Am I the only one who's noticed the utter lack of good R/L fics? I mean, it's pathetic! We have a ship that has the potential to be very, very good. Ron and Luna are two of the funniest characters in the HP series. We could do wonders with these two!!
What I'm trying to say is, maybe a big R/L write-a-thon? I've heard about the Muffin project or whatever it is, and I kind of thought, "Well, if they can do it for D/G, why not us?"
What we need is a group of writers. Anyone who is interested should do it. Heck, I'll do it, and I'm not that great of a writer. Maybe a bunch of us could collaborate on a big fic, and then have a bunch of little ficlets running around. We would have to figure out the finer details later.
But seriously, people. This ship doesn't get the credit it deserves. We need something to give it a push so that more people are reading this stuff.
Anyone onboard?

This sounds like an excellent idea. I'd love to join, but I'm swamped at the moment. (Fic-writing, studying, and a little of this and that.) But I am writing on my R/L-fics, they're the ones I write most of, myself.

And I have always thought myself that there is a serious under-representation of R/L-fics, so I'll probably be first in line to read whatever you guys come up with.
Mod-notes: Being the moddy here, I'll get this pinned. (Seems that's how they do it in D/G.) If you want to change the name of the project, tell me and I'll fix it for you.

Holy shrimp, this is going less well than I thought...
Anyone interested? Anyone?
Okay, okay, I'll give it more time. I guess I'm just excited. The idead of new R/L fics tends to do that to me.
But if anyone is reading this and has an idea for this plan to get more publicity, please tell. We need to catch the attention of some big name Portkey writers, if that's possible.
Thanks a bundle,
Lauren

I hope to work on a multichapter Ron/Luna fic in the future after I finish my WIP's, but I don't know if I'd be much help since I don't really write H/Hr. If they are only mentioned in passing or casually, it wouldn't be so bad for me, but I really want to work on a Ron/Luna without H/Hr taking over the fic. It seems like if Ron/Luna develops in a multi-chaptered fic, it always ends up being shoved in the back ground or regulated to brief mentions or just one chapter.
I know quite a few people though that ship R/Hr or N/Hr or slash Harry and they really like Ron/Luna as well. On my LJ friends list alone, there are 4 people who ship Ron/Luna along with things like H/G and H/D and Hermione/Neville. If a fic was specifically R/L they might be willing to work on it. I know most Ron/Luna shippers are H/Hr as well, but there are pockets of them elsewhere too. Just an idea since you don't seem to be getting much of a response.

I don't think that will be a problem, Netbyrd. In fact, I think that's pretty much the important thing about this project. (At least if I've understood
fabulouslauren correctly.) That this project is to give the focus to Ron/Luna rather than some ship they go well with.
We are indeed in lack of those sort of fics, that are not one-shots. In fact the one multi-chaptered Ron/Luna-fic that didn't give focus to another ship that I know of is
Vingardium Leviosa. So if you want to be a part of this, I think you'd be a great attribution as you would be the least tempted to go off in a completely H/Hr-direction. That, and you're a fabulous writer.

And I personally don't mind if it has H/Hr as a companion ship, though I've only written them once and it's pretty obvious that it's not my cup of tea. But it would be nice if it didn't morph into a H/Hr fic, ya know? Or became a "Ron was jealous so he found Luna the end" type of fic either. And shantari, you make me blush with your compliment! I'm sure you know by now that my favorite ship is Harry/Ron, and a lot of those fic have them older and in an entirely different situation in which old crushes are 4 or 5 years past existing, so the jealous stuff doesn't really come into play. I like R/Hr too, so I hate to trash it when I write Harry/Ron. A space of a few years can make a big difference though, without bashing anybody.
Especially since Luna is a year younger than Ron, I think that it would be neat to see them come together like in their early twenties or something. We could take HBP canon into consideration even when developing it becuase there was quite a few parts to go on for Red Moon. Perhaps something post-Horcrux search? I don't know, I'm just throwing ideas out there. My mind is gioing in a completely different direction because I have to write Luna/Draco for a fic exchange first, but then I can start pitching in. I don't get much online time, but if I was told something like, "we're having a brainstorm chat on blah blah blah evening" I might beable to plan ahead and join it.

