The annoying thing is that asside from the romance, I absolutely loved the book. It was much better than OOtP, IMO. The plot was great. The twist at the end was shocking. It was up to her usual style.

The problem is she doesn't write romance like she writes everything else. With most of the stuff in the books, it is subtle with just enough hints so that when you go back you see it. That was part of the reason for my belief in H/Hr. It fits her model perfecly.

SPOILER!
Instead, what we got was either so obvious and out there or no set up whatsoever. Either way, not the way she usually writes.

She can't write romance.

Still, I'm going to stick it out. I loved the plot. I'm hoping that someone will write a fanfic that follows the plot but SPOILER!
changed it to H/Hr and R/Lu.

I have been disappointed with the way the characters are portrayed in this book (it does really read like a bad fanfic, particularly for the Trio), but Ginny did shine, and she is much more memorable and lovable here.

So, cheers to the HMS Chocolate! I can really stomach H/G now.... and I even like `her dancing long red hair` smile.gif

However, Hr/R is quite dreadful still, especially the way JKR wrote them.

Nonetheless, the plot is still good and fun, and with the ending nearer, I am glad to say that I am looking forward to Book 7 and the conclusion of the series. I am definitely interested in knowing how love will destroy Voldermort. tongue.gif

Still, I can`t say that H/Hr has sunk.... it will sail as long as there are crews `manning` her. Long live H/Hr!!! thumbup.gif

I can not tell you how much I'm crying right now. It just felt it was - Wow she's kissing that guy I like her now. I don't know I just don't have the emotional connection to her*harry's girl*. The only way I will like the series to end now is if the trio dies all of them in battle with Voldermort. I'm just so sad. The mayor thing is this sudden harry liking you know who. ( I do not mean Voldermort blush.gif ).
The only thing I do not understand is,
if harry got this perticular girl, then how come J.K.Rowling not made Ron end up with hermione. The only ones left to put together are Ron/Hermione or Ron/Luna, and Neville/Hermione. Since J.K.Rowling squished Neville/Luna sometime ago. and

I wonder how Dan and Bonnie are going to feel about this "little" development, Dan especially. At least he's read ALL of the books.

GAAAHHHHH!!! mad2.gif Is JKR trying to mess with our heads here?

Please everybody, have courage we didn't loose alright. I know things seem bleak right now,but it's not the end of the world. Right now I would even go so far as to say its a draw with the R/Hr's because they didn't get the response they were hoping for either. I know the Chocolateers were already poping the champaign when Harry kissed Ginny, but not so fast silly rabbit,he breaks up with her at the end of the book. There goes their ship down for the count once and for all. The only thing we have to worry about now is the posibility of R/Hr dating in the seventh book, and will that ship continue. After Hermione didn't return Ron's declaration of love to her I would say...we'll have to wait and see. J.K Rowling likes twists and turns and this book is the worst rollercoaster ride in the series. Just when you think something is going to happen one way she throws a nice curve at you to throw you off the trail. I was at the book party the other night and most of my friends are Herons, and of course they were already celebrating because they knew for a fact that Ron and Hermione were going to get together in this book. Looks like they guessed wrong. One would have thought that it looked like the end for us and Harry will never see Hermione more than a friend after it looked pretty concrete who the couples were going to be for the rest of the series-H/G,R/Hr,sickening thought I know, but that's what scared me about HBP. We're in the home stretch now and it looks like anybody's ballgame at this point so the war isn't over yet. And I'm going to remain confident in believing that H/Hr will get together in the end.
neni
Guys please get a grip on yourselves!!

What happened to that air of confidence we had before??
Or all those late nights with Pumpkin Pie and Pumpkin Juice?!
Don't tell me you're giving up just when we're running towards the last base!!
Need i remind you that we have all those brilliant essays that hold so many facts and evidence that they aren't just some plain-dumb have-too-much-free-time-on-my-hands-that-i-write-essays-for-harry-potter!!

You are right.I guess last night I was just a little emotional. Not only over the shipping but over dumbledore's death. I never thought I would be this upset over his death though you could tell is one way to go with the story. My sister thinks I'm mental for it. This book, as someone earlier said is the worst rollercoaster twist one could read. But now that I'm alittle more stable on my emotions I have to say the way dumbledore died and the way harry found ginny so attractive is that there's still a few tricks up heRowling'sr sleve(sp?). I have now made up my mind and my courage still stands that H/Hr is not completely over.
Ayu
I'm glad to see that some people have finally calmed down and acted their age (I think...you know what I mean!).
HBP SPOILER!

