then you describe. Her attitude, how she defended herself and held herself, against her adversaries as well as with Harry, Hermione, and Ron was completely full of self surity. She believed in herself and was tired of being ignored, pushed aside, and forgotten about. She went through something horrible, and everyone seemed to forget about it.
That doesn't mean she's naive.
That just means she was coming out of her shell and trying to move on from her experience with Tom.
In fact, her anger towards being ignored and the walls she most obviously built between CoS and GoF are still quite intact in OotP. During the "lucky you" scene that is apparent. Ginny is not quick to trust anyone. Would you be after being possessed by a dark lord?
QUOTE
I'm not blaming an 11 year old for the CoS incident, but I do indeed believe that was some foreshadowing. Not foreshadowing of evil, but of supreme weakness. She was lured with flattery and attention, and she broke down.
Again, she was eleven. Anyone at a young age could easily be lured by flattery and attention. It's called life. When you're young, you put yourself out easier. You get hurt, and you learn from it.
I'm not saying Ginny's over what happened to her, not by a long shot. She's still learning from it. I believe Evil!Ginny is possible because at this point in time, she could go either way. She could turn out for the better from her experiences, or she could go the other way.
QUOTE
I believe this weakness carries on throughout your life, no matter what your age.
I believe you're wrong. That's like saying it's
impossible for someone to grow up.

Isn't is possible (you better sit down now, fandom) that Draco is just what he's made out to be...a negative character? Is it possible that he's never going good, and he's going to be the next Lord Malfoy?
Sure it is. But there is always more to someone than what they appear to be. Even if he does turn out to be the next "Lord Malfoy," that hardly means he's only and always going to be a two-dimensional character.
QUOTE
I hate to insult fandom (because I love you all obscenely, truly I do), but what is this obsession we have to make ever evil/cruel/dark character into a sad, misunderstood, neglected little boy? Maybe...he's just dark.
Maybe he is.
And the idea that Draco is sad, misunderstood, or neglected is laughable. Draco is not sad, he's angry. He's not misunderstood, he's just conditioned to believe ideals just as we all are. He's not neglected, he's waited on. I have no doubt that he is most definitely pressured and held up to high standards, and probably discouraged in many ways by his upbringing. But that all has shaped him to be who is he: snobbish, conceited, bullying, hostile, and uncaring.
But again, that's just two-dimensional. Underneath all that, I am sure he is not by any means some angel. He's probably just as snobbish, cruel, and conceited. But there's more to Draco than that.
No one is that two-dimensional.

Agree. One of my philosophy in life is that no one is born evil. We are brought up with values that some may consider good or evil. It is our choice to go against those values or to follow them.
As for Ginny turning evil, I think it's a possibility but what is stopping her is her family.

We know that the Sorting Hat yelled (when Ron was being sorted) "Ah!
Hmmm... I'd never thought about this. It is an interesting idea, but I still think Ginny does belong in Gryffindor. She's brave and reckless, qualities usually ascribed to Gryffindor-ness. But then again, we have been told that she can be quite sneaky, like when she stole her brothers' brooms when she was little or when she caused havoc in the halls in OotP. Still, I think that it was her growing up with the twins and their making her believe that 'anything is possible' that makes her act the way she does, and not malice.
I don't Ginny will become 'evil' for the simple reason that I imagine her as someone who would want to seek revenge from Lucius and Voldemort, not someone who would willingly join those who made her suffer and feel weak.

I have a comment on this. A few things that I have thought about. JK said COS events were to come back right? Ginny and chamber fit. Her being evil to me is possibal.
Also in the 5th book, department of mysterys how is that Ginny, the smallest of them all only gets a hurt ankle? The rest are hurt badly and she gets that. Seems odd to me. Also maybe Voldemort has plans for Ginny. Who knows. He could have instructed them to not hurt her or she has powers we don't know of.
Ove all we don't know much about her character.

Me too! Oh I hope I hope we get through HBP more insight to Ginny and further explanation of the Diary. WHY was it given to Ginny? Was it meant specifically for her? Is there a reason she seems to have no repurcussions of being possesed and under the dark lord's watch THIS LONG AFTER?

This is an interesting idea but I'm not sure a plausible one. Who hit her in the ankle, by the way?
I have my fingers crossed for something about Evil!Ginny in HBP, but I just have no clue what's going to happen.

No, it will be Draco going/being good becaues he
DID NOT kill Dumbledor, SO he is good, and Ginny fall in LOVE with him

I'm trying not to be insulting but that point of view is a little naive. the world isn't divided into good and evil, there is a lot in between. just because Draco couldn't pull the trigger himself doesnt mean he doesn't want Voldemort to win. When Draco was sad and crying it was because he believed he would fail and die not that he was asked to do something wrong. in six books we have never seen Draco do anything remotely good in nature. He even revelled in the fact that someone died by the actions he did to let deatheaters into the school.
If Draco and Ginny get together I imagine it will be years later and both of them will be that somewhere in between good and evil. Draco the stuck up aristocrat and Ginny the harsh and manipulative quidditch star.
