I cried. I literally cried. I want my hope and ship back! NOW!

MODLY MINI-RANT!

about:

1. Some PK-ers ignoring pinned threads (would've spared 'em the trouble of asking how our ships' names came to be);

2. Some sites copying this topic's info about HMS Pumpkin Pie/HMS Harmony, without acknowledging or linking back to this thread.
*shakes head*

I'm sorry if any of you felt that I purposely omitted the origins of the story, because that was not the case. When I was first starting out with my website (harryandhermione.org) I just googled for the origin and found it on another site, who simply copied and pasted it. Since the author was credited and there didn't seem to be a link or resource for it on that particular site (which I think doesn't exist anymore because it was a long time ago), I figured it would be okay just the same to post it on mine.

Now that I've gotten better at researching where I get information, I have linked back to this thread and Fiction Alley's. Hopefully people will not reproduce awful things about harryandhermione.org simply because of a mishap such as this one.

Apology accepted, SmoiXa. I had seen at least one other site copy the exact details that I had posted, including my comments that this fic's "untitled, but it's known as the original Pumpkin Pie tale" and "PG or PG-13, I guess". So obviously that site or its source copied the following from here.

QUOTE
Title: untitled, but it's known as the original Pumpkin Pie tale
Author: Narri aka Someone The First
Rating: PG or PG-13, I guess
Genre: fluff

Then that site reproduced Narri's story in full. While it's good that she was credited as the author, I think I was justified in being PO'd that there was no link back to this thread. I had done a lot of work in 2003 to look for the FAP URLs and to compile all that info.

Add to that my annoyance upon reading the posts (that I've merged into this thread) that proved many forum members had obviously been ignoring the old thread we had pinned, which has a link to this "origin" thread. That was like asking someone a question that could've been answered by merely looking at signs on the wall, so to speak.

But anyways, it's not that big a deal; that's why I labeled my rant as "mini". smile.gif

Thank you so much for accepting my apology. biggrin.gif I understand how frustrating it can get when people keep asking questions when the answer is right in front of them. blink.gif

It seems like we have to always poke them to look in the right direction. poke.gif

What I find interesting is that while I see the "Harmony" name crop up more often now (at least here in PK) than the "Pumpkin Pie" one, I also see PK-ers continue associating the color orange with H/H, particularly pumpkin orange.

I'm more used to the "pumpkin pie" reference, but I usually say "H/H ship" or "H/H shippers".

Yup I'm one of those people! I use pumpkin pie like *hands over pumpkin pie* but I use Harmony to label the shippers and ship but I associate Pumpkin Orange with Harmony and get way too excited for my own good when I see Pumpkins. rolleyes.gif biggrin.gif But I like both HMS Harmony and HMS Pumpkin Pie, really depends what mood I am but I tend to use Harmony it's easier to spell out but I still use Pumpkin Pie and consider it one of thee symbols and the food for Harry and Hermione tongue.gif

Pen:Thank you for compiling all the info with how it came to be hug.gif It really makes me happy! It's adorable, so thank you heart.gif

First, fanfic author Cassandra Claire posted (on FictionAlley.org) a teaser from her fic, Draco Veritas' Chapter 4. It's reproduced at the bottom of this this post. Take note of Ms. Claire's challenge at the end of her teaser. In response to Ms. Claire's challenge, Narri wrote her Pumpkin Pie ficlet (linked somewhere above). It ended with the words: “You taste like pumpkin pie.”

Now that I've gotten better with searching for and linking board posts, I found Cassie's and Narri's original posts:

Cassie's H/H snog snippet

Narri's posting of the first H/H Pumpkin Pie tale

In case anyone wonders about the "Pumpkin Pie" ship name again, lead them to this thread or to its rec-engine record.

Yeah, I can be a nerd sometimes. smile.gif
