I'm surprised no one wrote about the situation where Harry had to defend Hermione when Cho was taking a bash at her.

two scenes

1) In Dumbledore's office when Harry felt a surge of pride at Hermione's jinxing ability

2) when Cho said it was horrible what Hermione jinxed the list of DA members, and Harry said he thought it was brilliant, and cry-baby-look-at-me-i-want-attention-Cho accused Harry, for the second time, (so insecure) of having a 'thing' for Hermione.

So funny, but I think these scenes where Harry has these observations and thoughts make me realise that it is slowly dawning on Harry, the presence of Hermione and its putting her in a whole new light.
Proof of this is when they were going in Umbridge's office in the OOTP and Harry is arguing with her (so cute) he,.. through the midst of all the angst, recognised Hermione's "solidarity and loyalty" to him.

I could go on and on on this topic......so many wub.gif

Didn't you get the feeling that when Hermione told Harry he was not a bad kisser that maybe she dreamt about kissing him before.........and Ron gave her a look...

On the choice that was given, I particularly liked Hermione being so excited when she thought Harry was going to be prefect. When I read OotP for the first time, I knew I wanted H/Hr to happen, but after GoF I wasn't very optimistic (back then I had yet to discover Portkey), and I enjoyed Hermione's reaction very much.

When I think about it, there is another little moment, in GoF, just when Hermione takes Harry for a walk:

QUOTE (GoF.Ch18.p253-254 @ BHC)
It was a chilly morning, and they kept moving, munching their toast, as Harry told Hermione exactly what had happened after he had left the Gryffindor table the night before. To his immense relief, Hermione accepted his story without question. "Well, of course I knw you hadn't entered yourself', she said (snip). 'The look on your face when Dumbledore read out your name!..."

Interesting that she knew just by looking at his face. I like it. smile.gif

I voted "Other", because my favorite moment is OotP, chapter 30, where Harry saves Hermione from Grawp. wub.gif Protective!Harry is my absolute favorite, and that moment had a huge *squee* factor for me.

OMG!!! I love that part too! Thanks fishtankbabe !

Other parts of the series that are squee-worthy are the constant arm-grabs on Hermione's part. I can't help but giggle whenever Hermione grabs Harry's arm in times of danger- or whenever Hermione get's scared. biggrin.gif tongue.gif

What about the centaur part in OotP where Harry and Hermione lead Umbridge into the Forbidden Forest. I don't have the book now, so I can't quoite directly, but the arm-grabs and Harry pulling Hermione to the ground to protect her from the stampeding centaurs. wub.gif

I love that part! My other favorite part is when she's about to get attacked by Grawp again, and Harry stands in front of her, even though he doesn't have a wand or any sort of weapon. Seriously, that's a lot of courage. He was willing to take on a freakin' giant with his bare hands to protect her. wub.gif He's my hero. tongue.gif

I love that moment! just check my avatar! **points left**

I like that in OotP Harry is so aware of keeping Hermione safe, like in the centaur's chapter, when they are going to take on Umbridge, I think Harry pulls Hermione to the ground or something like that. Gotta love him!!

I love pretty much all of OotP. wub.gif However, last night, I was re-reading PoA and came across this...

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban  pg 388 US edition

"Harry moved his head over on the pillow.  In the bed to his right lay Hermione.  Moonlight was falling across her bed.  Her eyes were open too.  She looked petrified, and when she saw that Harry was awake, pressed a finger to her lips, then pointed to the hospital wing door."

That was after they land in the hospital wing, pre-Time Turning. I just liked this scene because of Harry's description of the whole scene, esp. the part about the moonlight. cool.gif Hope this hasn't been posted before.

I'm not sure if this is my favourite moment however I like this part very much:

OotP, Chapter 9, The Woes of Mrs Weasley, pg. 150-151, UK Edition

“He dashed from the room, leaving Harry and Hermione alone. For some reason, Harry found he did not want to look at Hermione. He turned to his bed, picked up the pile of clean robes Mrs Weasley had laid on it and crossed the room to his trunk. ‘Harry?’ said Hermione tentatively. ‘Well done, Hermione,’ said Harry, so heartily it did not sound like his voice at all, and, still not looking at her, ‘brilliant. Prefect. Great.’ ‘Thanks,’ said Hermione. ‘Erm – Harry – could I borrow Hedwig so I can tell Mum and Dad? They’ll be really pleased – I mean prefect is something they can understand.’ ‘Yeah, no problem,’ said Harry, still in the horrible hearty voice that did not belong to him. ‘Take her!’ He leaned over his trunk, laid the robes on the bottom of it and pretended to be rummaging for something while Hermione crossed to the wardrobe and called Hedwig down.

I think here Rowling deliberately shows that Harry's feelings for Hermione are changing into something more than friendship, this is the passage that definitely convinced me of H->Hr. However the author, writing that 'For some reason', made also very clear that Harry is not able to understand why he can't look in Hermione's eyes, nor why he want to talk with her...yet.

I love every single one of those quotes, but I voted for the MoM one. I would write more, but everyone has already said everything I wanted to! tongue.gif

(Hello, I'm new here. Well, I've been at Portkey for a while, but I just haven't really posted anything.)