Let's keep in mind, however, that Harry only broke up with Ginny to protect her, not because he lost interest in the relationship. I have a feeling they'll get back together, but...who knows? As for R/Hr, it's practicly undeniable. Hermione sicked a flock of canaries on the boy for kissing Lavender, she was jealous when he started "going out" with her, and let's not forget the scene during the funeral, when he was holding her, with her crying into his shoulder...
Sadly, I don't see much of a chance for Harmony, after this....Hermione even SMILED when Harry kissed Ginny. She had no problem with it at all, but when Ron kissed Lavender...you get my point. But this doesn't mean it's impossible.

BUT does that mean we're to give up and lose faith the instant something goes wrong? Are we to jump ship, just because it's not canon? No, we aren't!! We can still go for fanon, even if we lose! We can write fanfics, post more fanart and other stuff! So what if we may have lost one battle (HBP)!? We can still win the war (the whole series)! Let's not give up just yet!! The 7th book isn't out yet, there's still a chance!
My GOSH, I'm cheesey. o_o' But keep your spirits up, for all our sakes!

Ditto. Although I think the H/G and R/Hr shippers have been decidedly unboastful and have not rubbed in as much as they could have. But it will be such a relief after all the speculation and doubt to be proved right.

I've Posted this on another board and I'm posting it here to!

O.k. I usually don't respond to these things but I had to respond to this. To all H/hr fans I really can't believe some of you are giving up. I love that couple and regardsless of if jk rowling puts them together or not I'm still going to prefrer them not R/hr. If you are true H/Hr fans you won't abandon them no matter what the outcome. Especially the writer's of fanfiction because you're not writing what JK R. is you're making it your own. I mean isn't that the whole point of fanfiction. Besides she could have put r/hr together but she didn't in this book. So to me that SAYS SOMETHING. But like I said before no matter the outcome. I'm still going to love H/Hr and if you are TRUE FANS of this ship you'll do the same. wub.gif

I know it's sort of off topic but I felt the need to place it here.
Shikamaru
I have something to say here. I'm a R/Hr so I'm probably not most welcome in this particular thread at the moment, but it's kind of depressing to see all of you writing messages like R.I.P. Harry Potter, and etc. I've seen you guys support this ship with mind-blowingly long essays, I've seen you pick apart sentences and find hidden meanings, and dedicate so much of you time and years towards your preference. Even if things aren't looking good, why are you giving up? Even if what happens in the canon HP timeline isn't what you wanted, does that not mean you still have an obligation to make sure all those things you did weren't just for nothing, and that H/Hr can still be found and supported by others? I support R/Hr, and I think even if I tried to support something else, I would still go back to the idea of R/Hr in my head. So how can you abandon your ship like this? Because I know even if you say you are going to leave Harry Potter because of this, you will still be thinking about it. So why not just continue? And that's my message. You can read it or ignore it, your choice.
Gothic Girl
i would be rolling around on the bed squealing as i always do when i am reeeeealy happy, i know, i'm weird.

Keep the Faith!!! Keep the Faith!!! Keep the Faith!!!

It's not over until the Fat Lady in the portriat hole can actually sing a pitch to shatter glass. There's one more book. Which doesn't look as if it will be at Hogwarts next year. Anyway, Harry and Hermione still have a chance, they just have to quit being stubborn and realize their feelings.

Harry and Hermione forever!!!! thumbup.gif

To the R/Hr fan, I salute you.
You are the most sensible fan of your ship.
But I think that we have a right to give up, becuase when has J.K Rowling ever changed her mind about anything after a book.
Don't get me wrong, though, I will be jumping for frickin joy if they get together, but do you really think that she will change all of a sudden?
I for one thought that this was the best book plotwise but ship wise I think J.K Rowling should be put in a mental institute.
I think this will be a great book for Harry and Hermione to get close again.
Now the fact of Ron. I think I will start a thread about his reaction if it happen's.
Guy's, I know I am not the first person to think this, nor the last.
Are we all on board a sinking ship? unsure.gif
I mean I am just saying what all of us are thinking.
For those of you bailing out, you were never a real fan.
So until then I guess that there will be people who will go down with this ship.
I will be one of those people. crying.gif

agreed

so to all you R/Hr fans:

Cyborg: (To lava creatures) Screech all you want! We're not goin' down without a fight!

and those that have given up I, a H/Hr fan have this to say.

Robin: Then I guess... I'll just have to have enough hope for the both of us.

which means I will not jump this ship. I will go down with it. Even if they don't get together
tenoh27
Well, even if the fat lady had sung and H/Hr did not get together, it`s no big deal.
I like H/Hr the way they were and nothing is going to change that, even canon.

Nice references to the Teen Titans. tongue.gif It wasn't really The End there, either, was it? wink.gif

And I agree. We can't give up like this. Already, I've heard of people getting essays together, explaining the events in HBP (don't know when they'll be posted). Even I got a idea for a new essay or add to a past essay, haven't decided (through I've got to read the book first).

We shouldn't give up just because we see R/Hr and H/G on the surface of HBP. We need to do what we've been doing since the beginning: looking beyond the obvious.

