I recently drew up a list of nouns/qualities pertaining Harry and Hermione when I composed a wallpaper (which is up in the Gallery), and it got me wondering...
Remember that game you play sometimes where you're asked to name the first thing that comes to mind when something is mentioned? In this case, what would be the first thing in your mind and out of your mouth if I brought up Harry and Hermione in something like that?
Please feel free to recommend more options in the poll.

I agree there should be love becuase it's the first thing I assicaite with H/Hr. The greatest love.
But I voted for trust. Altough Love should be here.
Cheers

I voted for devotion. It's clear they are devoted to each other and the other's well being.
But I agree, love could have been there. I may have chosen it.

I voted for 'courage'. Because those two are definitely the bravest characters in the books.
But it was hard to decide. 'Trust' is also something I associate with H/Hr

I was going for faith but then I chose trust because thatt's what they have and thats what every relationship needs may it be platonic or non-platonic relationship.

I voted for trust. At least through OotP, it seemed that Harry and Hermione trusted each other above every one else. I think that trust was eroded in HBP, though I'm not 100% sure why. Still, that's the word I'd use. I think the kind of love we want them to have (meaning, romantic) can eventually develop from that kind of trust.

I'm sorry over the issue over here about not including "Love" as a poll choice...I didn't put it in because I felt that would be too straightforward/rhetorical. Please let me know if you want me to take a recount (grins at usage of word) with "Love" available.

I chose unconditionality because the two of them are willing to do whatever it takes to ensure the other's safety.

I voted for trust because that is what I see most out of H/Hr. Another (that I just thought of, but didn't realize I could have voted other) is completeness. Together, Harry and Hermione complete themselves; Harry the power and Hermione the brains. Both can do advanced magic; Hermione through books and Harry through actually preforming it.
Man, I wish I voted for other now. That was good.

Wow that was hard... I would've chosen love, but eventually went with unconditionality because I think H/Hr have all of those other things for each other unconditionaly. Hermione would trust Harry with anything and same goes for Harry, their respect for each other is also unconditional. It's really what I love most about them.

Honestly, the first thing I thought of was pumpkin pie. O.o; Nothing to do with a relationship I know...I'm pitiful.

but hey...it also gave birth to my avatar...so yeah....O.o;
I voted for Respect. Even after a fight, their mutual respect is -obvious-.

Gosh, you all are making me sad!

Reading all these posts, thinking about what could have been...
I voted for unconditionality, but I also thought of...Harmony!

Original I know, but to me, they are everything that would fix what is wrong in the world, what would bring Harmony to everyone. Perfection, soulmates, love, trust, devotion, wonder, they are all so fitting.
To Harry and Hermione, the best couple in the world!

I voted unconditional... because I think Harry and Hermione love each other unconditionally (or I thought until evil!DH). I always thought Harry and Hermione would love each other no matter how badly the other screwed up... like love isn't deserved or earned but just is.

How about "strength"? Their relationship is so strong that no one's been able to rip it apart....where Ron and Harry have had falling outs, and Ron and Hermione have had falling outs, Harry and Hermione never have. They trust each other unconditionally, and are always there for each other. That takes strength, my friends

I voted for "Other". I recently heard part of a radio interview with Patch Adams. He's the doctor who was played in the film of the same name by Robin Williams. Something he said has stuck with me ever since. He said that "love is thoughtfulness". When I heard that, I knew instantly that it was the word to describe H/Hr.
It's thoughtfulness that separates Harry's behaviour towards Hermione from Ron's. Ron cares for Hermione, that's a fact, but to me it's Harry who shows Hermione little gestures of thoughfulness associated with a romantic partner. Such as making himself eat the food she prepares in DH. How often have we seen husbands in films doing the same thing to spare their wive's feelings? Such as trying to make himself look "vaguely" tempted by the prospect of knitting hats with her in OotP. Such as not telling her he or Voldemort would have to kill each other because he couldn't bring himself to make her look more horrified than she did already. Such as deciding that he would never tell her that Slughorn used houselves to test for poison because he could imagine the look on Hermione's face. Quiet, important gestures of sensitivity for her feelings that Hermione is not even aware of. That is love. That is Harry and Hermione.

Adding to your list, I remember reading one line in Godrics Hollow where Harry says
he was a lot less sure than when he had tried to reassure Hermione, or something like that, even though he wasnt sure if they were being watched or not, he makes himself brave for her. Also when he tries to give her a "reasurring smile", at Bathilda's house. And the scene after when he's doesnt want to give the details of the Bathilda/Snake incident because he felt she didnt need to know.

That perfectly makes sense! Especially harmony... a relationship has to be harmonious in order to work. Anyway, I voted 'Others' but a whole lot of nouns attacked me as soon as I read the topic. Devotion, Loyalty, Trust, Respect, Understanding, Love, Support. Maybe I did read a little too many romance novels.