I think that what is very interesting is that when Ron comes back and he speaks with him, he realizes that his "horrible hearty" voice is gone, and he's relieved. Between the two conversations, Harry has a lot of thoughts going thoughout his mind. A voice is arguing with his mind and gets to a point where he finally asks himself if he thinks himself "better than Ron." He wonders what Ron has that he doesn't. Now, this scene is practically following Harry's outburst toward R/hr at being together without him. Later, we find that the voice inside his head speaks in Hermione's voice. Could it be a connection? whistling.gif I'm not saying that Ron has Hermione, because he doesn't. They're just friends (for now, and, hopefully, it will stay that way) but I just think that this is a conitnuation of Harry comparing himself to Ron. Remember when Hermione said, "Harry, you're worse than Ron - well, no you're not." I think that, in the future, we will see Harry comparing himself to Ron a lot more. What's more, if he gets interested in Hermione, he may be asking the same questions that Ron had asked of Harry on Krum. Or, perhaps, he has already began to ask them...subconsiously. If I don't make any sense, please say so, but I hope I do. lol.

Hey There!!

I've decided to post this little thought that has been in the back of my head for quite some time now. I'm relatively new here to Portkey.org so sorry if this has already been spoken about before - I haven't seen it so I suspect it hasn't..

ANYWAYS....so in OotP there is this scene in 'Detention with Dolores' :

QUOTE
When the bell echoed distantly over the grounds, Harry rolled up his blood-stained Bowtruckle picture and marched off to Herbology with his hand wrapped in Hermione's handkerchief , and Malfo's derisive laughter still ringing in his ears.

*Emboldment my own.

This is the part where Harry gets swiped by the bowtruckle in his Care of Magical creatures lesson.

Now, this scene had always caught my eye because I had always thought that handkerchiefs were associated with romance. Since it was Hermione's handkerchief, I decided that perhaps JK Rowling was leaving in a subtle hint about romance. I don't know but this is what I found anyway.

* In Othello, he had given Desdemona a handkerchief as a love-token.
(This obviously means that Handkerchief's are associated with romanticsm as even Shakespeare himself knows.) cool.gif
*
QUOTE
Lace, frills and ribbons have long been associated with the concept of romance, originating from the days of chivalry when a knight rode into battle sporting a ribbon or scarf presented to him by his "fair lady." Lace has been used throughout history in the making of women's handkerchiefs. In centuries gone by, if a lady dropped her handkerchief, a man might pick retrieve it for her and it was not unusual for a lady to intentionally drop her handkerchief into the path of an attractive man in order to encourage his attention. The literal definition of the word "lace" is to "snare" or "noose."
- see I knew I had read it somewhere thumbup.gif

I bet there are a lot more reasons to why the humble handkerchief would be associated with romance. I have to admit that I thought it was quite cute for Hermione to lend Harry her handkerchief but for there to be a subtle symbolism underneath it all would make any pumpkin pie shipper sigh.

Cheers.

Finally someone thinks what I thought!! I read that passage before in the book and when it said Hermione's handkerchief I don't know why but I just had a strange feeling that it was hiding something romantic. wub.gif Maybe I'm just too into my ship but hey, all of us have to admit H/Hr make us squee and melt!!

Anyways, my favorite moment is every moment listed there!! But since I have to choose one, (which is hard tongue.gif .) I would have to pick..... ugh!!! I can't decide between the friendship and bravery scene or the death scene!!!! I guess no one picked this one yet and since I like to stand out of the crowd I pick the friendship and bravery scene. I know they were just eleven or ten years old there and they couldn't have an interest in eachother at that age but that scene, that scene made me into a H/Hr shipper. When I first read that scene it was just too sweet and adorable that I wanted to go awww! blush.gif It was Harry's first hug by a girl and you can tell he was embaressed. I don't care if people say they were only kids back then but that scene was a start of a beautiful friendship between a hero and a herione. user posted image

the whole time i've been reading this thread i've had a fixed smile on my face that wont go away. My favourite scene was the MoM scene only because i was thinking in my head noooo she can't die they must and will get together and then of course it says those lines and i'm thinking heey what if harry finaly realises he feels more then just friendship for hermione. Of course if it was ron that had been slashed he may have reacted the same but if you remember when ron gets attacked by the brains harry doesn't stop to help like he does with hermione he keeps running and it doesn't say anyhting about his feelings. smile.gif

My favorite H/Hr moment is in the Goblet of Fire when Hermoine kissed Harry on the cheek wub.gif .....i still have to re read that line many times over and over because 1.)i luv it sooo much tongue.gif
2.)just because Hermoine did something she has never done before...loosen up.
3.)gave me definite hope that Harry and Hermoine will have something!! whistling.gif

sigh i need to redrag out the goblet of fire again and read the last page again.....heheheh...that page always makes me giggle like a school girl blush.gif ...

You know, I've been thinking about this and thinking about this, and honestly, I simply cannot come up with one single Harry/Hermione moment that I like the most.

...can I just vote "all of OotP"? Because really, nothing puts a H/Hr-ship-induced smile on my face like reading the partnership throughout all of OotP.

But I'd have to say my favorite of the options on the list are the PoA Harry and Hermione's Time Turner adventure, the GoF lake walks, the OotP prefect selection aftermath, and the OotP Hermione Christmas visitation where she gets Harry out of Buckbeak's room. biggrin.gif But also, I can think of so many others not on the list...like PoA's "Are you going to report me?" and certainly the OotP knitting invitation. Awwww.