Remember, some of the theories people had happened to be correct. smile.gif

SPOILER!
Hermione was never jealous of Fleur, like R/Hrer shippers said for the past 4(?) years. Also, I remember people talking about the hands on the British cover. Herons said it was Harry and Dumbledore, however, Harmonians disagreed, saying that one of the arms was too female like to be a boy's (of course, we figured it was H/Hr, but it's the thought that counts)

See? biggrin.gif We're not out of this yet. We are good at what we do, reading between the lines and actually thinking things out. Not jumping at things and taking them at face value.

Keep the faith, my friends! thumbup.gif The wind will pick up again and Harmony will sail!

I'm very sorry to say this, but JKR just sank us in her second interview with MuggleNet and The Leaky Cauldron. They wasted no time in insulting us...and I'm curious as to why she would insult a third of her fanbase.

I would rejoice, posting all day here (and eventually will get grounded by my parents - hopefully not by the Mods if I babble out some incoherant thing about HHr rocks and stuff like that).

Then I would leave the RHrs and HGs alone. As far as I know, no one likes to be pitied, and I certainly don't like to be pitied by RHr and HG shippers. It's pride I suppose.

And then I would read the romance bit about HHr again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again, and oh you get the picture don't you.

I would be overall: ecstatic, triumphant (I won't show it though, don't wanna upset anyone), etc. [insert any word that means overwhelming happiness]...

This is an "If" thread. If HHr doesn't happens (which I know it almost certainly won't), well, whatever. But if it does I will be like so happy as can see...
CursedBlondie
I already posted once, but I changed my mind.

If H/Hr happens I will go on mugglenet and write a long and detailed letter to a sertain person whose name starts with and E and he is 18 or so years old..muahahahahaha. Nah I'm joking, I will probably pass out from shock and after I wake up I'll just jump around laughing like a maniac...yep sounds fun.
Moony Jr.
At this point, I don't know how I would react. I would probably shout to the high heavens out of happiness for it happening, as long as it doesn't happen in a contrived way anyway. We're supposed to be a sunken ship at this point, so to be shown right in book seven would cause such a suprise that I don't know how things would go. I would only hope that Harmony shippers can compose themselves enough to not go over the top like some of the R/Hr and H/G shippers did. I know there were a good number of them, like the ones here on Portkey, that had been civil but you all know the ones that have been putting us down in recent weeks.

*Imagines the chants of "I TOLD YOU SO!!!" coming from thousands of Harmony shippers world-wide*

No, I wouldn't gloat, that's just not the kind of person that I am! (Who am I kidding) But really, I wouldn't have the energy to gloat, I would be to busy jumping up and down like a mad woman, screaming at the top of my lungs, and rolling on the floor giggling like a four year old. Not to mention the giant smile that will be perminintely glued to my face! biggrin.gif

Go Harmony! H/Hr Forever!

I will feel that my points and predictions have been Validated. Other than getting fifteen dollars on the bet me and my friend have, I feel that I could write a lot more than I already have based on the truth on my beliefs.

To the writers of this forum: I don't expect any of you guys to give up writing H/Hr if it does happen. I admit that the mystery will be over, but the AU's, different years, and even after-voldie fics can still appear. I won't stop. I don't expect any of you to either.

I would jump and down and screamming "taket that!! you bloody Delusional and bloody-R/hr and H/G!!!you eat OUR PUMPKIN NOW!!!!!" tongue.gif thumbup.gif

and I will go over sea and find Mrs. Rowling somewhere in..(England) and said "sorry for saying all of those "nasty comment" about you..you are still genus."

When I read that one part where Harry and Hermione finally get together, I'd get that warm fuzzy feeling inside of me (the one I usually get during shippy moments between them)

After that, I'd probably smile dumbly, grab my cell, and call all my H/G and R/Hr friends and go "BWAHAHAHAHA! I win! I was right! I was right ALL along! You weren't! HAH! Taste of your own medicine, this is!"

And then, I'd go to Mugglenet, and Emerson would SURELY have something up there about how us delusion people were right all along, and how he was 'just pretending to be a Heron' (that IMO would be funny)

Then, I'd read the comments on the post, and add one of my own saying,

"And WE were delusional. Hmph. Well, I won't gloat about it like some of you horrible Herons did when HBP came out... but... HAHA! WE WERE RIGHT! YOU WERE WRONG! NANANA BOO BOO!"

Uh... maybe not... not really the overly gloating type...

Well, you get the point. I'd be happy. biggrin.gif

OMG! I would go CRAZY... w00t.gif

I would actually (in order) GASP, Shriek, SCREAM, Jump around (where ever i am...i pray that i am in my room and not in a public place...because i know i am gonna go crazy)...and then probably reread the whole paragraph, chapter, book, etc...and probably the whole series blush.gif

if/when this happens this will seriously become my most favorite book series and it will make everything worthwhile rolleyes.gif

This is a fun thing to think about in light of...recent events. After all, if you haven't got your dreams, you haven't got anything, am I right?? So I'm gonna dream a bit here...

