wow what a great little thread

I'll take a whirl.
My scene is the scene in OoTP where Harry is moping and hiding out in Grimauld Place over Christmas, right after Mr. Weasley gets attacked.
Harry is hiding in Buckbeaks room and the only person to bring him out of his slump is the lovely Miss Granger. I wonder what would have happened if they didn't actually make it to where Ron and Ginny were waiting?
We can dream can't we?
Here is my dream of what happened before they went down to see the others.
QUOTE
Harry merely settled himself more comfortably against the wall of buckbeak the Hipogriffs room where he was hding, trying to ignore how hungry he felt as he fed Buckbeak dead rats. It came as a slight shock when somebody hammered hard on the door a few minutes later.
I know you're in there," said Hermione's voice. "Will you please come out? I want to talk to you."
"What are you doing here?"
Taken from OoTP, page 498 American paperback version.
"What are you doing here?" Harry asked feeling a large lump begin to form in his throat. Had she given up skiing with her parents because of him? He quietly stood and creaked the door open to see Hermione's pink cheeks and soft smile peering up at him.
"I thought you were skiing with your mum and dad?" He asked nervously. He didn't like how his heart began beating a bit faster than normal.
"Well, I was but Professor Dumbledore told me what had happened and I kind of figured you would be feeling a little down so...I've come for Christmas." She stated breathlessly. A slight blush began heating up her chilled face and Harry couldn't help but give her a lop sided grin. His mood seemed to lift almost immediately. Hermione had come to spend christmas with him? The thought was exhilarating.
"Can we get out of here?" Hermione asked suddenly giving the dead rats a weary glance. "I love Buckbeak but I can't stand to see him eat! ugh!"
Harry nodded and followed her a little ways toward the stairs before he stopped. He knew he would have to face Ron and the others soon enough. They were probably waiting to pounce on him with questions right now. However, he didn't want to forfeit this small gift of time with Hermione either. The pause was excruciating as he made a decision.
"Hermione...wait." He could feel his blood pumping furiously as she turned to gaze at him gently. "I...I...what I mean is...do
we have to go back down stairs right away?" He swallowed the lump that had formed again in his throat and took a deep breath. All he wanted was to have some peace.
She hesitated slightly before biting her lower lip and whispered, "Of course Harry. If that is what you need."
"It is exactly what I want." He stated with certainty. He crept toward her and held her small hand in his before leading her into another dusty old room. This wasn't exactly how he wanted it to be but he had to take whatever he could get. It wasn't likely there would be another moment like this one so he siezed it.
Without releasing her hand he turned to look down into her warm gaze and his pulse quickened. What the Hell was happening to him? He wondered.
Hermione seemed to sense something was amiss and worriedly sucked in her lower lip that endeared her to him more completely than he ever thought possible.
With his stomach lurching and his heart pounding loudly within his chest he opened his mouth to speak. "I...Merry Christmas Hermione," He whispered. She smiled timidly at him but unconsciously leaned into him and before either of them knew what was happening he had leaned down to gently touch his lips to hers. She sighed contentedly against him and he fell into the absolute sweetness of her. When it was over they pulled away and simply stared at one another in shock. That line of friendship had now been crossed and he was certain he would never back away from it again. She looked down at her feet and when she looked back up her eyes were sparkling, her wet hair curling from the melted snow.
When they managed to navigate down to the 2nd floor Harry gulped before opening the door to see Ron and Ginny sitting on his bed. He looked back at Hermione and gave her a crooked smile to which she blushed shyly. There wasn't a need to advertise this newfound feeling between the two them. He would have to think on it later. Perhaps he could find a way to be with Hermione after all this danger was over. He wouldn't let her get hurt. Of that he was certain.
He turned to face Ron and Ginny who were scowling at him. "How are you feeling mate?" Ron asked fearfully.
"Fine" he said flatly. The last few minutes of bliss with Hermione was fading fast as his problems raced to the forefront of his mind. He was still dangerous. He was still a wanted man and he bit back the urge to run from the room once more. Hermione seemed to catch onto his sudden change in mood and sighed.
"Oh Harry, stop thinking that your dangerous." She shook her head. "No one here is against you. I...I mean we are your friends and we care for you.
That lovely blush inched its way up her neck again and he couldn't help but wonder how much she cared for him. He cleared his voice gruffly. "I know that," he said with some difficulty.
Relief whether he wanted it or not flooded his heart and mind and when Sirius burst through the door singing God Rest Ye Merry Hippogriffs he couldn't help but laugh out loud at the absurdity of it all.
Hermione gave him a slight pat on the arm as she too began singing in a soft tenor. Harry thought nothing sounded sweeter.
Okay that went a little longer than I thought it would lol sorry about that.