*squeal of delight* YESS! We must have more Ron/Luna! I've never actually written a R/L story before (it's all H/Hr with R/L on the side), but I'm up to the challenge!
I'll have a think and start writing as soon as I've got some ideas.

I have eighteen stories where Luna and Ron are either together or it's greatly implied. But I do agree, there is a lapse of writers for this ship. I have to spend hours finding stories that are not my own.

Sometimes, all it takes is one little push, or in this case, a good multi-chapterered fic, and then voila! Your ship becomes famous. Remember people, Draco/Ginny wasn't really anything until the Draco Trilogy by Cassandra Claire. And now look at Draco/Ginny - it's one of the biggest ships with more and more people hopping onboard! The same happened with Draco/Hermione with the fic Their Room by aleximoon, and the same with A Paradigm of Uncertainity by Lori.
All it takes is one fic.
We also need a bit more in the ###### area. There isn't that much. Sure, caina's ###### fics are pure gems, but we need MORE!

OH MAN.
I am so glad this thread wasn't forgotten. I haven't been very active in the past couple of months.
It's hard to write a multichaptered fic, I'm sure. I'm not an author, but I can see all the same. So I was thinking there could be a collaboration between several authors. That way, you won't run out of steam after the thousdandth word or whatever.
It's a crazy idea, but it's there.

I have seriously tried to hunt down a decent novel length Ron/Luna fic and all I come up with are one shots. I'm not saying one shots are not a good thing, but seriously, they're too short.
Thus, I'm all up for this project. I have one Ron/Luna fic about to be completed so far, but come February, I would love to write a Ron/Luna fic in collaboration or partnership with anyone here.
What I think we as writers on portkey need to do is encourage more novel length stories. Many writers feel that this shipping doesn't have the scope of being turned into a multichaptered fic. But thats when you're limiting yourself as an individual. Who said Ron and Luna couldn't go through their own share of angst or mystery...... people as individuals aren't funny all the time, are they? You don't get up everyday and crack jokes do you?
So I say this is a great effort on part of everyone here, and I'm volunteering completely. My only limitation is that I'll be able to start feb.

Maybe what we need is to make up a lot of prompts... like the Harry/Hermione ficathon or like I've seen in other pairings FunQFests?
Personally I've just recently hopped on board this ship although I do support two other Luna pairings as well and I'd be very interested in writing some Ron/Luna stories although I tend to get my motivations from prompts.
Perhaps we could set up a series of Valentine's Challenges and do a Valentine's Day fest, with a bunch of different prompts?

I'll happily write a couple of one-shots for a R/L ficathon, should one surface. I normally write H/Hr though, and getting into the characters enough for an extended piece with the focus on them will be hard.
But yes, more R/L needed

Yes there needs to be more R/L fics for sure.
I remember once reading a story on fanfiction where the author had each chapter seperated by H/Hr and R/L. Each chapter would deal with the same story but would be total differently through H/Hr point of view verus R/L point of view. Sometimes things would happen that would cause the couple to seperate but each couple would utimately be going toward the same goal in the end. I don't think the author ever finished it but I like the idea of it.
There needs to be a challenge set for a R/L fic.

I'd love to do something. I'm more of an H/Hr writer myself, but I really wish there were more R/L fics. I'd do some one-shots or maybe a multi-chapter story, I've had an idea rolling around my head for a while. I'm at your service, mods of Red Moon. *bows*
Edit as of 1/25:You know that idea? It's become a plot. I'm planning it right now and it's going to be a mystery. I've never seen one of those before, so it's kinda exciting for me. If anyone would like to help me out *coughorbetacough*, that would be awesome.

Hmm. I mostly post at harrypotterfanfiction.com, and there I've jumped aboard a Ron/Luna challenge, but I can't expand that into a fic. Maybe I'll jump on this once I get well into a Charlie/Tonks I'm brainstorming.
So yea, this is a really good idea! I think I've read all the fics on the internet for my precious OTP.