Okay, so it's about 2 years from now...I'm sitting somewhere, probably on my bed, reading HP7...and I see that H/Hr happened...first of all, I'd probably stare at the page for a good long time, in shock. Then I'd shake out of my shock, and re-read the page about 20 times to make SURE that it's not just wishful thinking and/or my delusions getting the best of me. Then I'd probably go into shock again. When I came out of it a second time, I'd probably grin. A lot. Then I'd hug the next random person I happen to come across, no matter who it is. And then I'd promptly get on the phone and call my sister and my friend Kristen, b/c both of them are big Harmonians too. Much squee-ing would follow. Then, I'd log on to Portkey and join the huge party that would most definitely be going on! thumbup.gif

And...I might have to just take a peak at Mugglenet...I wouldn't gloat, I promise, but I'd just have to see what they'd be saying...

*sigh* That's a nice dream.
I will think of that dream whenever I'm having a bad day, and it will cheer me up.

And if the dream somehow comes true...that will cheer me up for, oh, a YEAR. Lol.

**Pumpkin pie love from Dora the Delusional**
Alex Hollin
Oh, wow. I read through this entire thread and saw the mood go from pre-HBP speculation to total depression...to cautious hope.

I BELIEVE IN PUMPKIN PIE. Even after the interview, even after the horrible Chocolate and Heron moments, I know we can still sail; I never expected H/Hr in BOOK SIX. I've been expecting R/Hr to get together in six and break up, leaving seven for H/Hr. We're just a bit behind schedule, that's all. biggrin.gif

If it means I believe in true love and see past the obvious, I will take the title of Delusional and wear it proudly.

WHEN H/Hr happens in Book Seven:

It will be during the all-nighter I pull when a book is released. It will be dark and I'll be the only one awake, reading by flashlight or the little lamp on my nightstand.

1. I'll read the H/Hr Moment of Becoming.
2. I'll stop dead in my tracks, jaw dropping.
3. I'll re-read the page.
4. I'll fight back an enormous squee of happiness.
5. I'll bite my lower lip to keep myself from making too much noise.
6. I'll finish the book in the greatest mood, savoring all those H/Hr moments.
7. I'll hug the book and sigh.
8. I'll start over, trying to find all the ANVIL-sized hints from the begining of 7 to the Moment of Becoming.
9. I'll fall asleep out of pure exhaustion.
10. I'll wake up, go to my sister's room, and wake her up with a shriek of joy (I turned her into a H/Hr shipper, but she reads really slow and she LIKES spoilers).
11. We'll celebrate together, reading each H/Hr scene to pieces.
12. I'll make a HUGE post on my LiveJournal describing how happy I am (My friends are all R/Hrs or non-shippers).
13. I'll come to Portkey to celebrate with my fellow shipmates.
14. I'll go to Mugglenet and read the comments.
15. I'll gloat and scream I TOLD YOU SO to every R/Hr and H/G shipper that gloated and insulted me.
16. I'll wear my Harmonian T-shirts for the rest of the week, write fanfiction, read Book Seven over and over again, and otherwise enjoy the loveliness of the world.
Liu
That interviews funny, Romance? I didn't see any in the book. (You know what I mean)

EDIT. I actually read ALL of the 'legendary' interview for once. I really don't like the interviewers, to put it VERY nicely. There was no love in that book, simple as. There was just teenage crushes and jealousy etc. Ron and Hermione in Love? Does anyone realy believe that can happen? I just don't see it. No matter how hard I think about it. Should've just stuck with the amazing plots and action JKR....I'm willing to bet my computer that they'll be the 'trio' in the last book. All friends....
Little_Katie_Bug
Hmmm...I would probably do these things if/when H/Hr happens:

1.)Scream loudly
2.)Re-read the page to make sure I wasn't imagining things.
3.)Scream louder.
4.)Hug the book while running around my house
5.)Scream loudest of all, "HARRY LOVES HERMIONE!"
6.)Run to my friend's house, wait until she answers the door and jump up and down screaming, "In your face! Harmony sails away!
7.)Run back to my house while screaming and crying from happiness.
8.)Repeat steps 1-5 at least three times!

Many of us felt let down when HBP didn't show Harry and Hermione becoming a couple, showed Ron and Hermione moving toward couplehood (at least from Harry's point of view), and resurrected Harry/Ginny which we thought had died in OotP. And the now-infamous JKR interview with Melissa Anelli of The Leaky Cauldron and Emerson Spartz of MuggleNet was widely perceived to deal a coup de grace to our ship. All of this traumatized a lot of us.

