Perhaps I've just missed it (I've been away from the online fandom for a few months for reasons beyond my control), but does the Harry/Hermione ship have a motto? I'm thinking along the lines of the Ron/Hermione crew and their reliance on "we believe in trees," and whatnot.

If we're motto-less, I think we should get one. And my vote would be "Because it's right, not easy." You know, because of Dumbledore's line in GoF on page 724: "Remember, if the time should come when you have to make a choice between what is right and what is easy, remember what happened to a boy who was good..." etc. I've always thought this was one of the many important themes of the series, and this theme is really the main reason why I doubt Hermione/Ron will ever come to light. Just because it's easy doesn't mean it's right.

Anyway, if we have a theme and I've just missed it...let me know what it is!

Since, you know, that's what people say we do, and since R/Hr is so ###### obvious, you MUST be reading between the lines if you see H/Hr.

That, or, "We eat Pumpkin pie... and R/Hrs for breakfast" Tee hee. Kidding

You know, like we see the "Big Picture." It's an old saying, but ya know, whatever. . .

Or is it "for the trees?" I can't remember.

I'm too lazy to come up with my own, but I personally like:

I'm lazy too. However, I really like "Because it's right, not easy". "We can see the forest through the trees" would be my second nomination.

It is 'for the trees', but that's for when the sentence is in the negative - you can't see the forest because of the trees. When it's in the positive, you'd be saying 'despite' rather than 'because'. So how about "We can see the forest despite the trees"?


EDIT: Ooh, ooh, I've had an idea! How about:Yes, that is supposed to read 'canons'.

And you know that the 2 most obvious colors of trees are: GREEN AND BROWN.

So in a way, The Herons are believing in our ship!

I really like "Because it's right, not easy", "Friendship, Trust, and Understanding bring Harmony", and "We read between the lines." I also really liked "friendship often ends in love; but love in friendship -- never" (I thought that was very insightful) & "Love isn't blind; it just needs glasses (right, Harry?)" (that one made me laught).

Something of my own.... I remember something my religion teacher said when taking about how people view love. He quoted:

"Love is not a hole you fall into; it is a house you build up."

I don't remember who said this quote, but it really stands out. If you think about, we often mistake falling in love in the same sense we fall in a hole -- it doesn't get you anywhere if you don't do anything about it. However, if you use the hole as the start of a foundation to a house, you achieve something more. With love, you need to support each other -- you must give as well as accept what is given to you. It also can't be neglected, otherwise it will fall into disrepair. To sum up my thought, I suggest:

Love's a house -- not a hole.

Reading between the lines from the beginning

Gotta say I love loads of them but particulary 'Because it's right, not easy' because I always liked the Dumbledore quote in the first place (more so since I used it in my AS RE exam last year and got good marks - it's the HP magic I tell yer! ) But that aside it really sums up how I feel about H/Hr - there's a thousand poetic ways you can say how amazing what they have is, but at the end of the day to me they're simply just right together.

I'm so taken with it in fact I may have to toodle off to make an avatar with it on cos me name bit is look a tad bare methinks! Something to occupy the torturous countdown till Saturday!

Ooh. Fun. We also have our own personal interpreters to analize each line of the books as well as the series as a whole. We have our own personal jets so we can travel the world to spread the news of Pumpkin Pie. We have our own spa with masages, wirlpools, saunas, steam rooms, swimming pools, and everything else you could desire. We have sports fields for playing, and a game room with every game you can imagine.

As you can see, our ship is quite large. The largest there is. How could we possibly lose?

I think it started on one of their message boards, and it was something along the lines of we (H/Hr's) refused to believe in the obvious (R/Hr), and that was as foolish as denying the existence of trees. Hence, the "I believe in trees" motto.

That's why personally, I like the "I can see the forest" motto, because the Herons have latched onto one or two trees, and completely refuse to see the H/Hr forest around them.

How about:

Because JKR saved the best for last.

That's in regard to our ship cuz it seems that in HBP two of the three most popular ships (R/Hr and H/G) seemed to be happening or close to happening.

....To me that means JKR saved our ship, the best ship, for the last book of the series.
