Us mods, namely Sakura1287 (Kristina), vanillapuf (Daniela), and InTheStars (Crystal), have looked at this forum with sadness and despair for too long.


We are going to clean it up, rearrange it, and reinvent it to what it used to be and dare we say, make it even better.


We have plans in the works to make D/G a happening place, with more interesting topics than you can shake a muffin at!

So it's apparent after yesterday evening (07July) that the D/G has the potential to be alive.

Was yesterday a lucky occurence of more than one shipper being online at once? Or was it really a sign that the D/G could come galloping back full force?

It's up for us to choose whether it's going to reign in its full glory, or fizzle out after one promising evening.

We have some good topics going, and we need to figure out if we want to start anymore while we're warming up, or wait for some new shippers to head our way before opening new discussions.

I seriously think that we should continue with the topics posted and advertise the CRAP out of the D/G forum in our sigs, going to different forums and discussing not only the topics there but comparing it...possibly. Also, Newbie attacks. Go into wrestling the troll and getting some greeters. If we get them there, when they're still curious about the shipping process...as well as the forums in general, we'll get a better following.
They all start as H/Hr until we come in with our dark muffin batch and reel them in by the gills.

It's not hard to get more people in, we just need the manpower to do so.

I can't exactly tell you how it happened, but I would love to help spread the word. So, from now on, I will make sure to say something about the portkey.org D/G forums. D/G rocks!!!!

This is a brilliant idea, I only wish I had a stable internet connection :S. I think we should have more roundrobins (well, there hasn't been an active one all the time I've been around, and we so have to change that!)

I'm glad that there is participation for the rebirth of the forum. I have been a D/G shipper since book 2 actually. I had a recurring thought about the two and wondered how interesting that would be to know that Draco couldn't be as bad as what he seems. (Well, not evil anyway.) Since Pansy Parkinson did say that 'all the guys want her', I wondered if Draco wouldn't want to see what all the fuss was about. Anyway, good luck to you all and D/G forever!

Well, first I read some D/Hr stuff, which i just found totally out of the blue.
I then found this fic called Love is a Battlefield, which has D/G as the side ship. (great fic too)
To cut a long story short, i talked about it with my friend and she recommended HEAPS of D/G stuff which I absolutely loved and have since been a loyal follower.

Okay, I just stumbled upon the forums here. I am an avid D/G enthusiast. I absolutely cannot fathom either of this pair with anyone else. They are each unique and full of depth. The relationship possibilities are endless. As I am sure you all are as well, I am quite disheartened by the lack of stories for our duo lately. I will agree that with the release of HBP it is a little difficult to persuade potential newbies that this ship could happen. However, I only see the possibilities for this ship. Oh, yes, there are endless ways in which they could live their lives.

I do agree that we should take this campaign to the other forums, do a little recruiting if you will.

The recent Felix Felicis competition seemed to be successful, but most of the stories were H/Hr. I don't know if it is possible, but what about a strictly D/G competition? It could have guidelines such as, must be acknowledge events of HBP, new fiction, and whatever other requirements we can come up with to add twists and excitement.

I noticed there was the one night where everyone seemed to be "on" and a flood of ideas poured forth in this topic. It might be interesting to pick a day/time and encourage as many interested members to join in and post. The more supporters we have together at one time, the better discussions we'll have. I think it would really help us grow. We could even pass the word around to other shippers, so they could drop by. Let them see how excited we are about our ship!

I couldn't agree more. Yes, HBP has slowed down D/G activity and support to about nil... that's why we, the mods of DG, started this topic. However, out of pure bad luck it just so happens that all three of us are seniors in high school. To be a senior in high school is essentially taking away every second of free time we have, because of college applications and all that.




That was part of our plan. We were going to expand out to bring people in, and even put links to the forum in our signatures. I was going to make them, but I never got around to it.




I really like this idea, and I would love to run it by one of the admins. The only pressing matter I'm concerned with is time. :/




Picking a day/time may be great in theory, but kind of difficult in practice. To get all D/Gers in the forums at once and a large enough mod team to well, moderate, would be extremely hard given our schedules. As it is, the forum needs a sweep, anyway.

I understand how busy life is for the three of you...senior year was very busy for me. Hey, just wait until you get to your senior year in college! I am lucky enough to own my own business, which I run from my home, so if I can be of any help, I have a rather flexible schedule. I actually have a degree in English composition. This forum, along with the stories themselves are invaluable. I am thankful to have a place to openly discuss creative thoughts and improve writing skills.

Humm. have you thought of uttilizing the Chat room? I have had trouble getting in, so maybe it no longer works. I found back in the old days that chat really brought people together, and us loser in the old crowd came up with some pretty awsome ideas just fooling around in chat.

It's hard to say what we should do to encourage D/G, I find there are endless possibilities when it comes to fan fiction, but sometimes it's hard to discuss the finer points. I've always thought Portkey needed some form of 'prizes,' though it's been a while so maybe they have. Like if we had more contests or something, I don't know lol. I just know that D/G fans are a little nicer than well... some other shippers, and this used to be a pretty happening place when I was around, it would be great to see it up and running again in all it's glory.

How about we make a thread in the Challenges section and put little remider things in our sigs? It's a way to get it out there and it would only be a few days after Valentine's Day. Give people a few days to think on it and then have a shipload of D/G fics. What do you guys think?