But let's go back to OotP for a moment. In the chapter "Snape's Worst Memory," Harry looked into the Pensieve and was traumatized in perhaps much the same way. He saw his future father, James Potter, bullying Severus Snape in their fifth year as Hogwarts students, which seemed to justify Snape's long-standing contempt for James. He also saw his future mother, Lily Evans, being very contemptuous of James herself. All of this made him wonder how his parents ever became a couple.

In the very next chapter, "Careers Advice," Harry visited Sirius Black and Remus Lupin in the fireplace at 12 Grimmauld Place and told them what he'd seen. Sirius explained that James and Snape had been enemies at first sight. Remus added that Snape had hexed James at every opportunity, thereby provoking much of the apparent bullying. He also had this to say about James and Lily: "She started going out with him in seventh year."

At the risk of sounding tactless, I wonder how many of us -- who see Harry and Hermione as the second James and Lily -- either forgot these words of Remus's or else never picked up on them before reading HBP? I for one saw them as a clue that H/H might not happen until Book Seven; they started me wondering, as I admitted in the first of my three previous posts, whether JKR was keeping couplehood away from the latter-day pair until they had each had some real-world relationship experience.

I personally had thought she might pair Harry with Luna for more than just Slughorn's Christmas party: after all, in OotP she'd shown herself to be almost as good a friend to him as Hermione was. It also seemed to me that a girl who "believed the most extraordinary things" could do wonders for his faith -- which certainly had taken a beating since he saw Cedric Diggory die and Voldemort come back. But perhaps the monster in Harry's chest (doubtless something Hagrid would consider "lovably harmless") didn't register any of that? Well, at least I was right about him being paired with someone in Luna's year. But we didn't find out how she and her dad made out on their Crumple-Horned Snorkack hunt in Sweden, much less how much Hagrid knew about any of the creatures she talked about...

I had thought, too, that Ron might pursue Cho, since he'd shown signs of interest in her (wondering if Harry might not want to date her, being shocked because Michael Corner had taken up with her on top of being dumped by Ginny). I had thought, too, that he might fight Michael over her, resulting in major points being lost by both Gryffindor and Ravenclaw. But all of this was predicated on Marietta Edgecombe breaking off her friendship with Cho after arguing with her about her betrayal of the DA, including Cho, and maybe also about whether the Sextet should have died with Sirius at the Department of Mysteries. Not only was Cho barely an extra in HBP, but she and Marietta were apparently as tight as ever. I wonder whether the Sorting Hat almost put Cho in Hufflepuff, or whether she shares with Dumbledore and Hagrid a need to believe the best about even the most monstrous of creatures. I can't help it: Marietta always struck me as mentally unbalanced. I wonder whether she now wears makeup over her purple-pimple "brand" so that she can lose the makeup from time to time and show people how Harry and company have "wronged" her. Otherwise, why doesn't she have the pimples removed at, say, St. Mungo's? And we don't know how close she got with Zacharias Smith: maybe it was actually her idea for Harry to catch a Bludger to the head!

As for Hermione, I had imagined her paired with another Ravenclaw, Terry Boot, who had admired her Protean Charm. So much for predictions.

Now to answer the question, I would probably, like Hyof, feel very warm and fuzzy. Then, after finishing the book, I would send E-mails to several close correspondents to announce the fact, as I did after finishing the last two books. The subject lines would consist of things like "JKR did us right!" and "Right on, Jo!"

Which leads us to the following parody: I think this is just the right thread for it. THE WIZARD OF OZ is not one of my favorite movies (Harry would probably take issue with the "no place like home" business), but its musical score alone makes it worth watching. And a certain musical number has long seemed relevant to the issue of which ship will triumph. The following sketch is presented with apologies to screenwriters Noel Langley, Florence Ryerson and Edgar Allan Woolf, composer Harold Arlen and lyricist Edgar Yipsel Harburg.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Harry and Hermione are on a visit to Hogsmeade. They go into the Shrieking Shack, and no sooner do they do so when a tornado comes and carries the Shack up, up, up -- and away! Hermione, of course, hangs on to Harry's arm as in the past.

The pair look out a window just in time to see Emerson Spartz riding past on a motorcycle. He looks their way, leers at them and gives them "the finger" before continuing on his way.

Melissa Anelli flies past on a broom. She, too, looks Harry and Hermione's way -- but she wags a finger at them and yells, "Delusion!" Then, she, too, continues on her way, cackling maniacally.

Suddenly Harry and Hermione see a two-headed giant in a harlequin costume, belled caps and all. The creature has its back to them: they see that one head is male, with short red hair, while the other is female, with bushy brown hair. The giant turns toward Harry and Hermione: we're shocked, as they are, to see that the faces resemble at least roughly those of Ron and Hermione! And for all that, neither of them looks very friendly. But the giant seems even more shocked to see Harry and Hermione in the window: both of its heads shriek in fright, then the creature suddenly disappears, falling. We hear a thunderous thud as it hits the ground below: the vibrations shake the Shack, forcing Harry and Hermione to hang on ever more tightly to each other.

