I have read many [lovely] fics where Ginny draws Draco but none where he is the artist. So... I challenge you to write a fic that involves Ginny, Draco and a portrait of Ginny.

Title:: Painted on my Memories / You choose
Length:: Any
Genre:: Fluff or Angst
Requirements:: Draco, Ginny and a portrait of Ginny.
Other:: Well if you need inspiration I've made a couple of pics/blends to illustrate this theme:

Notice Ginny's smirk and the D.M signature. Subtle huh?

More explicit ^^

Ooo... And here are some angsty lyrics if you decide to make it angsty and are in need of inspiration:
"It's true, the way I feel
Was promised by your face
The sound of your voice
Painted on my memories
Even if you're not with me
I'm with you"

I know that this is a challenge and not a fic hunt, but I've read a couple of stories where Draco paints Ginny (I don't think I've ever read anything that was the other way 'round). And some of those stories are exceptionally good, so I'm going to link you to them anyway tongue.gif

First off, Davesmom's The Colour of her Knickers. A classic.

Then there's Seanbiggerstafflover's The Painting.

I know there's others, but those two are the ones I like best.

Oh, thanks for the links. I can't believe I missed them, especially when I've read a couple of Davesmom's fics ^^.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post this here, but I'm working on a response to this challenge.

Here's a little snippet:

QUOTE
Draco Malfoy sat in front of an easel with a brush in hand, staring at the blank, white canvas in front of him. He promised her this so many years ago, but something always seemed to get in the way. Not anymore. He would not allow it to be put off any longer. Too many promises he had broken; too many times  he had turned away. Now there was no more turning away, no more promises to be broke. This was the last; the last promise he had to fulfill before he could join her once again.

I have a very long way to go before it's finished, but it's only going to be a one-shot, so I hope to have it done by the end of the coming week. Once I've finished and posted it, I'll add a link in this reply to it.

Draco Malfoy sat with his pencil in hand, a blank piece of parchment in front of him.

Slowly his hand moved across the page. He wasn't even really paying attention to what he was drawing.

When Draco drawed it was as if his hands took control, creating images of the deepest desires of his heart. His drawings were a way of unlocking the secrets held deep inside.

His perfectly shaped hands continued to move gracefully across the page creating stroke after stroke.

Finally he had finished. He looked down at his newly drawn creation. A jolt ran through his heart as he looked into a perfect image of Ginny Weasley. Her same smile shone through the picture, her eyes showing warmth and happiness. Draco who had always drawn things he feared was now looking into the image of the person he loved.

Draco stared at her image entranced. A horrible pain began to twist inside him. Ginny Weasley had become fimrly imprinted in Draco's mind. He had seen her around school, always smiling, always happy.

But inside he knew he could never have her. She was a Weasley, he was a Malfoy. He was in Slytherin, she was a Gryffindor. it was just un heard off. So silently he had suffered. Always watching her from afar. Painfully aware of her smiling eyes, which he wished just once would smile at him.

Draco sighed and screwed up the picture throwing it into the bin.

Filch was collecting rubbish from the library, a flash of red hair and the bin Filch had been holding was knocked out of his hand. Ginny Weasley scrambled to her feet collecting the parchment that had fell from her hand.

"Sorry" she mumbled and ran away as fast as she could before he could say "detention".

Ginny ran outside and sat down under the tree by the lake. Looking through her parchment she saw a screwed up piece in amongst her work. Curious she opened it.

Ginny gasped and smoothed out the paper. She was staring into her own face, smiling up at her. Wondering who could possibly have drawn this she looked around. Shrugging she stowed the picture into her pocket.

Draco was staring absently at the giant squid basking in the shallows. He could hear voices and looked around recognising the same musical voice that haunted his dreams.

"So who do you think did it?"
"I'm not sure" Ginny answered swinging her flaming hair behind her. "I wish I knew".
"Your so lucky Ginny. I wish someone would draw a picture of me". The girl sighed, "It's so romantic".

Draco sat up. Surely she could not have found the picture. He thought he threw it away.

He walked over quickly.

"Oh no, said Ginny's friend, "Here comes Malfoy"

Ginny looked up surprised. it was not like Malfoy to talk to her, he usually just picked on Harry and Ron.

"What's that you have Weasley?" Draco smirked, snatching it out of her hands.
Ginny glared at him furiously. "It's mine! so give it back Malfoy you jerk!".

Malfoy looked at the picture and saw that it was the same one her had drawn.

"You drew this?" Malfoy said.
"No, I found it if you really must know". Ginny snapped, she was still trying to snatch it off him.
"Then who drew it?"He asked
"I don't know, but he'd have to have a lot more decency then you. Now give it back!"
"You like the picture?" Draco asked looking into her eyes.
"Of course I like it" she said.

Draco handed her the picture. "It's a good likeness"

Ginny stared at him. "Yeah I know" she said slowly.

Draco walked off leaving Ginny and her friend.

"Ahh, I still don't know who drew it!" Ginny said frustrated.
"Here Ginny, there is a simple spell that will allow us to know who drew it." Hermione said soothingly.

Hermione took the picture in her hands and tapped it with her wand mumbling something under he breath. Instantly the words Draco Malfoy formed onto the bottom of the parchment. Hermione let the picture go with a shock and stared at Ginny.

"Who did it?" Ginny asked eagerly.
"Draco Malfoy" Hermione said in a shocked voice.

Draco was once again staring absently into space. He saw the flaming hair dancing in the wind. Her cinnamen brown eyes sparkling in the sunlight as she moved towards him, a smile set against her face. Draco did not move. He had seen this same image in his dreams, surely he was just dreaming again?

"Hi" Ginny said brightly sitting down next to him.

Draco looked at her next to him, her eyes were smiling at him. He wasn't dreaming he thought. She really is here next to me.

"Hi" he said automatically.
"I wanted to thank you"
"What for?"
"For drawing my picture"

Draco looked at her stunned. His heart beating. How did she know?

"I find out by using the revealing charm". she said apologetically. "I understand if you didn't want to tell me".

Draco stared out into the setting sun. "It wasn't that I didn't want to tell you" he said softly. "I didn't want to cause any problems".

Ginny looked at him surprised. "What do you mean?"
"I'm a Malfoy and your a Weasley. Think what your brothers would say if they knew I was drawing pictures of you."

"Oh" Ginny said as this new light came to her.

Draco looked at her and felt his heart melt. Slowly he put out his hand and touched her cheek. He looked into her face. Tiny flecks of gold were dancing in her eyes, she had a whole aura of light and fire surrounding her.
Leaning forward he kissed her softly on the lips.

"I love you Ginevra Weasley". Draco stood up and started walking away, "But I can't be with you" he said to himself.
