Harry/Hermione = Pumpkin Pie because of what was probably the first H/Hr Fan Fic out there

That's fascinating. I never really understood the Pumpkin Pie thing until I read the actual fanfic. But before the fanfic, I always thought it was because they hid together behind pumpkins. Lol.

The chocolate thing was a mystery, but ultimately, it didn't matter to me. I thought I was all very cute. Pumpkin Pie... Chocolatiers... very Hogwarts!

Okay, cool.

I guess that was the chocolate egg Harry opened in the library??

by the way is the first fanfic that started the name of our ship still around, would like to read it that started and created the name of my ship.

It wasn't the first fic out there. It was a one-shot, and it had Hermione kissing Harry. Then she goes on to tell him that he tasted like Pumpkin Pie. And the name stuck.
So, basically, we're HMS Harry's Lips.

Hmmm... that ship name is more appropriate for fangirls *nods*

All those nice pumpkins that Harry and Hermione hide behind together in POA just made me smile because it's so ironic eh?



I don't know if I'm just high on life, or just plain giddy, but that made me crack up and I have no idea why. Just, "the chocolate egg they once shared". LOL. It's cute though, really it is. It's just...a chocolate egg. That chocolate egg has beaten any adventure and emotional conversations Harry has had with Hermione, poor pumpkins.

Harry/Hermione is sweeter than chocolate.

Is there any real reference to Harry liking Pumpkin juice? This seems to be a recurring theme in fanfiction.

I'm not sure if he had just eaten pumpkin pie or pumpkin juic, I think it was the pie, hence the name...

I just know I have. Twice at least, in two different fics. I just can't remember which fics.

Honestly, it's almost mandatory for a H/Hr fic to have some reference to pumpkins. I, for one, have blatantly used it before. But, you know, it's old school. the old school name for chocolateers is HMS Orange Crush, which is much more clever than what they use now. I think Harmony is clever, too, which is why I'll use it... Though it's like switching from standard to metric, you're always converting in the back of your mind. I'm part of the HMS Pumpkin Pie through and through... *shrug* There have been worse, of course.

Do we still call D/G Fire and Ice? I've always liked that one.

I've always known about this mysterious H/Hr Pumpkin fanfic, but I've never read it.

The Tale of the HMS Pumpkin Pie

Once upon a time, there was a writer and H/H shipper named Cassandra Claire. She was in the middle of writing the fourth chapter of a story called Draco Veritas. And, being the good, H/H shipper she is, decided to post a snippet of an H/H snog on to this board. Her snog was angsty and steamy and made many of us blush.

It also kicked our muses into high gear. A call was heard all 'round the great ship H/H (as it was then known) for snoglets of any type involving our two heroes.

Many people posted and there was one (by Narri) in which our hero, Harry, coming from a feast, tasted like pumpkin pie. No one is sure why this particular tidbit or turn of phrase caught on, but it did, sweeping through the ship like pink-eye in an elementary school.

Many, *many,* of the snoglets that followed described Harry as tasting like pumpkin pie. There were even whole ficlets built around our two heroes and pumpkin pie.

In short, pumpkin pie became our unofficial mascot, until one day, after many snogs and ficlets, someone said, "Let us forthwith be called the HMS Pumpkin Pie."

And, that, my friends, is the story of the great ship, HMS Pumpkin Pie.

EDIT: I went looking for _Draco Veritas_ ... it's not at ff.net, but it is at FA. (I didn't even think to look for it here, actually, so I don't know if it is.) Anyway, I don't know Cassandra Claire, so I don't have the slightest chance of getting any permission to repost what she's done, but I can give you this link to Chapter 4 of DV. I am reading, and there's a great little part about... oh, a page down or so, that does something with pumpkin juice, but I don't know if there's more, I am reading on.

actually, I was lurker in countless forums back then, when I stumbled across parker's post... I've also read the snoglet which Cassandra Claire posted on a thread. I couldn't remember exactly which forum the post was made but my mind could still vividly remember the "snog that was angsty and steamy and made many of us blush."

I third the motion! Though I shamelessly admit that I have a huge soft spot for ######/fluff/steamy snoglets. Why? Because after I read em I go off with a happy smile on my face because my denial/imagining powers are so good that for some time I actually beleive that they happened. (Which is why I adore well written ######. All the more beleivable!)

Hi! I'm a newbie, and I have a question *gasp*! I have been enjoying the fics here for a week or so, posting reviews when I can, but I ran across something today on the site that's got me confussed. What does HMS stand for?

Actually the HMS in HMS Pumpkin Pie does stand for His/Her Majesty Ship. We are all believers in the relationship between Harry and Hermione, so we "sail" on the Harmony or Pumkin Pie ship.

I'm going to be nice and assume you're not just posing as an airhead and trolling, with a username like that. Pumpkin Pie is one of the two names for those who ship Harry/Hermione (the other being Harmony) and is taken from an early fanfic in which after a dinner at Hogwarts Harry and Hermione come to understand their feelings for each other and share their first kiss. The last line has Hermione telling Harry in amusement, "You taste like pumpkin pie."

I read somewhere on WikiPedia that stated the term was inspired by a fanfic. Harry/Hermione had shared their first kiss and she commented that he tasted like pumpkin pie. Thanks in advance..

To the best of my knowledge, the H/Hr ship is known as HMS Pumpkin Pie because of this short story. I don't remember where the story was originally, but it is posted here too:

Thank you very much for the link. Don't get me wrong. I also prefer the HMS Harmony but I just wanted to know some more of the history that surrounds our ship. I had originally thought the 'Pumpkin Pie' thing came from the scene in the PoA movie with Harry/Hermione in Hagrid's pumpkin field.

I was thinking about linking either the FAP (the one that was already linked by Shane!ComeBack!) or the link to the story at Parker's Yahoo Group (it's there too- but you have to be a member to read it.)