The Shrieking Shack comes down, down, down -- and hits the ground so hard that Harry and Hermione are knocked to the floor! Harry picks himself up, then helps Hermione up.

HARRY:
Are you all right, Hermione?

HERMIONE:
I think so. You?

HARRY:
Yeah, I think so too.
(brief pause)
Did you see that -- that thing out there? One of
its heads looked like yours --

HERMIONE:
-- and the other looked like Ron's! What's up
with that?

HARRY:
Never mind that just now. Where are we?

They open the Shack's front door and step out onto the porch, then off it for a quick survey. All around them they see a wasteland: ruined houses, scorched and blackened vegetation, craters that could have been made by shells or mines. And maybe worse, they -- and we -- are seeing everything in black-and-white, but they themselves remain in color! Harry's face screws up in revulsion at what he sees, while Hermione's face is a simple mask of disbelief.

HARRY (his voice matching his expression):
Looks like Voldemort's been through here.

He reflects that Godric's Hollow might have looked like this after the night his parents were killed.

HERMIONE (gesturing):
Harry, look!

Harry turns to look in the direction Hermione indicates. There, a short-to-medium distance away, is the two-headed harlequin giant, lying face down, apparently dead.

HERMIONE:
Harry, I've got a feeling we're not in
Hogsmeade any more.

HARRY (half-pondering the dead giant):
Tell me about it.

VOICE:
They're here!

HERMIONE (alarmed):
Who said that?

She draws closer to Harry.

HARRY (reading Hermione's mind):
Maybe someone who wants our blood
for the giant's.

They draw their wands.

ANOTHER VOICE:
They've arrived!

ANOTHER VOICE:
They themselves!

ANOTHER VOICE:
In the flesh!

OTHER VOICES IN CHORUS:
We're free at last!

Loud mass cheering breaks out. Harry and Hermione pocket their wands and look around in bemusement as dozens of people, many quite ragged, emerge from the ruined houses as well as other places not immediately visible, and move to surround them -- the only color figures in this sea of black-and-white humanity!

HERMIONE:
Excuse me, but could someone tell us
where we are?

H/H MAN #1 (cheerfully):
Why, you're in Harry/Hermione City!

H/H-ERS:
Welcome!

Harry and Hermione look at each other, not believing what they've just heard.

HERMIONE:
A whole city --

HARRY:
-- named after us?

H/H MAN #2:
Most certainly!

H/H WOMAN #1:
Here we acknowledge and celebrate your
brave exploits as a team --

H/H WOMAN #2:
-- and the extraordinary bond of love
between you two.

Harry and Hermione are visibly touched. They fall into an embrace.

H/H-ERS:
Awwww!

H/H WOMAN #1:
But not everyone's been happy about
your love.

HARRY/HERMIONE:
Why not?

H/H WOMAN #2:
There are those who think Hermione
would be better paired with Ron.

HARRY/HERMIONE:
Ron???

HARRY:
Why?

HERMIONE:
That's just ridiculous!

H/H MAN #1:
Oh, we know that.

H/H MAN #2:
But the Herons don't.

HARRY/HERMIONE:
Herons?

H/H WOMAN #1:
Also known as R/H-ers.

H/H WOMAN #2:
They've known about all the bickering
between Ron and Hermione -- and they
think it proves them a better couple.

Harry and Hermione again look at each other in disbelief.

H/H MAN #1:
We've known better, of course.

H/H MAN #2:
And the Herons have made us suffer
for it.

H/H WOMAN #1:
They've physically attacked us --

H/H WOMAN #2:
-- seized and destroyed our property --

H/H MAN #1:
-- caused us to lose our jobs --

H/H MAN #2:
-- and forced us to come here from
all over looking for peace.

Harry and Hermione are dumbstruck by hearing all of this.

H/H WOMAN #2:
But that wasn't enough for them.

H/H MAN #1:
They sent that two-headed giant after us.

H/H WOMAN #1:
It was no ordinary giant, either.

H/H MAN #2:
It cast spells -- including the Monochrome
Curse, as you can see.

HERMIONE (slapping herself in the head):
Of course! How could I be so dense?

HARRY (putting a hand on her shoulder):
Take it easy, Hermione. I didn't think of it
either.

H/H WOMAN #1:
And you've seen what else it did to our
fair city?

HARRY (nodding):
I was telling Hermione it looked like
Voldemort had been through here.

To his immense relief, an almost deafening silence greets the mention of Voldemort's name.

HARRY:
Hang on --
(an outraged edge enters his voice)
is he behind the Herons?

H/H MAN #2:
We've never been quite sure.

H/H WOMAN #2:
But it wouldn't surprise us in the least.

H/H MAN #1:
Anyway, the giant's made it very hard
for us to get by.

H/H MAN #2:
We've never known from day to day when
it would strike next.

H/H WOMAN #1 (sadly):
And not everyone who's come here is
still with us.

A moment of silence follows, during which everyone, including Harry and Hermione (who also join arms), bows heads.

H/H WOMAN #2:
We've hoped and prayed for a miracle --

H/H MAN #1:
But we never dreamed you yourselves
would bring it!

The H/H-ers again cheer en masse.

HARRY (gesturing wildly):
Hang on! Hang on!

The crowd falls silent.

HARRY:
If you lot think it's a miracle that that
-- thing is dead -- well, you're
wrong! We didn't do anything. What
happened was, we were in Hogsmeade --

HERMIONE:
-- and we went into the Shrieking Shack here --
(she gestures toward the Shack)

HARRY:
-- and a tornado came and carried it away --

HERMIONE:
-- and a couple of weird people flew past the
window, ragging on us --

HARRY:
-- and then we saw the giant --

HERMIONE:
-- and it saw us in the window and -- died of
fright, we guess...

H/H MAN #1 (raising a finger):
Aha! You see?

H/H WOMAN #1:
A miracle!

H/H MAN #2:
The creature couldn't handle the truth!

H/H WOMAN #2:
And now it's nothing but a bad joke!

Mass cheering again breaks out. Harry and Hermione smile, first at the crowd, then at each other. Each puts an arm around the other's shoulders.

H/H-ERS (singing):
Ding-dong! The joke is dead!
Which bad joke? The R/H joke!
Ding-dong! The R/H joke is dead!
Wake up, you Potterheads!
Rub your eyes and leave your beds!
Ding-dong! The R/H joke is dead!
It's gone where the bad jokes go
(H/G and Harry/Cho).
Yo-ho, let's open up and sing and ring the bells out!
Ding-dong, the merry-oh,
Sing it high, sing it low!
Let them know the R/H joke is dead!

The Mayor, the City Fathers and a Barrister arrive.

MAYOR (to Harry and Hermione):
As Mayor of the H/H City,
In the county of the HP Land,
I welcome you most regally.

BARRISTER:
But we've got to verify it legally, to wit --

MAYOR:
To wit -- ?

BARRISTER (indicating the dead R/H giant):
If it --

MAYOR:
If it -- ?

BARRISTER:
Is morally, ethically --

CITY FATHER #1:
Spiritually, physically --

CITY FATHER #2:
Positively, absolutely --

H/H-ERS:
Undeniably and reliably dead!

CORONER (who arrives carrying a Certificate of Death):
As Coroner, I must attest,
I've checked it to my very best.
And it's not only merely dead,
It's really most sincerely dead.

MAYOR:
Then this is a day of independence
For all the H/H-ers and their descendants.

BARRISTER:
If any.

MAYOR:
Yes, let the joyous news be spread!
The bad R/H joke at last is dead!

As the H/H-ers sing again, they turn from black-and-white to color, along with their environment; the houses rebuild themselves; the craters close up; and the vegetation turns green and floriferous once again.

H/H-ERS:
Ding-dong! The joke is dead!
Which bad joke? The R/H joke!
Ding-dong! The R/H joke is dead!
Wake up, you Potterheads!
Rub your eyes and leave your beds!
Ding-dong! The R/H joke is dead!
It's gone where the bad jokes go
(H/G and Harry/Cho).
Yo-ho, let's open up and sing and ring the bells out!
Ding-dong, the merry-oh,
Sing it high, sing it low!
Let them know the R/H joke is dead!

LOL - cute parody. Of course that song will be stuck in my head now...

I agree about the Lily/James parallel. But on the other hand, it's not like Lily and James had a war to fight... and book 7 might be too full for romance. But as I said in a different thread, it's not like H/Hr would have to take up much of the book. As far as some of us are concerned, a "relationship" has been going on for 6 years - it's just them acknowledging it themselves. thumbup.gif

QUOTE(Hopedreamer @ Sep 15 2005, 04:07 AM)
Many of us felt let down when HBP didn't show Harry and Hermione becoming a couple, showed Ron and Hermione moving toward couplehood, and resurrected Harry/Ginny which we thought had died in OotP.

Well well, I coulden't belive you at first when you said that thing with "they did not start dating until their 7th year, so when I checked it up in my swedish HP book it stood there and I had just walked past it like nothing.
Thanks for saying that, now my moral even got higher then it was 3 minutes ago biggrin.gif

Btw nice "story" or what it was, it was very good and funny smile.gif

I'd just stare at the page and read it one more time to be sure, when I have done that my smile will be clued on my face for a long time tongue.gif
Then I would just run around and scream "Yes!, HA take that delusial R/Hr, who wins?!"
meaby not but I would be very happy and go here to join in to the party! biggrin.gif and then check some R/Hr pages and see what they have to say! whistling.gif

H/Hr FOREVER!
FALSE-S1GNS
When H/Hr happens I'll call it a happy day! I'll run around screaming with this wide-grin on my face...
Then I'll indulge myself in every possible way. Yeah, it'll keep me happy for a long, long, long time.
Leena Cloud
When our ship happens I will prbably just stare at the page, then re-read it again to make sure I wasn't dreaming, after that a BIG smile will apperar on my face and I'll stand up and run around the house screaming biggrin.gif my mom will just roll her eyes at me and look at me funny but my dad will be happy sence he's a h/hr shipper. Yup that's what i would do whistling.gif
Gina Torres
I'd scream! Then go off and have a drink in their honor! Shouting WOOOOOOO all the way home! And everywhere else!

biggrin.gif
jonclift
I'd feel sorry for all the people hit by anvils and chocolate easter eggs, but happy for those of us who enjoy pumpkin pie. I would be happy because my faith in JKR's writing skills would be practically fully restored (her one downpoint so far = "romance" tongue.gif ).

Quite frankly, I'm just looking for Harry and Hermione's friendship to return - either to its former glory, or to something even stronger. wub.gif
Glassesfreak206
I think I'd finish the book and just kind of sit there with this stupid look on my face

ohmy.gif

yeah, like that. And I'd probably sit there for about ten minutes, thinking, "did that really happen?"
Then I'd stay REALLY REALLY quiet on msn and watch my RHR friend go SuperAngry.gif on me.
(Only 'cause I know she gets even more mad when I'm quiet)
Hehe, then at school, I'd always have this look when I see her. Like, that Spongebob Squarepants smug look where he's right and you know it.

naughty.gif

yeah, like that.
potterhead_679
first thing...
i would jump up and down and say "I knew it!"non-stop...
then I would probably pass out for a few minutes...
After that start jumping again...
pause for a while...
reread the whole book as fast as possible...
squee to everything...
jump up and down again...
be excited for the new movies and I would let all the people I know that i am happy...
I would definitely be seen wearing a huge grin on my face...
And brag to everyone H/Hr is the best couple there is...
and say... "I really knew it...from the start... I knew it!"

then probably I could die happily without ever regretting all those things that happened in my life...

If H/hr happens...GOSH! my whole life would be complete and satisfied...
I could never ask for more...
harry and hermiones daughter
id treat everyone so special and if they ask me why i'll say "Im NOT DELUSIONAL" although think even if H/Hr happen we should keep our name..."Pumpkin Pie Harmony is as delusional as any ship could be"

I'd sing at the top of my lungs and because most of my friends either dont like harry potter or they all ship Harry and Hermione i'd invite them all(when i say all i mean my HP friends) to a "Pumpkiteers arent delusional party" and celebrate!

The song i'd sing would probably be "A moment like this" by Kelly Clarkson
Nya_chan
hmm well..
I'd yell OH MY GOD!!!! and run around the house, shake my little brother going"IT HAPPENED IT HAPPENED!! YES YES YES!!1" jump up and down and then run off agian leaving him confused.
Then, when i've tired out i'll hop onto the computer and post on my xanga(blog) about 'it happened'!!! then in half typed sentances go:
NEENER NEENER NEENER!!! H/HR HAPPENED!! TAKE THAT (insert friends name here)!!!

and THEN, i'd tell my little brother whats going on. he'd go eh whatever! now get off the computer i want to play Everquest!! Finally i'll run up to my room only to scream again. (because i lost what page i was on). yep something along those lines. maybe with a few phone calls to my friends and stuff.
Kaa
My first reaction maybe is...

First I scream: "It's over now! We did it! They did it!"
Second I jumping around in the house and scream. Then I run out of the house and scream and dance and jumping. Everything if it happens. heart.gif

I hope so.
Harry85
I would grin madly reading that part of the book. Then I would not seek Rhr shippers to gloat in our happiness, but if they do cross my path, I'll tell them the one thing that I'm sure will make them even angrier.

"I told you, my dear. I've always know you were delusional..."

Mmmmh, maybe I'll keep the delusional part for Emerson... whistling.gif
blake_burna
I would celebrate, watch as the herons in my family concede to the purity of harmony, and re-read the passage where our ship sails.

Later on I will die happy. Knowing some things are how they SHOULD be.
rjade829
*Sad smile* This reminds me of the thread about what I would do if H/HR happened in HBP... cry.gif

Enough unhappiness now... gosh, I don't know what I'd do if H/HR happened in book 7. First I'd probably scream and jump up and down, then scream and jump up and down some more, then I'd frantically get online to squee with everyone else... but not before finishing the book. smile.gif

Ahh, just the thought is too happy to entertain...
